Exalted is considered "the highest" because you can't get any bans or warnings of any kind for quite a long time, which is harder than just being a member for a long time.

Awesome!

Rippin' it up Bungie...

I had to sit at work with my sound muted to watch the video, but it was worth it. Also, lost 10 bucks to my roommate over the shield grenade thingy... darn.

Ok. A Few things Id like to add. 1) Does anyone remember that Game Informer Magazine from like last September??? Well in there they alreay said that there would be deployable turrets and in the background of the picts u could see 2-3 turrets planted. 2) The bubble shield needs to be gone from this game because of the main thing......NOOBS OVER DOING IT!!! The only way I feel that it is fine to stay by MY STANDARDS is if a) your able to turn it off in the game's settings when you make you own gameypes. b) It dosen't last for more than 3-4 seconds. c) If the shield stopps them from shooting you....you cannot shoot them. In other words if my bullets dont touch you your bullets cant touch me.. Now on to the Trip Mines. Yes, a very clever Idea but overall it dosent feel like halo. That goes into the realm of Socom with the C4 planting and Splinter Cell with the door mines. Halo is about gunning and outsmartng and tactics....Now im not going to straight up deny these new features before trying them, but From what I can see. The new features are messing up what I'm straight used to. Which makes me not want to buy it. Bubble Shields and Trip Mines sound and look cool but the way we ALL have played halo for the past 7 years I feel that they are evolving it just a little too much from the cool @$$ gameplay. Thats my 2 cents. Ill use it and more than likely get used to it, but itd be much much better if you can have a function to turn it on/off.

just another dumbass that wants bungie to just take halo CE and improve some of the graphics, maybe add some maps but not change anything. Halo CE was the greatest game, but that doesn't mean anything different is worse. Let bungie make the game, and you play the game without pretending like you could do a better job. and if you have to say something about how the pistol was the best weapon ever, or no fall damage ruined the game, or the lunge malee in Halo 2 broke the game, or any other of the thousand comments that old guys make when talking about any other game besides halo CE, go to a forum where the readers actually care. here is a link, guyswitholdsaggyballs.com

What about the people who got in through the Marty Army promotion thing (including myself)? Is that part of Friends and Family and if so, what's the difference?

i thought the same thing like a jump boost or jetpack but after going back and pausing it you can see there is a small lift on the ground and he jumps into it. I believe the buble shield will be a pick up and you use it with the x button. The trip mine will be toggled between stickys and frags. Any one agree?

No it will not. The trip mine will be used by using X the same as the bubble shield. I don't know how you people manage to breathe.

thanx for stating the obvious for people who dont know(not insulting you, but them). if it were to be with the grenades it would have been siting next to the spike on the hud. but if you look at 00:58, you can see that the special pickup as ill call it is next to the left of the secondary weapon when picked up.

it shows him firing and there is no green stuff.

drdeath on page 2 of this forum Frankie writes that the X button is to deploy a weapon, like a turret. Looks like we were both wrong. Man! I dont know how you manage to breathe.

it says deploy equipment

Wow. Does no one here ever, even remotely, pay attention to a damn thing that anyone else says? People, read the thread before asking a question. And if that's too much for you, read this:

1. The X button DEPLOYS EQUIPMENT. Frankie said so. The equipment consists of Shield Bubbles, Trip Mines, and (possibly) a portable grav-lift. These might be power-ups scattered across the maps.
2. It seems as though the Warthog turrets can be detached and carried around. That's not a flamethrower you see the blue Spartan carrying, it's a Warthog turret. It fires like a turret and it looks like a turret, not the flamethrower. Bungie-person, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems pretty obvious.
3. The instructions to download the video are on the story page. Read them. It's not rocket science. I figured it out, and so can you.
4. Their is/was a new gametype called Escort. Their is also a map called Warthogs Inc., but that's probably a temporary name.

I think that's all the relevant info. Also, what is the deal with people whining about a three-week beta? Halo and Halo 2 didn't even have Betas. You're damn lucky to even be involved in the testing. Stop your whining. They're doing it to smooth out the kinks in the game, not to please and entertain you until the game is released. Stop being ungrateful bastards. The world, including Bungie, does not exist simply to cater to your every whim. If you don't like it, don't participate. I'm sure that not playing ANY Halo 3 will be much more fun than playing it for three weeks. And yes, that was sarcasm.

Thank you, goodnight.

EDIT: Taco92, the new grenade is the Brute spike grenade. The trip mine is deployable equipment, via the X button.

Looks like there will mostlikely be a large amount of machinima(s) and or Montage(s) for Halo 3.

Lawlz. Ninjanaut in Halo 3.
Who needs Super Jumps when you can edit the settings to where you can jump super high! And run super fast! :D
Nice. o-o

I just have one question, in the Beta will we be able to bring guests to online games like we do in Halo 2's multiplayer?
don't know if it was answered and sorry if it was....

1. There's a bit towards the end where you see a few spartans fighting, and there's a shield ball sat on top of a mini-wall. I'm gonna go 99.5% sure that there will be powerups scattered across the maps. I'm gonna hazard a guess that when they spawn they'll be random, too.

2. One of the previous weekly updates, the one about the warthog, has something in there about detachable weaponry. That gun resembles the warthog turret, it's safe to say you're probably right about that too. Which means, if we DO end up seeing a rockethog.......=)

I'm still liking the fact that you can see what weapons they have most. Oh, and that lovely crunching sound of a man-cannoned corpse hitting the rock face. Mmm mm.

One thing I hope they implement in matchmaking is a universal rank. No more seeing level 40s in my level 20 game, just because they've not levelled rumble slayer. =)

Well... SON OF A DOUBLE-BARRELED SHOTGUN! I have Airborne training from May 16 to June 8! Arrrrrrrgh! I'm also missing my brother's graduation and two of my best friend's wedding. Hmm... Maybe I should break my ankle or something... (jk) But seriously, this REALLY sucks.

i would totaly break my ankle for halo 3, do you have no commitment? :) and OMFG iam sooooo wired i must have som many endorphins in my viens right now, n that bubble shield idea... looks kinda lame to me, but ill see how it plays in beta :)

Keep Me Posted

XBox Live web site says The Bata Starts At 5 A.M. Pacific Time.
Bungie site say it starts at 12A.M. PDT
What is the correct time?

  • 04.10.2007 12:08 PM PDT

UPINYOFACE4RILL!!!

just to add to the speculation on the warthog turret, what I THINK I can see during the explosion of the 'hog that ran over the trip mine is a turret flying over towards the left side of the screen while the hog explodes. Its at around 5:51-5:52 of the media player video, not sure what that will be for anyone else. The object I'm talking about is sort of in front of the spartan flying through the air. Just another guess.

  • 04.10.2007 12:09 PM PDT

Who reads these?

brilliant, I like the trip mine addition, will make some interesting tactics available.

Wow, glad that news about this came out earlier in the week. Kind of impatient waiting for Friday's to roll around lately. Like most of you, I speculated about the X button throughout the Video. The first thing that came to mind when I considered what it would logically work as, is the deploying of Trip Mines and/or a Bubble Shield that you can either pick up or start with. I was reluctant to see both at first, but its easy to see how they'll incorporate into the game. There was a guy earlier who was complaining that "noobs" will over use it and ruin MP. I doubt that will be the case, and I'm positive that by customizing your gametype, you can shut this off and be done with it....regardless, I say "get over it" and find a way to beat them even with their tom-noobery.

Back to business, the assault rifle sounds and looks as though it will make a very fitting return and I don't know about you guys, but the spike grenade is going to be a welcomed piece into my inventory. Oh and who could forget the revealing of the most anticipated addition to the game? The pivotal piece that will remake the gameplay of Halo and single-handedly change the game forever. I am of course talking about....

...port-a-potties.

Okay, that was far too overplayed. Anyhow, looking forward to the Beta and am pleased to hear that its not half a year away. =D Thanks for the video as well, I'll be rewatching it every now and then until something else strikes my fancy.
