Wow... you people....

Cmon man, the chaingun (which is obviously a chaingun... even though Frankie said you CAN'T pull the turret off the hog, it looks EXACTLY like the LAAG turret) is VERY easy to see... Just watch the video until about 27 seconds in where you see the blue spartan use the portable grav lift, then pause it RIGHT THERE, and its like 2 or 3 frames after the portable grav lift guy you see a spartan (on the right side of the screen) landing a jump while firing a chaingun.

In reference to the "you can't pull the turret off the hog" thing, we know that much is true, but that DOESN'T mean there can't be a <detached warthog turret> as a weapon that spawns in the map. A small loophole that most people overlooked and jumped straight to "There are no chainguns or flamethrowers." Granted there may be no flamethrower, but there is irrefutable evidence in the video that there is a chaingun, or at least there was in the Alpha build.

I think that turrets, like the one on Highground, will be "grabbable". I mean, look at the turret: it's not bolted into the floor like Halo 2, it's standing on a tripod. I think that portable turrets will be limited to a small number of maps.

Bungie..... this is supposed to be a BETA TEST. Why less than a month?

The shortest OPEN BETA I've ever seen on a game in my entire life of gaming was a little less than a year.


20 days is actually pretty decent. ive seen betas last for a mere 3 days. ive seen 7 days, ive seen more 3 days, ive seen just 10 days....

also, this isnt an open beta. this is a beta stress test. huge difference. they arent trying to sell the game, it isnt an OPEN beta (not everyone can get in), and they are testing the net code and jazz like that.

I don't know if anyone's noticed this yet.

But, at the point in the video where they're talking about reviewing kills and stuff when shooting someone in the head across the map with a sniper rifle, check out the sniper zoom window. It's about 6:27 into the film.

I just think it's pretty damn neat that the new sniper rifle actually shows you the "distance." "elevation," and "wind" in your zoom. If it's actually accurate, now we can find out just how good a person's noscope is. Another thing to think about is, why did they include "wind" as a factor, if it's not something important that will affect your sniping?

Man that rocked I can't wait for that st. What made me laugh was when that Adrian Perez guy was saying that with duel wield weapons you can't grenade and melee, obviously he doesn't play greenthumb style. If he did, or anyone else for that mater, melee becomes a huge part of duel wielding. Cause it's always that half second less it takes to continue running into a guy your deuling with to crack him for the kill. There you go. Plus if that didn't work your free to toss a grenade at your feet and run, either way he dies and you teabag to your hearts content.

Moral of the story --- Try greenthumb and rule forever!

The man canon seems to be a cool innovation to the way we'll get from point A to point B in Halo. I kinda hope the sound for it is changed though. Wouldn't it be cooler if the sound was a short "thoomp" noise and then all you hear after that is the wind blowing past your MJOLNIR armor.

I didn't get a chance to look at the time stamp but right after the bald guy is talking about "you get a lot of comments. Like, I hate this map.....I hate you." There is a red spartan ontop of a bridge structure that looks a lot like the back view of the front of the fortress map from earlier in the video. Under the spartan on the back side I think there should be the chain gun...but it's gone.



Did anyone else notice that the health bar is now at the top center? Thought that was kind of interesting

Hey check out 0.34 into the film. You see a wheel! but it's a different wheel to the warthog in the video and the back panel is different to the mongoose. New vehicle, me thinks. Or another type of hog. That might fit into the warthog inc. gametype I saw on the screen at 2.40.

You typically see a placeholder health bar like that in the early builds of a game. Its functional, but not final. Keep in mind that its the Alpha build and they've might've moved that as it seems to clutter the screen and hinder a valuable area in your field of vision. Then again, I could be very wrong and it looks and works quite well. I just don't like the top center health/shield bar because its in my way. Anyhow, its all subject to change and in my opinion, I'd like my health bar to be smaller (but not shorter) and down in its corner where its always been. =D

The reason I noticed it is because it first looked like the radar was a lot like halo one then I thought, "hey where's the health bar, I know they aren't playing no shields"
Then I noticed it at the top center. It honestly didn't look as functional as the health bars we've had in the past, seemed to be incosistant but I understand it's alpha so all that stuff might change.

and I'm not up on game developing either, Most games don't interest me enough to check out the building stages. Thanks for the reminder though.

Hasn't anyone noticed that no footage of a playable Elite was shown. Are they taking that out. I like the idea of having at least two different kinds of characters to choose. Even and ODST would be great too. I think Halo 3 should allow all the characters to be on screen for certain maps that make sense for that map.

I also think the Bubble shield does and should roll with the character. but can you shoot out from inside. What if you deploy a trip mine while inside, would the shield set it off as it rolls over it?

What would be cool also is to see if you can deploy a bubble shield while using the man cannon.

look over on the right at 3:06 and PLAY IT FRAME BY FRAME
there is some sort of thing thats rotating. I have absolutely no clue what it is other than a hunter swinging its shield/armor. I think this because the red guy is lungiing at it and tossing grenades at it. anyone have any ideas?

Anyone else bothered by the position of the aiming reticle?

It seems even lower then it is in Halo 2. I just don’t know why Bungie insists on positioning the aiming reticle so low on the screen. I am guessing that it is probably to create an illusion of height, so that you feel like you are actually walking around, instead of looking like a floating gun.

The problem is, at least for me, is that positioning the aiming reticle that low creates a very stressful and disorienting experience. Positioning the aiming reticle lower on the screen means that in order to aim at someone, you have to lift the screen higher then normal. I find looking slightly into the sky extremely disorienting.

In fact, I find it so bothersome, that in order to alleviate the stressful sensation of being disoriented, I actually look to the upper third of the screen when walking around (meaning that I am aiming at the ground). Even in games where the reticle is positioned in the middle of the screen, when walking around I will still lower my site and look in the upper third of the screen. This of course puts me at an inherent disadvantage for every battle because of the aiming correction that I must do.

Please Bungie, at the very least, don’t make the reticle any lower then Halo 2. Why not just put it in the middle? In my opinion you should do the obvious Bungie-like thing and simply give players control over where they want to position the aiming reticle? There are settings for everything else, why not this?

goddangit bungie. you guys have made it impossible for me to buy the new halo 2 multiplayer maps, and your damn agegate bull took me to the search page when i entered my birthday in firefox. i HATE internet explorer, but i had to use it to download this. wth. and the new website design takes LONGER for each page to load... keep this up and you will cease to be bungie and finally give in to your microsoft owners, telling us your new stuff is the best when it isn't. Bungie used to be about the little things... Hopefully these minor grievances are not indicative of the quality of Halo 3 and the beta will make me forget your trespasses against your fans.
