Subject: Trouble picking up weapons in Halo for PC

I'm having a bit of trouble picking up weapons in the game. Its not that I can't, its that in order to pick up a weapon you usually have to HOLD DOWN the "E" key. For me it just picks up the weapon when I TAP the key. This makes it impossible to reload while running over a different weapon because it won't reload my weapon, instead it immediately picks up the weapon on the ground.

Is there any way to fix this?? Thanks in advance!!

I use mouses wheel down function to reload^^ I like to put many commands to the mouse, so my reactions are faster. But now my mouse is broken, I'll buy G5. *dreams*

//edit: (I forgot the main reason of this post.) I sometimes have to press the pickup button so damn long that it makes me mad. Now I think it's the problem of my bros brand new gaming kb. :(

"X" is a good key to hit when you're on the move, it's a quick pick up, you don't have to hold it down and stay still for a few min, you just have to hit "X".

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

I can usually pick up weapons on the run while holding E and then use R to reload.

I'm afraid not. Instead, I recommend that you get used to holding the E button while you're running towards your weapon to pick it up. Stopping over a weapon for five seconds to pick it up really isn't something you want to do.

People, you should NOT use the "E" key to reload. It can lead to your death, usually in boring but sometimes highly amusing ways.

A long time ago, on Ice Fields at the bridge, I was facing a pretty good opponent. We both had pistols, and he had grabbed the overshield earlier so I couldn't easily approach without being 3sk'd and vice versa for him. Suddenly, a hog comes roaring up behind my opponent, and because he was pressing "E" to reload he GOT SUCKED INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT. It was freaking hilarious as the animation looked like he jumped forwards 4 feet into the seat. Anyways, after a split second of WTF I threw a frag grenade, sending the the hog over the side and killing them both. It was a pretty amusing story when he explained what happened.

The moral of the story is, DONT use "E" to reload or pick up weapons. Use "R" to reload and "X" to pick up weapons instantly. Use E only for getting into vehicles... "E" is context sensitive, and on the battlefield the context can change suddenly... leading to your sudden death.

I don't have had problems with the "E" button now, but whenever I used to press "E" to get in a vehicle, it would always reload my weapon first. It got very annoying when grenades were going off all around me, And instead of getting in a warthog and driving away to safety, Master Chief would take his sweet little time to reload his AR. Only to be blown up by a rocket 4 seconds later.

Halo PC is different compared to the Xbox version in that the former has a key specifically devoted to reloading your weapon. You can reload a partially empty clip in the warthog's passenger seat, but on the Xbox version you have to spend the entire clip before you can reload, lest pressing X will make you exit the vehicle.
