I totally agree. And it has more of a human perspective

Halo 2 was designed to be more of a team game, while Halo 1 was more about the individual.

I also see that Halo 2 has a much darker feeling that Halo 1. And that Halo 2 was used as a filler to show us the Covanent side of the war. Halo 1 was used as the Human perspective and Halo 2 was used as a Covanent perspective. People want to play as Master Chief and not The Arbiter as much.

I completely agree, although I do like the cutscenes involving the Arbiter, but it would've been nice to go back to the Library and play as MC. If I remember correctly, he didn't kill a single sentinel!

  • 04.14.2007 11:52 AM PDT

i killed many sentinels. . .but i think that all in alll, the campaign in halo 2 sucked. no offense to anyone, but it didnt tell you any more about the covenant, other than what you should have read in the books. and in halo one, you (MC) were the hero, not the arbiter. i liked that

i agree. The story line was so much more interesting in halo 1. First you have to fight the covenent, then the flood, then the covenet and the flood. But anyways in every level something dramatic happended in the story line. Halo 2 was also interesting, but it was a little confusing the first time when switching from master chief to the arbiter. I was really dissapointed in that.

  • 04.16.2007 9:17 PM PDT

I agree, it did have a different feel.

That i can agree too. Now don't get me wrong, I like the Arbiter and Halo 2's Arbiter missions but the levels in Halo always had this... man I can't even express it, nor do i need too: we all know what i mean.

when the census came around, for religion I put Bungie.

I think that the halo 1 campaign OWND and that compared to the halo 2 campaign it was much deeper. in a wierd way it gave you this feeling of your the only one left on the ring. I remember getting soooooo into the story that my mother would have to shake me to get me back to realaity. (not much considering I am a nobody)

Halo 1 had very a very different feel and play from halo 2. In my opinion, it was better. Heck, I even think some parts of halo 1 looked better than halo 2.

Don't feed the monkey!!!!

A LOT of things in Halo CE look better than Halo 2. Two examples are lighting and textures. Go play Halo CE and shine your flashlight on the walls or in dark corridors, then go play Halo 2 and do the same thing. Halo CE looks 100 times better. Also look at the weapon effects like when you shoot a wall with a AR or a Covenant shield. Just look at how many more effects there are in Halo CE.

Good point, Bullets. Halo 2 graphics arent that good at all.

Halo 1 music was better, it had a more epic feel, ect.

  • 04.22.2007 11:23 AM PDT

Jokes about deaths aren't funny.

Carter out.

Well, I love the music of both games. They're different, but still awesome.

With story, yes. With pretty much everything, no. The music was still good, but with the addition of more rock. I don't know about you, but that doesn't seem darker to me. And the marines didn't care that their homeworld was being invaded. They were cracking jokes and every possible turn and all that.

Halo 2 has a cheery feel to it, Halo 1 feels like a war.

  • 04.22.2007 1:23 PM PDT

HALO 3 FTW

Effin Bible Humpers..

In halo 1, all of the guns are shiny and silver, in halo 2, they are black. What the hell.

Also, anyone ever notice how totally usless the marines are? I mean, they are trained soldiers, you would think they woud be able to shoot stuff better than they do. They have terrible aim!

You also get to storm a beach in halo.

Not to mention halo 2 follows the same path taht H1 did. Get off the ship, its being boarded! Look, a halo! find the "sacred icon", another library level, then going through older levels backward with flood accompanying the covenant.

That, only with more storyline BS that was just annoying. I swear, I spent more time watching cutscenes than playing the damn game. The only thing I give Halo 2 is the length, and it's not a horrible game, so it's pretty fun.

I liked Halo 1 because of the weapons, the physics were much better IMO (less glitches, superjumps, crappy grenade throws, etc), the graphics weren't good, but it's retarded because that's all anyone thinks a game is now, graphics. GRAPHICS DO NOT MAKE A GOOD GAME! They help, but it doesn't mean it's good, take the Marathon series, I think Marathon plays much better than Halo 2, but you can barely tell one thing from the other in Marathon. Plus Halo 1 had a great, original story, but not too much of it like in Halo 2, the longest cutscene was like, 3 minutes, and after that you would get straight back to blastin' foos'!

Im gonna say the complete opposite and say Halo 2 campaign was much better. The story line with the brutes betraying and everthing and leaving a great mystery was much better than halo1. Halo 1 didnt have the "fast" feel that halo 2 has. Halo 2 is a much faster game which i prefer. I really ahted that snowy level on halo 1 where you ended up killing dozens of elites in the same looking room over and over..then worst of all you had to do it again later on in the game.

I thought the CMT version of halo1 improved on the original alot

Halo 2 lacked the sence of urgency that Halo had. In the original from Two Betrayals to The Maw is a sprint to the end and feels like a race against time. There is nothing in Halo 2 that made me feel like I had to get it done now or the world would end. I think breaking up the story with the Arbiter parts really ruins the pacing of the game. You jump back and forth so much you either forget why you are where you are or it doesn't feel like it matters that you are there. For example; in the original, you land on Halo because you had no choice. It was that or get killed by all the Covenant. In Halo 2 you follow the Prophet of Regret to Delta Halo and when you get there it feels more like a sightseeing trip than an important mission. By the time you get to the Prophet to kill him, it doesn't seem that important. Its like, "oh is that what we were doing? I was too busy riding that gondola to remember."

I also think ending the game with the Arbiter was really a poor decision. I think the general concensus over the past 3 years has been that we the fans would much rather play as the MC than the Arbiter, and reinacting Donkey Kong was no way to end a Halo game. (if you don't get the Donky Kong thing go read old 117 web comics).

Finally, a big problem with the story of Halo 2 was that there were no supprises. We all know what Halo is and what it does, why do we have to be retold the story from the Covenant perspective? All the trailors for Halo 2 promised us MC saving the Earth from the Covenant, but what we got was a tour of some places that don't feel important to the story and a lot of Covenant politics. Not really the mysterious story with galactic concequences that the original was.

Halo 1 really does something I can never really explain. But I think it's something like this.

You charge through the beach with marines behind you, The enemy laughs in your efforts to survive as they are already bombarding you with fire. You take cover behind a large crate hoping that your shields can recharge, But before you know it, An elite comes right in the back of you, yells in your ear, and is about to kill you. You turn around, and the fun begins.

THAT is what makes Halo fun in my opinion. Charging in there and then turning around a second later and finding an enemy about to hack you to death. Halo 2 never really seemed to have this sort of feeling of survival.

Halo 2 seemed like i was being funnelled through the levels in small rows with lame spawns. IT is hard to think of why they feel so different. Maybe another reason is that H1 had wide open areas with pretty good wheather and area effects while being believeable. In h2 you never really see anything. Also the scripted levels were lame. in h1 you could always choose to go super stealth ninja on some alien bastard like in AOCR with the million sleeping grunts and 2 patrolling elites. Pre-spawned and different methods to take them out. H2 they spawned running at you. lame.

The levels in halo 1 were better designed i didnt mind the arbiter but giving him the last level was a mistake it shoulda been the chief, halo 2 was ruined for me as well because of the brutes, i despise them and you spend most of the campaign fighting against the flood
