The Bungie forums are my favorite online forums, however, this site features the least useful pm system that I have encountered in any forum.

Many of these suggestions have been suggested before, but the New New Hawtness is a good opportunity to address the PM system:

1. PM all members group function -- It would save group leaders a lot of time, but it needs safeguards to prevent PM spam.

2. Outbox -- How hard would it be to have an outbox? That would help any of us who send a lot of PMs to different people.

3. Friends List/Address Book -- This would also make the PM system easier to use.

4. Text Marking Buttons -- Buttons that with one click allow users to add marking to PM text.

5. Contact Mods/Report Questionable Threads -- Have a feature in the PM system that makes it easier for members to report offensive material.

Great ideas. I'm glad someone other than my self wants an outbox. Your other suggestions strike true as well.

I logged into Bungie.net and all I got was this lame member rank.

I'm with you nate, the PM system definitely could do with an upgrade or two. A PM outbox would be amazing, as would a 'message all members' option for group leaders and moderators.

1) Eh, possibly. I'm not a big group person so I don't really see the need for something like this because couldn't the person just make a thread saying what would be said in the PM?

2) You do know there's a quote feature for PMs right? There's your outbox. I'll admit there's times where I though to myself "What the -blam!- did I just send?" But I don't think that an outbox is completely necessary.

3) I agree with such a thing. It would allow for better trackage of mods, the only people I PM because I have no life.

4) Eh, not necessary. Once you get into the habit of adding or to posts, it takes less time to type because you don't have to remove your hands from the keyboard. I don't have a problem with the way it is.

5) Reporting Threads through the current PM system has never been a problem for me.

I would suggest expanding on these features discussing pros and cons because you're not really providing much of an arguement to add these features. But that's just me.

I kept my post short, because many of these features have been discussed before, however, I will expand on them now. Thank you for the feedback.

1. PM all members group function -- It would save group leaders a lot of time, but it needs safeguards to prevent PM spam.

If you are an admin in a group with hundreds or over a thousand members, then it would be very HELPFUL to have a PM all button. That way an admin could directly pm members a weekly update or an important announcement.

2. Outbox -- How hard would it be to have an outbox? That would help any of us who send a lot of PMs to different people.

An outbox would help me remember the content of old pms and discussions. For example, I could keep a copy of my ground introduction pm in the outbox. It would save me time. It might also be a good feature for other group leaders and the Bungie ninjas.

3. Friends List/Address Book -- This would also make the PM system easier to use.

Every other forum I have visited has this feature. This way I could quickly pm multiple people or someone that is not in many of the groups I am in. It would help me keep track of my friends on B.net.

4. Text Marking Buttons -- Buttons that with one click allow users to add marking to PM text.

This is simply a convenient and quick feature. The private group articles already have this feature. The buttons are also helpful for new members.

5. Contact Mods/Report Questionable Threads -- Have a feature in the PM system that makes it easier for members to report offensive material.

I use the current system, but this is a faster way to report questionable threads. It would also help new forum members. Most forums want it to be easy to contact mods.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Nice list, and yes, the Private Messaging system lacks. I have wondered about things that could help improve the community and those are some of the few. Finally someone agrees with the "Message All" button for Chapters, it would make it sooo much easier for Chapter Founders.

For the 'Message All' button, it'd be nice to select whether we want group invites or not. Cause it could get very annoying getting hundreds of PMS a week. The mods could also use this feature to send us updates on rules or whatnot. However, we'd HAVE to receive those.

Nice ideas. They would all help.

The Message All button would only be used in private groups by admins. It would not be used for group invites.

If you don't like getting messages from that group, then leave it. That's a easy solution to that problem.

1. A message-all-members option would be really cool. It would help a lot with activities and such, and you'd be able to keep the group updated very easily.

2. I'd love to have an outbox. Sometimes I forget what I sent, and sometimes I feel like I messed up when writing a reply message.

3. I don't know about an address book. Typically, you can just look at someone's display name and automatically connect it to "Oh, this is (so and so)".

4. I believe that the r.a.d. editing tools will be getting an improvement this time around, or at least a reorganization. It would be nice to have them, although the text markup tags aren't really much to memorize. The tools really make it easier for people who are new to the site or formatting in general.

5. I'm also not sure about the "contact mods" thing. If you need to do that, you can always go to http://mods.kd5shw.com and select a name off that list. Last I heard, kd5 or jmh had fixed the problem caused by the New Hawtness, so it should work now.

There's no way for the site's PM system to differentiate between a regular PM and a group invite though.

B.net could members the option to not receive any of the PM all members pms, or you could just block the admin who is spamming you with pms. There could also be a limit on how often the feature may be used. However, an address book could also be used in its place.
