I'd rather face a botter than a really good player– botter will lack the other skills that a truly good player has.
Last night I was accused of botting. I can't bot– I play on a Mac. As far as I know, the bots are all PC. We were playing CTF on Blood Gulch with sniper weapons, with shields. Some guy on RED was going to the cliff to the and sniping our team pretty effectively. I could hardly see him, yet he'd nail 2-3 of us with head shots each clip of ammo. I kept zoomed on the crest of the cliff. I saw the tippy top of his head and shot it, killing him. He went straight back to the same spot. I saw the top of his head again and shot it again.
I must have done it 10-15 times, (isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results?), and he finally accused me of botting. People were laughing at him. I had a really decent ratio, like 27-7, but other players had 75 or more kills. I told him maybe if he tried a different spot or didn't stay prefectly still I might miss him. It got to where I'd watch him going to the cliff, but I would not waste my ammo on him while he was moving, since I knew a moment later his head would pop up right in my sights.
Given that he had been hitting us so easily and remaining so well hidden, (only the smallest sliver of his head was peeking over the edge), I though HE might be botting, but never accused him.
I find most people who cry about botters need more practice.
