Ok.. is it just me? or has no one else, not even Bungie, realized that these maps are just terrible? Allow me to explain before you fanboys flame me (most of which dont even have the new maps yet because they don't own xbox live)
Sure... the layout is great and when i first heard they were remaking Hang em High, i was more than excited...
But now that i have them, i see so many things wrong with these maps. They don't even look or feel like they were tested...
I have always been a huge Halo fan, and I remember having LAN parties at friend's houses. Hang em High was easily one of the greatest maps for halo 1. It was mainly a pistol map, and you played anything from FFA, to CTF, to TS on it.
Now from what I have seen in Halo 2 so far is that the experience of the so called, "Hang em high remake" is no where near like the original. For one, the spawn points are HORRIFIC, and I think i might never play these maps again if they are not fixed. Blue team constantly spawns in the SAME EXACT SPOT (on top of Blue base), in perfect view of the enemy's BR reticule. Secondly, The map is too open. I can understand that they wanted to keep the same layout from the original HH but I have yet to see anyone who is stuck in the middle of the map survive. Basically, if you're in the middle, be prepared to get lead pumped into your head. There are TWO overshields, one of which is in a TERRIBLE spot on the map. The overshiled next to red base is fine, seeing as how the red base is the defensive base.... but i think the overshield in the trench should be taken out and a cloak should be put in near Blue base... that way you might be able to actually move across the middle of the map WITHOUT DIEING! Remeber the cloak on the original HH? I think that worked quite well. Why did you have to mess with it? But no, you replaced it with the 100% ACCURATE, SUPER POWERFUL BRUTE SHOT!!
Also... If you haven't noticed, <I>Bungie</I>, There is an invisible wall/barrier in front of the red base entrance that negates ALL SHOTS! whether its from a BR or a Rocket Launcher! I don't know about you, but doesn't this just scream, "THIS MAP WASN'T TESTED, JUST RUSHED TO MARKET FOR PROFIT!!!"
And dont even get me started on Desolation.
since there is a rocket in the middle of the map, and a lift ten feet away from that rocket leading to an OVERSHIELD, Here is Desolation in a nutshell from a player's point of view...
"HEY LOOK! A ROCKET LAUNCHER!"
"HEY LOOK! A LIFT!"
"HEY! THAT LIFT JUST MADE ME LAND DIRECTLY ON AN OVERSHIELD!"
"HEY! I HAVE OVERSHIELD AND A ROCKETLAUNCHER! MAKING ME PRETTY MUCH UNSTOPPABLE!"
"HEY! LOOK! AN SMG START NOOB!"
*NOOB was killed by F TO THE AGGET*
"PWN. ROFL. LMAO. IMA-blam!-."
Seriously Bungie, did you even look at these maps after they were "finished"?
They earn the -blam!-t!est map award next to Elong-blam!-tion and Backwash.
I can only hope that these things are fixed before they are released to matchmaking...
or we will all be stuck at 1 for a while after the rank wipe
