Hey Bungie please ask/tell microsoft to tell us the server is full if the server is full.Instead of some generic contact support message.MS that will save you money $$$$$$$$ on all those CSR from another land you pay.

READ THIS: I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!! Not that I'm an expert on the topic, but I had the error msg, "Purchise (sp) failed; You will not be charged for this transaction. Please try again later." I took some advice from a friend online who said to go into the Xbox dashboard (I'm on regular Xbox; Idk if this applies to 360) and set the time zone like really far ahead (I did Atlantic time) and the date really far ahead as well (I just dd a year later..2008). And then I just tried it over and over and over again until finally it worked. So do that and just keep trying and it should eventually work.

Your a complete idiot....

THE TIME HAS NONTHING TO DO WITH DOWNLOADING

You don't have to change the time just keep trying. Be patient, the servers are guaranteeed to be filled up for awhile..hence why there waiting untill the 24th to put them in matchmaking. And stop complaining about Bungie not posting anything. I had the same problems on some of the first ones. Just CHILL out and wait.

Hmm. I kind of expected to get something in return for my 4 dollars.
This is just annoying. Any confirmed reason for this?
Oh, and since everyone else is doing it, I'm in NJ.

Funny how it successfully took my money but failed to give me the product.

Same here. This sucks ass.

This has been said elsewhere, but...

At this point, the 'Installation Failed' may be the endgame until XBL or CA or Bungie finds a solution.

There are 4 more things you could try:

1. Clear the temporary cache. Reboot your X360, but hold down the A button. That will clear it, but some games like Oblivion may load slower as it re-fills the cache over time.

2. Highlight the HDD in the System blade/Memory, click Y, then enter this code in order: X-X-LB-RB-X-X . A prompt will say 'Do you want to perform maintenance?' If you choose 'Yes', it will clear out your Update cache for ALL YOUR GAMES, meaning that games like GoW or Crackdown will also need to re-download the recent updates next time you play them. This is advanced, and not recommended unless you're desperate.

3. Perform 1, 2, and then, go into Memory/Games and DELETE YOUR ENTIRE HALO 2 FOLDER. Yes, this will suck, because you lose your savegames and all the previously downloaded maps. (If you've got a mem card, knock yourself out.)

4. At some point, try playing a few games of Matchmaker. Halo 2 may have some built-in housecleaning of the maps that may resolve the error.

IF ANY OF THESE WORK, PLEASE COME BACK AND TELL US. I can't test this because I'm at work until this evening. I've tried everything except the A button cache clear, which I only found out about a few hours ago.

it still isnt working wat the -blam!-....ive contacted xbox multiple times and the have no fn clue wat is wrong with it. and even when it starts to download at the very beginning like 10 secs after it stops and says "installation of content failed"

Okay, forgive me for the bump, but it's June, and I still can't download the maps. What is going on, bungie?

The progress bar jumps from about 2% to 100%, and I then recieve the installation of content failed message.

The inability to enter most of the matchmaking playlists is really starting to annoy me. Xbox live customer support had no answer...

I have comcast in colorado. My friends are having the same problem. Waisting an hour in front of the TV didn't help, and trying the download every hour of the day didn't help.

BUNGIE! HEEEEELLLP!

solution, right ive been reading these forums for ages, trying to find someone witha good solution. i tryed and tryed it just kept coming up with the same message, 'installation of content failed'. i gave up for the night, came back the next night and tryed again...success!!! finally!!! try it about 5 o'clock in the evening on a day likie monday, it is normally quiet at this time.
you will still get the message every now and again whilst downloading but just press ok and try again on the same map, every time you will get further untill eventually u get there. you may need to stop and try another time.
thanks guys gd luck,
