I know you can use your Xbox gamertag to play Halo 2 on Vista, but what will your friends see on Xbox 360? Will there be anyway of comunicating with them from vista to 360?

1.) Probably "Halo 2 (PC)" or something. That or "Online in Windows Vista" when you're not playing something.
2.) Yeah, it'll basically be the same thing, only it won't be a -blam!- to type stuff (of course). Voice recording can be done with a mic (again, obviously).

Too many changes to make it cross-platform. It's probably an issue with the Xbox version as well. If I'm not mistaken the console version would have to recognize the PC version in some way to make it compatible. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to put that in an updated XBE, but if they haven't done it, it's probably too complicated.

1. The game has already been out for over three years, do you want your ass handed to you by experienced veterans playing on consoles?

2. Like Shdwsnipa said, compatibility issues arise. Plus, keep in mind that Halo 2 is an original Xbox title, not a 360 game, and Live Anywhere will only support the 360 and Windows Vista PCs.

Making an educated guess on what they will see but I figure they will see that you are playing Halo 2 Vista. That way it will be easier to figure out if you are joinable or not. I know I would hate to get my Xbox version put in only to find it was the PC version.

So I figure it will say for example:

PsychoRaven Halo 2 Vista

Also you will be able to do anything on Halo 2 Vista that you can on any 360 game. So you can private chat, send messages, etc. You can't however do this with Halo 2 Xbox users. This is because while Halo 2 works on the 360 it is programmed using original Xbox live functionality. So no messages, private chat, etc between them.

Also as Bungie and the Hired Gun team have said, no cross platform play. This again is due to it being an Original Xbox game. A game has to be programmed to allow the cross platform play and no original Xbox games allow this because at that time Games for Windows Live was not around. So it can't see anything but Xbox users or Xbox 360 users thanks to it's emulation of the Xbox.

Also since their adding achievements to the Halo 2 Vista version, the kills and all the other stuff you have to do to get online achievements might not count, because you would be playing against people on 360 or xbox 1 and not halo 2 vista.

There is no cross-platform play in H2V.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Well judging by this shot from Kotaku of some achievements being gotten it looks like it will show up as Halo 2 (PC).

Review copy. The game went gold silently and review copies were sent out to sites.
