bah

Calling someone a noob is not nesessarily a put down. New people are new. They ask stupid questions that have been asked a million times. I would never tell someone they're a noob and then not answer their question. I'm fricking staff at Newb World (I had nothing to do with the name) so I think I'm a little more patient than most people here. I almost never flame and am one of the few people who responds to trolls in a way that doesn't provoke them further. So just back off man! Just, just back off! Wahhhhhh! >:0
Note to self: Don't post anything someone could disagree with if I'm going to be away from the site for more than ten minutes. Bad idea. :)

call each other whatever you want, but a shotgun planted up your a$$ is still a shotgun planted up your @ss. who cares what you're called on a message board as long as you've got the right stuff in the game.

Man please, just calm down. Everyone is a "noob" at one point or another. You basically want to penalize people for jumping on the Halo train.

I' don't really care whether people use the term newb or not, but I wouldn't recommend it. I called myself a newb, and stosh sent his ninjas after me. Damn those bastards are fast!

How are we supposed to keep the new people in check? I hereby propose we vote on this issue. People who are labeld noobs generally deserve the title. Maybe a system where people who have been here for a year can label people, and when three labels are made, the title sticks? LOL! That would be great!

You just validated stosh's rule of not calling anyone a n00b. No one should be labelled, no one (no matter how long they have been here) should have any "special" powers in this forum. Just worry about the quality of your own posts. I can't wait until they cut out the post counts.

Well if you suggest a "title" system kind of what Battleground Halo has on ForumPlanet, that would be kind of fun. For example, 100 post and you can make your own title etc etc. But Bungie has already covered why they don't allow this. Anyways, have you taken a look at BGH? It's a fun community but theres alot of flaming if newbs make themselves look dumb and such. Just in case any of you go there, look for me. My name is "Serpent" lol. So it would be cool, but I suggest that if you are allowed a title system, then Bungie has to make stricter rules on Flaming.

http://www.forumplanet.com/3dactionplanet/halo/index.asp

A title system at BGH works like this;

1-99 post=Newb/BOB
100-199 post= Monkey
200-299 post= Halo Bunny
300-399 post=Car Crashing Monkey
400-499 post= Wall-Hugging Hippo
500-599 post= (Forgot)
600-699 post= LightBulb
700-***** post= Your own custom title
Reaching 700 post gives your VIP status, which means that you can create your own avatar.
I'm currently at VIP status right now, reaching that means that you can go into the VIP lounge, a seperate forums for VIPS. But what we discuss in there cannot say. Though to tell you the truth it's not all that special.

So a system like this would indeed be fun, but Mods would have to enforce rules against flaming and spamming. Because alot of newbs at BGH spam to get to 700 post. It takes a couple of months for non spammers otherwise. So I reccomend Bungie and the Mods take a look at Battleground Halo and decide for themselves wether they want a title system or not.

bah

Bad idea. Nothing should depend on post counts.

Acutally it's fun having your own title once you reach VIP. Though it's better not to spam your way with 3 Word Post, for example "that is cool". If you do consistently, everyone is going to know you as the spammer and the newb. So it's better to post intelligently. So if Bungie can file down the rough edges of this "title" system, it might do good and encourage more people to join this forum. No offense to this forum, but it's dead compared to BGH. Though it's still fun to be here because nobody here ever flames.
