I had the same problem. If you are on a 360, follow these steps.

Account management
Manage Memberships
<Click your account>
Click the button for creditcard options
Just re-click your credit card
Sign into Halo 2
Download maps

That worked for me. If you are still having problems, let me know.

I actually had the same problem on the regular xbox. I actually knew right away what the problem was. I had an old debit card from a previous checking account still attached to my account. I thought it would be as simple as calling xbox live and having that card removed, but of course they were unhelpful. They told me there was no way to delete the card from my account. My only solution was, which unfortunately won't really help anyone else, was to recover my boyfriends account onto the xbox and use his gamertag to download it.

ODST Romeo

I have the maps on my 360 but if I try to DL them on my xbox it says my c c info is expired. Then if I try to go into account management it says there are technical difficulties so I can't update my info. What do I do?

Update it through Xbox.com. That's what I did, and it worked fine.

That didn't work for me. I actually had to create a new profile and account. Just sign up and use a 1 month free account. Essentially I just created another account and profile and added a credit card. I heard you can do the same thing with silver accounts. Just add a credit card as payment (like for points and stuff like that), then try to download them off of the new profile. Even though you download it through a different profile, you can play it from any profile.

I've tried to do it several times, going back messing in my account settings getting back to the DC manager and just failing, nothing I do works, I tried it so many times I ended using a different account on accident and it started to download to my surprise but it jumped to the end and said that Installation of content failed. See www.xbox.com for more support information. What is this, now it says that I have purchased it on my account (although I still can't download it) (I don't even know if there is a CC associated with the other account, b/c its not mine) we'll see what happens. oh well guess this is just more proof of Murphy's Law.

I tried to attach my credit card to my account, I have a 360 with a prepaid yearly subscription card. I just looked on my credit card statement online and there are a few verification charges. If you just put in your credit card info, you might need to wait a while for verification. I still can't get the maps, but I just input my credit card info about an hour ago. hopefully tomorrow it will work out.

Nice! This worked 100%!
I had my the credit card my account was on before stolen, so I had to get a new one. I added in the new one, but I guess it doesnt set the new one as default, and clicking it must have made it default. So this works for people with multiple cards on their account as well

How's life?

Takin' forever...

After creating a silver account that is using the 1 Mo. Gold subscription, and clicking on download and getting the message "Purchase Failed," I tried using my 12mo. paid Gold account to access it, but got the good old 'Premium Download' message. I tried that, went to my dashboard, went to my memberships bar, then clicked the 12mo., then clicked change payment, then clicked my credit card, and B-ed out of the menus until it threw me back to Halo 2 mainscreen. I signed in with my regular account and went in and it still didn't work, backed out to sign into the downloads section with my silver account, tried downloading, and failed. then i signed into the downloads section wth my original account, and now it let me 'download' but it says 'installation failed.'

I recall reading somewhere that the upcoming update was going to help users who experienced problems when trying to play Halo 2 on Live like myself. After 2 or 3 games I'm always disconnected and told its a network error on their servers. Is there a solution or patch coming for this or is my Xbox just screwed?

And I've tried everything from alterting family settings to redownloading the patches to even getitng a brand new Live account. nothing works.

Let me add if you are using a Pre-Paid account (subscription card) you will need to associate a credit card to it before you can download the maps. Even if you have entered a card for purchasing Market Place points you will still need to associate that card to your membership under the manage membership option. It took me abit to figure this out as I knew my CC was there as I had purchased points but when I checked my membership it had no card listed. Hope this helps those few remaining people who are still having problems.

At least he tried to help, I did what the OP said and unforunatly it didn't work. I think because I didn't have a CC associated with the new 1 month I used MS thinks I tried to steal from them and locked me out. If I put in my CC info before I tried to buy the maps, it isn't my fault they didn't associate it with purchases, what did I give it to them for? To look at? I guess now the entire xbox system is locked out. I just bought it Sat so I guess I'll return it in the morning. Thanks again to the original poster for at least trying to help, keep on fragging warthogs!
