With the coming of Halo 3, there will likely be a new forum made here at the Bungie.net forums. Therefore, another forum will have to go, just like Zanzibar (which shouldn't have been deleted IMO). The Maw and The Underground are obviously the most likely candidates for deletion, for the following reasons:

The Maw: Face it: Bungie doesn't care about its PC gamers. It's sad but it's true. Bungie has already given The Maw a big FU by taking "The Maw" off of the forum banner; add that to the fact that PC gamers have to wait about 2 and a half years for a game that console gamers have had for since 2004 and it becomes apparent about how much Bungie cares about its PC gamers. I'm not against PC gaming or PC gamers, but come on, stop giving the PC gamers of The Maw false hope. Be up front with them about their priority level, Bungie, and delete The Maw.

The Underground: The number one reason for deleting The Underground is: surprise! ...Spam. I honestly believe that The Underground has surpassed every other forum (including the flood) in terms of the amount of spam. When you say "discuss all things Bungie here", but don't include Halo, that's sort of a contradiction. But that's only one reason that The Underground has so much spam. The Underground, being the "Bungie General" discussion forum, gives the forums a bad look when it has so much spam and locked threads. Delete The Underground, or instantly perma-ban anyone who posts off topic in The Underground. Those are the only two solutions, no amount of warning stickies or threats will decrease the amount of spam in The Underground. If The Underground were to be deleted, then you could integrate general Bungie discussion into this forum, the Bungie Community forum, but don't explicitly state that and the new members will stay away for the most part and go off to New Mombassa or The Flood.

What makes you think that Bungie won't delete another forum? Zanzibar was deleted around the same time that the Halo 3 Forum came into existence (correct me if I am wrong), so what makes you think that they won't do it again?

EDIT: I vote for The Maw. Posting spam in The Underground is fun.

Or... Perhaps with the coming of H3, all Halo 3 discussion should be in the H3 forum we already have.

Because there is no actual need to delete a forum. Technically, Zanzibar didn't need to be deleted but was because of declining forum usage and it was useful to streamline general Halo 2 topics into one forum. I suppose they could delete the Maw but then you'd have all the Halo 2 PC players posting in New Mombasa. The games are on different platforms, so it's convenient to have a forum dedicated to the game on a specific platform, instead of mushing them into one.

it doesn't say "Halo 3 Speculation and Conspiracy Theory Forum" (correct me if I'm wrong!)

It says "Halo 3 forum". and since the Halo 2 forum is alike, and all previous Halo 2 posts are now gone, why does it matter? we can use the same forum. besides, Zanzibar had no real point. not that it's not missed, but it's true.

The Maw has not been FUed. Bungie's entire history is COMPUTER GAMES! although mostly Mac only, it was still computers, not consoles! the fact was, there was no real identity to The Maw anyway. they were never much of a community. and u took this idea from a thread posted shortly after the New Hawtness. i remember it clearly.

The Underground could be deleted. but we don't HAVE to, just WANT to. some of us.

That makes Bungie's betrayal of The Maw even worse, since their history is computer games. Bungie has betrayed their PC gamer fans, and its own history.

are you -blam!- or something? their history was never PCs. the only betrayal they made was against Macs. well, Apple, really.

they were making Halo for the Mac as well. Then, out of nowhere, Bungie was accquired by Microsoft. Bam! Halo comes out for XBOX. then, way later, for PC and Mac.

there was no 'betrayal' against PC. just never much love. against a barely existing community. it was hardly ever very active. so don't exaggerate. their history is from Apple's buddy to Microsoft's puppet. now Ensemble Studios and Wingnut Studios (both owned by Microsoft) are working on two or just one Halo games. Halo Wars and an Unnamed Project. that's the only betrayal. Microsoft now owns you.

so get ur facts straight. some people care about what happens to Bungie. and hate people who act like they know a thing about them, when they really don't.

By the way, one person who cares about something posting every second to a forum does not prove a forum or community is active and thriving. or even twenty people. so please control ur emotions to post FACTS. not OPINIONS.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Who ever said Zanzi was deleted?

I for one do not think deleting either of these forums is going to help all that much. If we delete them then where would all the regulars of those forums go? The PC gamers still need a place to chat and lend a hand to other PC gamers. If we were to merge that with the Halo2 forum all we would get is more flaming and less helpfulness to the people who need it.

As for the Underground it is for the Old Skool games and Bungie the company. It does get its fair share of spam, but I feel that is because of the fact that it is the first forum listed. New members just go their first because it is the first one they see. We could move it but in the end all we would do is get more spam for the next forum that gets put up at the top.

No.

The Maw: Face it: Bungie doesn't care about its PC gamers. It's sad but it's true. Bungie has already given The Maw a big FU by taking "The Maw" off of the forum banner.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that happen to every forum (save the Underground and the Flood)?

Be up front with them about their priority level, Bungie, and delete The Maw.
So I guess then we move all of the topics from the Maw into the Underground. *That'll* solve the problem. People need a place to talk about Halo for the PC. What does it matter when the game comes out; they still want to talk about it.

Bad look? Sorry, I find this excuse to be really stupid. Who are we trying to impress? Who does this look bad to? There is still discussion in there, that isn't about Halo. In fact, a majority of it isn't about Halo. You're asking us to give up on the Underground, when good discussion goes on there. This is as bad as that thread suggesting we ignore the Halo 3 forum a few days ago.

Or instantly perma-ban anyone who posts off topic in The Underground. Those are the only two solutions, no amount of warning stickies or threats will decrease the amount of spam in The Underground.
You're so optimistic! Instantly banning people from the site FOREVER is not good business if they just joined and neglected to pay attention to the rules. I reckon a large majority of the active members of the community (when they first joined) made a few mistakes. I know I did! With your policy, I wouldn't be here today. Thanks!

If The Underground were to be deleted, then you could integrate general Bungie discussion into this forum, the Bungie Community forum, but don't explicitly state that and the new members will stay away for the most part and go off to New Mombassa or The Flood.
First forum in the list = cannon fodder. It doesn't matter what it says, if idiots won't read the forum description of the Underground, they won't read the forum description of the Septagon either.

One day Pezza, one day...

Anyway why do people think that because we get new things old things have to go? And why do people always pick the most essential forums to go. The underground should really be the center of this whole site, and a lot of the people I actually respect on this site are (or were) at home most there. The Maw has probably the best community on the site. Although its slow it's still the most friendly and helpful forum in my opinion.

So instead, why don't we just get rid of all the good stuff? Just take out the whole website and leave an empty shell. And TGP.

Well, thats just the stupidest thing I have ever heard, and it was said before. Looking as H1PC for a reference, PC gamers got free online play, newer and larger maps, more people per game banshee multiplayer. i gotta say that since that was only H1PC, H2PC would be equally as good for PC gamers.

You phail and should not be deleted.

and and one can still see the original names of the forums, and Zanzibar isn't deleted. Zanzibar

Wait. What? Why does a forum need to be deleted? We already have a Halo 3 forum don't we? Can't Achronos just add another forum without deleting one? With the trilions of terabytes on the intertubes, I don't think it'd be neccesary to delete any forum, just so another can take its spot.
