first there was slayer, CTF, oddball, Rally, Race, king of the hill, and team all of the before.

but in halo 2 what will there be?

what would you want there to be.

give your game type a name and explain it.

Well, there's the one flag CTF gametype they showed at E3. To score, you have to get the flag out of the base (if you are attacking) and onto the beach (in the Zanzibar level, that is). Once the attacking team scores, or the time runs out, you switch teams, and the attackers are now defending the flag.

Anything else is speculation. I'm hoping for a return of last man on the hill. That is a lot of fun.

I think it would be cool if they a gametype were one of your team was the "president" and you have to try and get him to the dropship for evacuation. And the other team have to try and stop you from getting him there. The "president" would have an icon above his head. The rest of the team would surround him and keep him from getting killed. It would be a good sniping game for the "asassins" but you couldnt have any rocket launchers (too easy).

They said that there would be an "Assault" gametype where one team delivers a bomb into the other teams base and then they switch if the timer doesnt elapse first.

there's a really fun gametype in UT2004. its called onslaught. you basically connect "power nodes" in a connect the dots fashion. once a node is built, you can move on to the next one. if you eventually take over the node near your enemies base (this can take a long time), you'll have a chance to destroy their main power reactor.

obviously it would have to be modified to fit halo, but the same basic premise still exists.

as for the single flag CTF, couldn't you do that in halo 1? and assault, instead of a bomb, you just carried a flag into your opponents base. (this is all in the gametype editor, just look for it under CTF options)

Yeah, but I think the bombing version is suited towards single flag CTF

If something like that was made, it would undoubtedly be called Escort. The only problem with that is that it doesn't reall fit in with Halo. After all, the fun of it is that you could shoot and kill people, and it's fast paced. The guy you're defending, unless it's an AI bot, wouldn't have too much fun, since he won't get to shoot as much, and won't be let out in the open to do as he pleases. Good thinking though.
