Here's Timmy. Everyone say hi to Timmy.

He's 13 years old. He just got banned from the Bungie.net forums for a simple mistake, probably one the great Zag himself has made at some point.

Now he's in the banned users forum. 7 days later he starts wearing a mohawk, got 3 girls pregnant, and is now in jail for ID theft.

Good job. Another banned user, 'taught a lesson'.

Actually, uh.. That evilcam idea is lookin' good right about now.

Is it me, or does the "banned forum" sound like more fun than the regular forums? Wouldn't that just be a reward?

In other words: Bad idea.

Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.

A banned user forum would be acceptable IMO, however there would some stipulations.

1. in the upper right hand corner, there must be a .gif that displays at all times. This .gif will be directly copied from a shock site based around spinning meat.
2. After hitting the submit button for each post, the user must answer a series of difficult math questions correctly for the post to show up.
3. ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME.
4. At some point during their ban, the user must make a post detailing how sorry they are for commiting their atrocious offense and explain why it was so wrong. This post must use the maximum amount of characters allowed in one post.

Bungie should create a forum for users who get banned, temporarily or permanently. It will serve as a "jail" for banned users. When a user gets banned, they are banned from posting in all of the regular forums and are only allowed to post in the banned user forum. Instead of being banned for a certain period of time, banned users must be logged into their accounts while in the banned user forum for a certain period of time, just like they are serving time. This forum will be unmoderated, so it will undoubtedly be corrupted with spam, trolling and flaming, p0rn, and other undesirable things that you find on Internet forums. Therefore, it would be a worse punishment than just being banned and will contribute to more rule-abiding users posting on Bungie.net.

So you want to punish them by giving them an unmoderated, exclusive hang-out where they can post p0rn?

Is there a downside to your "jail" forum?

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

I have a better idea, allow people to sign up for a forum, but make the sign up prosses ridiculously long and detailed. Kind of like those "free [insert expensive thing here]" websites. To add insult to injury, make them type in two hundred different things to sign in afterward.

Rather than adding metaphorical insult to injury...let's get the real thing.

Oh, and no p0rn.
The only injuries there will be hyper-extended johnson's, all the while turning the forum into fap central.

Why make a forum for banned users when they couldn't obey the rules in the first place?

good point

  • 04.23.2007 2:52 PM PDT

A forum with no rules and no moderators would be heaven for trolls and spammers.

Kinda defeats the purpose of banning them in the first place.

Nice. We reward banned users with shocksite content. A wonderful solution to the problem. A much better solution is forcing people to link their GTs, or they can't post, so people actually think before they post. The GT has to be active, so you can't just post randomly.

Obviously this hurts non XBL users (thats the main problem), but at least Optimatch could use it. Non XBL users don't need to be posting on Optimatch!!

Yes!

Let's give the trolls an unmoderated place where they can plot and organise their next spam attack on the Flood... Sounds like a laugh. I'll just get cam to clean it up, doesn't bother me.

Now this is a plan I can get behind. I say go for it.

Oh, stop it.

Asking for a specific forum for banned users on bungie.net? A forum that allows people with no respect for others to carry on their behavior in an unrestricted environment? Does the person that asked for this go to any other sites on the internet? Any? Any other site? ANY other site than bungie.net? Any other site on the internet? Any other? ANYWHERE ELSE on the internet? Any other site than bungie.net that would have the same type of bad, unmoderated behavior as this requested forum? Any other site? ON THE INTERNET? Any? ANY? OTHER SITE? Any other site on the internet? Sites? On the internet? Sites on the internet? There are other sites on the internet? Other sites on the internet? Many? Many other sites on the internet? Internet? Any of the other sites on the internet? Other than the internet? Any other site on the internet? Any sites on the internet with crap? There is internet? Any sites on the internet with violations of this site's Code of Conduct? Conduct? On the internet? With sites? Any? Any other sites? ANY OTHER SITES ON THE INTERNET?

I don't think the original poster has a very good idea.

So...many...questions...

I support this idea. It will achieve its purpose, separating spammers from non-spammers. All of the spammers will go to this forum, and not be on this forum. What more do you want? All Bungie has to do is create the forum and ignore it forever. Is that so hard? The answer to defeating the spammers is to divert them! Bungie, you have the resources to do this, so please act now! If Bungie does not act on this idea, then they are hypocrites for supporting spammers.

Hey what about the guys who break the rules in the "jail" forum. Would they be moved to some sort of lesser forum beneath that?

What about those who are sorry and want to get back to using the forums. I imagine there are a lot of those who would like that. If they are sincere about it.

Forum ninjas are the forum moderators. They're the meanest, dumbest, and overall most useless users with special titles.

Master Forum ninjas are just that, Forum ninjas who have been given extra leeway to moderate the forums. They are the smartest and most capable moderators, but they're still jerks, so I'd stay away from them if I were you.

This is a good idea. Eventually, people will run into some very disturbing p0rn or something in the forums and regret ever getting banned. It is worth making this forum just for that.
