The screen shows when it's loading maps. If you've got a ton of them (like >10 gb for me) it can take over 5 minutes to load. I suggest using the halo map manager or similar program if that's the problem.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't understand your question fully.

Yeah, it's just that Halo is loading all the maps, that's why it's slow.

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

thanks for the link, bad news though

I left the "halo screen" open all night, and all morning
guess what

no change... what has happened?
It MIGHT be the disk (it is starting to look like crap...) but I don't feel like spending nine dollars (i have other intents for that 9 dineros for now) so what could the problem be?

back up your maps and reinstall, and see what happens.
when Halo starts to act really weird like that, some times it just takes a reinstall to fix it.

Sounds serious Feet. I dont think know if this will help, but you should try backing up all your maps and reinstalling Halo CE. It will be a big pain to do that all over again, but there is nothing else I can think of right now.

Hm, that's weird, my Halo CE screen takes 5-7 minutes to load. I only have 5 gb's of maps. Would it depend on the speed of your computer?(ram, etc.)

  • 04.23.2007 2:47 PM PDT

yes, it does, right now I have about 8 9 GB of maps, and it takes less then 10 minutes, on my laptop, with only 4 to8 GB it took half hour to a hour, so when I was waiting I'd go eat, watch TV, or read a book, if it takes that long, get a new computer.

Just for the record, I got this kind of problem from forcing anti-aliasing for my NVIDIA card. Halo CE would just stay at the loading screen. So that's one more thing a person could check for.

I'm having this problem with the trial edition of halo, I have no idea what to do. I also have the Halo PC CD that I bought in a shop, but I'm having trouble with that as well, it keeps saying "Halo Setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\maps\sounds.map. Make sure your hard disk is not full, and that the file is not in use", can anyone shed light on this?
