I have two 256 RAM things in my computer. Can I put a 1 gig in there? or do I have to get two 512's for it to work?

H2V won't run, because you don't have a graphics card.

That's like saying, "Hey everybody, I can play basketball, so why won't Halo 2 run on my computer?"

You know what I do when I don't know something, I use goggle and research into it. It may take some time but I think you'll find it much more satisfying then being spoonfed....at least I will.

Good luck.

I'm going to guess that you have a Dell, and that it is either the Demension 'E' or 'C' seires. You need to find out in teh manuel what speed the memory is and the type, 4200, 3200, etc.
If its a Dell you can just go under the manual section to find it.
I can't reply to this till tomorrow.

Just checked my specs again... It's funny because I have 2056megs(2gigs+56megs) of RAM. Usually the memory shorts a little in the drives. I actually have more than I should, instead of less. lol.

My system is so great. Runs Vista very well. I have had minimal problems. One major problem was with my Printer. It is an HP C3 100 series. They had no drivers for it online . System said it wasn't compatible. I uninstalled everything about that Printer, then re-installed it. It works now.

How many slots do you have available for new RAM chips? If you have 4 slots, you should keep both of your 256's and get a couple 512's or a GB. The choice is yours. The only real rule is the pins have to match for it to fit into the slot. If you have 184 pin RAM, buy 184 pin RAM. It's a good idea to have your RAM have the same frequency and case latency. You can find that on one of your existing RAM chips.

FYI @ StaticWolf, you did not get extra ram, computers count in 8 basically, so the when you say a gig, that is actually 1024 megabytes and so on.

Okay, crack open your case, remove a stick of RAM, look on the sticker, and tell us what you see.

Tell us what it says for standard, i.e. PC2100, PC3200, etc. That will help determine your speed. Or else it will say DDR 667 or DDR 800. This is the same thing.

Count the pins, the little metal things on the bottom, and multiply by 2. That's your pin count.

A good idea also is..if you have four SD RAM slots in the motherboard, you could simply get 3x 256mb ram.. but most old systems have 2 slots so to pair up get 2x 512mb or 2x 1gb. I recommend 2x 1gb as this is larger. Also what video card you got?
