My halo chat function doesn't work any more
I can join servers but I dont see who I have killed and the welcome message and more things. I cant chat either.
It does work on another computer, at another location..
It also worked nice on this pc 2 weeks ago, but since I have installed a new version of McAfee virusscan plus 2007 (with vista update) it does not work any more.
Im using windows vista.
I have opened al the ports (for halo 80,2302 and 2303.
In my router the ports ar also opened
I allowed gamespy arcade because McAfee thinks its spy ware, but I think that it's not spyware, so I allowed it.
I reinstalled halo, I shut down Mcafee, I uninstalled mcafee but it still doesn't work!!
Then I reinstalled halo without Mcafee, but still no succes. The chatting and other possibilities still dont work.
I dont know what to do now!!
Can someone please help me.

Go into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo and look for the msxmlenu.msi file. Double-click and run that file and see if that takes care of it.

Here is one big idea that I think of just about every time I come face to face with a problem that I don't know how to fix, or that no one else knows how to fix, it's called "Reinstalling the game" it's worked 90% of the time, that other 10% was my computer's fult.

No one likes a smart ass, but thanks for your help anyway.

Are you using a widescreen monitor?

Your antivirus is obviously the main cause f your problem, it must have thought one of the files on the game was a virus or spyware considering it directs on the internet to foreign servers and deleted it. Delete your spyware and reinstall the game.

Sorry i meant antivirus...

Yes i'm using a HP Wide screen 19 (1440x900 pixels)
But it worked with that screen some time (halo workeds well till 2 weeks ago)
I deleted the spyware, there was a virus on my computer that I deleted also.

But, the spyware from halo is adware. Its called gamespy arcade and is for the chat function in the game so I don't want to delete this adware.

Now disable your antivirus and play Halo if there's no difference than this isn't your antivirus's fault if any other difference occurd on ur PC when the game whent funny then that's probably the reason.

it's your widescreen, change ingame resolution so that the text fits on your screen. (it's not adware or a virus, as that person above keeps trying to tell you)

mcafee sucks, I've got AVG, and it doesn't tell me everything is a danger to my system.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.
