In halo multiplayer when you died, you'd get a look at your corpse for a second or two and then the camera would start tracking other players.

In halo 2 online do you think you should still be able to talk when you die?

If you think about it, it makes sense for your "outgoing voice" channel to be cut untill you respawn. After all it doesn't make any sense to have someone who dies talking does it?
Critically a dead person will most likely say "sniper in this postion.. blah blah" Since the person is dead i would argue that they shouldn't be able to say such things. After all if you kill someone in real war they don't blab about your position.

Also, if the camera locks on to an enemy player the dead player can see their position and tell their team about it. Which makes a stealthy game slightly worse.

If you think about it from a different view you could argue that your going to respawn in a second or two anyway, so stopping people talking in the mean time is probably going to cause more irritation than make the game fairer. As the person will tell their team the sniping position when they respawn.

Still, a few seconds of non-communication could be crucial and from a realism point of view dead soldiers can't talk.

if he knows where the sniper is like in halo it will be pretty hard to see where the sniper is if he head shots you

The camera on Halo 1 never tracked the enemy players (on team games (and instead of tracking an enemy in a free for all it should just look at you for the few seconds it takes to respawn)) and yes you are only dead for a few seconds so when you respawned you could tell your team about the sniper. Anyway in conclusion dead people don't speak!

I think I agree Lakatu, good idea, but depending on gametype, a FFA you should still be able to talk.
Also, they will probably only allow you to talk to your team, so it would be cool that if after you killed someone, while they were dead it let you talk directly to them, like as a taunt, I know I'd take advantage of that. :D

If you’re talking about realism, then know that YOU aren’t actually dead, the pixels you’re controlling are. You could tell your teammates anyway… they’re in the room with you!

What if you could record your own voice, so the server played your name out for you whenever you died? Timelimit of five seconds of course, so some jerk wouldn't start rambling over the speakers everytime somebody killed him.

I think it should work the same way as Socom does. When you die you can only talk to other dead players and not to anyone on your team so you can't give away positions of opponents. It makes sense.

I think it should go like this... During a came. of team CTF lets say...before yo join a game there is sorta like a spectator zone..you stay in there till you choose what team you wanna be on.. and you can talk to only the other people is spec.... then when you join your team you can only talk to your team.. and when you die you can keep talkin to your team.

Think about this, however. When you die, and respawn, you go searching after the enemy that killed you, hoping he is still in the same spot. When you respawn, you can easily tell people where the enemy was (or possibly still is)...
