Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

That's all decided through playlist usage and the amount of whining on this forum.

98% of the people who play this game are garbage. If you're one of the 2% who isn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

I think it's only playlist usage.

Because of your thoughts they don't (I don't think) listen to the majority of the forum posts

Many herps were derped back in my day

Bungie doesn't use us to determine Matchmaking decisions and for good reason. You see half of the dumb mother -blam!-s who post here?

I believe the original intention of these forums were to get fan input. Why would Bungie create these forums, pay moderators, allocate server space, if they aren't going to benefit from the forums in any way. I think that alot of people have ruined the threads with pointless and redundant posts. I think this idea would be a way for Bungie to get the input that they wanted in a format that won't be corrupted by immature kids.

It is, they're not paid, hardly and space is taken.

You have playlist usage and collective whining (it becomes repetitive to the point where you can tell the majority feel that stupid way).

As we all know there are many people that create polls here on the forum. Some of the polls are a waste of time while others are actually relevant. The problem with the polls on the forum is that they are naturally biased. The majority of people that comment/vote on polls or the forums, in general, are hardcore players and very few casual players frequent the forums. I believe that Bungie tries to design the playlist to cater to the majority of Halo fans and that they do use fan input when making decisions. As of right now the only information that Bungie can use to monitor fan input is to use the usage stats and to monitor the biased forum/polls. I think an ingame poll would help get an over all idea of what Halo fans want. (I’m thinking of a “Vote on current Poll” on the screen where you choose Optimatch, ContentDownload etc) The content of the poll would be controlled by Bungie and we would be simply allowed to vote. One vote per gamertag. Of course a lot of people have multiple GT (I’m one of them) so a single person could get potentially more than one vote but still the bias is minimal. Also since people with multiple GT paid more to play on live they should get more votes, think of it like owning stock where each share gets you one vote. However I think the number of casual players with one GT far out weigh the number of hardcore with multiple so the poll will remain virtually bias free. The poll could be open for 2 weeks for example so that even casual players who rarely play can still have some input. Bungie can then use the results from the poll to help make their decisions ( I don’t think they should do anything solely based on a single poll).

These are just my thoughts of how to potentially improve the quality of MM. Would it work? Would Bungie do it? I don’t know. I do realize that I may have some errors in logic somewhere that I missed and if so I apologize in advance. But I would like to know what others think of my idea (might not be an original idea after all, not sure about that).

Moderators I had some trouble deciding which forum to post this in. Its not directly a playlist issue but I believe the content is a suggestion that may in turn improve the playlist. If you determine its in the wrong forum then I apologize.

I'd support in-game voting... if I had XBL. Or an Xbox. =P
Still, good idea. A simple yes/no question.
Should x map with x settings be added to / removed from x playlist? Y/NObviously, you'd need an 'Ignore Poll' option for those who simply don't care.

the site, and servers, were used to host Myth LAN parties. the forums were barely used, and they were message boards. then came Chapters. and Halo. so people came. they NEVER used the site for fan input. only the stats that they get to see, playlist usage.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

So...I click on the link that Recon provided in his post, and I read all 5 pages of very long (but well-written) posts, and this is what I gleaned from it....

ACHRONOS TOTALLY MADE FUN OF PENNY ARCADE!!!

Actually, no, but it does show that a lot of people who care about the community are still around. I mean that post is almost nearly 2 years old, and a lot of the people in that thread still post on the forums. Unfortunately, some do not.

I will say this though, and it is merely my opinion, but I do agree with some of what the OP of this thread said. I do feel that the "loud" members are often heard more than the more "quiet" ones. Most people know that I was/am a big fan of the playlists: Actionsack and Carnage because they offered more "laid-back" gametypes. However, they were scrapped for a couple reasons, but some of which people said were low user percentages. Well, from what I can tell and what I've gathered from that time, Team Hardcore had almost the exact same usage levels as either Actionsack or Carnage. However Team Hardcore got to stay while both Actionsack and Carnage were removed. I had a problem with that. So I joined the Optimatch 2.0 group and tried to get some insight into how the decision was made. I never once got an answer. Even if he (and you know who "he" is) would have said, "we kept Team Hardcore because we wanted to appease that demographic" I would have accepted it. Honestly, I couldn't really blame him because I wouldn't want to deal with the headache that would accompany axing THC.

But that was merely the beginning of how I think the "louder" members received far more influence over game decisions than what they should have. Honestly, I've seen the evolution (or actually de-evolution) of gameplay by switching from SMG starts to the majority being BR starts. It is my opinion again, that the only thing that having increased BR starts did was to increase the amount of people who cheat by using BXR or doubleshots. Increasing the ability of obtaining a BR (to 100% since you start with one) allows far more people the opportunity to cheat. Some do it because they want to, while others feel they have to do it to survive now that the "jungle" has been made more cut-throat. I feel that it has ruined the balance of the games.

But nothing gets said, and when it does, it is overwhelmed by the vast amount of people of the "loud" member variety. They come in droves and flame and get away with it. I agree with the OP, the people on B.net are inherently biased. The more "casual" gamer is not going to spend time on the forums, and even if they did, it would not be for extended amounts of time. So that naturally means that the majority of the people on B.net and NOT OF people who play Halo 2 are those of the "louder" variety. They flock here because their worlds revolve around playing Halo 2, and since they spend so much time playing the game, they naturally want to come to the website that is for it (or at least they think it is for it exclusively). They talk about how they want the game to evolve *this* way, and unfortunately it seems that their opinions often times sway.

Unfortunately...I am no James Madison, and this is certainly not Fed. 10, so I cannot address how to rectify this situation. But I do feel that it should be talked about because it seems that the "other side" is rather well represented. Regardless, I shall strive to console myself with the words of Dylan Thomas, and "do not go gently into that good night; rage, rage against the dying of the light".

Apparently I thought too highly of Bungie... and was wrong about some of my assumptions. Oh well lesson learned. I guess I just have to accept that these forums are pointless and they will continue to ruled by 12 yr olds.

I am really getting tired of coming online and seeing nothing but 12 year olds trying to impress others with their new-found pubes.

Yeah you did. Oh and btw thanks for that link you posted above i've read a good portion of it and now have better understanding of the origin of Bungie and how things drastically changed with the creation of Halo and Halo 2.
Its amazing to see at one time their was actually intelligent discussion on the forums. And look at it now *sigh*

I think this is a pretty good idea. But like ALIENwolve suggested: When you play a list a lot, you basically are "voting" for it.
