Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Bungie forums, however, I am not new to Halo games. I was wondering if anyone could help me out to tell me whether my computer will support Halo 2 Vista. I have looked at the minimum specs of the game, but I'm still uncertain. hope you guys can help me out.

These are my specs:

OS: Windows Vista™
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2CPUs)
RAM: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 160 GB
Video Card: Intel GraphicsMediaAccelerator X3000 (integrated) (DX10 Support)
Internet: 10mbps cable
Drive: CD-RW/DVD-R combo drive

While everything appears to surpass the requirements of Halo 2 Vista, I am worried about the Intel GMA X3000 integrated chipset. I can run Halo in 1280-1024 resolution and max settings with No lag. I can also run Half-Life 2 1280-1024 resolution max settings No lag. However, I cannot even start up Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, because that game checks for T&L, and my chipset does not technically support T&L but it emulates it well. Games that generally dont run on my computer, are games that check for T&L, or require NVidia or ATI graphics cards. Some examples are Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2.

I was hoping someone could help me out to see whether Halo 2 Vista checks for T&L or whether it requires an ATI or NVidia graphics card. I didnt wanna spend any money on a new videocard if this one will work. I would appreciate it if some guys at Bungie could answer my question. Thank you.

Did you really need the poll?

Video Card: Intel GraphicsMediaAccelerator X3000 (integrated) (DX10 Support)Do you honestly expect this to run Halo 2 Vista?

The only reason you can play Halo or Half-Life 2 at such high-resolutions is because the rest of your parts are high-end to make up for your crappy GPU--I'm not even sure if you can categorize your integrated chipset as a video card. Just buy something else. Like a GeForce 7950.

Care to explain where the stickies said anything about this class of video processor?

Um, so? That doesn't answer his question.

Nonetheless, you probably wouldn't want to run Halo 2 with such a crappy integrated chipset. I'm sorry, "crappy integrated chipset" was a bit redundant.

ATI makes no sense to me. How can a x700 be better than an x3000? With nvidia you know that if the number is higher, it's better. I have no idea what x3000 is, what it's capable of, and I would guess simply by its name it's better. ATI needs to learn how to name products.

I recommend a 7600GT, it's simply the best card out there for the price.

I think many of you guys are confused. I already know that if the computer can run Halo 2 Vista, it will lag. That's not what I'm concerned about. I would like to know if the game supports the Intel GMA x3000. this chipset is NOT A VIDEOCARD. It is also NOT ATI, its INTEL. I checked the stickie and it only makes mention to ATI and NVidia. To make an example, Guild Wars requires an ATI radeon 8500 or above, or an NVidia geforce 3 or 4 MX series videocard with at least 32MB of RAM. It does not mention Intel's graphics accelerators, that CAN support the game. As a matter a fact, I play the game frequently. I was wondering if I can play Halo 2 Vista with the Intel GMA chipset (I know there will be lag if I can.)

THE STICKIE DOES NOT ADDRESS THE QUESTION!!!

The answer to your question is "maybe, but you're better off buying an actual GPU."

That's what I'm trying to say, Static.

Your system is good, but you seriously need to reconsider your GPU (or lack there of).

OOOOOH. God, I really have to pay more attention. I would make up a lame excuse like I was high on cough meds, but I won't bother. Just whenever I see the x then a group of numbers I immediately thought ATI, kinda skimmed through.

Here is Intel's official sample of games that either run or do not run on the chipset. I would really appreciate it if some developers on the "Hired Gun" team could post and help me out, but I really doubt that they have nothing better to do than to post on a Bungie forum topic. LOL. Anyway, here's the list. If you guys have anything that can help answer my question, I would really appreciate it.

I guess you didnt see that the stickies DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT INTEL INTEGRATED CHIPSETS.
They only mention ATI and NVidia videocards. That is why I didnt put in the option.

I will admit that while integrated cards are not impressive, and it will by all means lag abit if it runs at all. The Intel GMA x3000 is the BEST integrated graphics card, by far, almost to the point of being considered a mediocre video card. As stated before, do not underestimate it. The chipset can run HL2 and Halo flawlessly under max settings 1280-1024 resolution.

However, my question is, will Halo 2 Vista run. I honestly dont know, and I want to see if anyone else knows. If anyone can contact a developer or something, i would really appreciate it.

I believe that you are not only misinformed, stupid, crude and ignorant, but you are also a non-intellectual, who CLEARLY CANNOT READ ENGLISH, let alone act as a civil human being. Let me break down what you said so I can reply to each section appropriately.

Not only did I check google, yahoo, ask.com, altavista, and various other search engines for the answer, but I have also read the faqs AND previous posts on the forum, AND spoken with friends, AND checked the official Halo 2 Vista website for requirements, AND read all of the stickies, AND chatted with ignorant a**holes such as yourself. I believe it is YOU in fact, who has done something "stupid," in that you have proven to be an illiterate piece of c***.

and like everyone said the x3000 sucks balls.

As I have previously stated in the thread, "I will admit that while integrated cards are not impressive, and <Halo 2 Vista> will by all means lag abit if it runs at all. The Intel GMA x3000 is the BEST integrated graphics card, by far, almost to the point of being considered a mediocre video card. As stated before, do not underestimate it. I am not asking whether it will run Halo 2 Vista laglessly under max settings, I'm simply asking whether it will start, or whether it won't start. No one here seems to know the answer, and there is not a single press release that addresses this. If there is, give me a link, and I will tip my hat to you, knowing that my question has been answered.

So I turn now to the developers of Halo 2 Vista, and to the other gaming intellectuals (not to the ignorant obnoxious twelve year olds who don't bother to read), and I ask these people. WILL HALO 2 VISTA RUN ON AN INTEL GMA X3000 chipset? This is the real question, and not one person whom I've spoken to knows the answer. NOT EVEN YOU.

yeah intel intergrated GPU's are getting better but if you read the reviews, they all say that intergrated is not enough yet.

most likely it WILL run it, i honestly dont see why not
