its that time of the month again for me...

anyways, i wasnt saying that u were lying, just remarking that kim will give in to anyone that uses some terms he doesnt understand. u dont have to get your knickers in a bunch (lol, knickers).

but i like how u dont disagree with me when i mention the x3000's core clock is nothing special ,)

i also like how u copy and paste the wikipedia article for the x3000, showing your infinite knowledge...

I'm not getting my "knickers in a bunch," I simply wanted to convey the message that I am not a "fanboy" of intel chipsets by any means. I don't even own one (my parents do), and never have. I like how you automatically assume that because I threw around some mumbo-jumbo, technical, jargon that I'm some kind of self-proclaimed expert on the matter. I didn't disagree with you about the core heat because I don't know anything about the damn chipset. How can I make an opinionated comment about something that I personally know nothing about.

Which brings me to my next point: yes, I did use wikipedia.org to research the GMA G965 express chipset, but I did also research the sources sited in the article as well. Wikipedia is a good source, if you can verify the information given, as I did. All the relavent data is in the Intel "white paper" for that chipset. Right here for your amusement.

Yes, I copied and pasted some information from the wikipedia article (same as in the intel article). Do you honestly expect me to know technically specific information about that particular product right of the top of my head? I hope not, because that would be a judgement lapse on your part. I did research on the subject matter, and posted my findings. The information was in the public domain, and therefore does not need to be overtly cited, least of all on a game developer forum :-\

And lastly, do not triple post, and get yourself a copy of this <-----Joking... kind of.

Oh, and btw, TMI with your first remark...

Cheers.

to be honest, i can rattle off some specs about popular gpu's, so that's not unusal at all. i also know all the clocks for the current c2d cpu's, and a -blam!-load of other random junk.

I have no idea how to make a new thread so i'll just ask here. I have halo 2 for my xbox, but i prefer any shooting game on a pc. I was wondering if my pc will be able to handle halo 2 vista.

My specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ at 2.21 ghz
2 GB DDR2 ram
250 GB SATA hard drive
ATI Radeon X850 256 ddr3 mb graphics card
Windows vista home premium

I think that's all, did i miss anything?
And another thing, will it make any use of the logitech G15 keyboard?

Will it handle it on high? just curious because i can handle battlefield 2, i've tried the 2142 demo and can run that on high also, should this run it good or decently on high?

I would wager to say you could run it on relatively high settings (maybe even the highest)... but no one will know for sure until the game actually comes out.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Bungie forums, however, I am not new to Halo games. I was wondering if anyone could help me out to tell me whether my computer will support Halo 2 Vista. I have looked at the minimum specs of the game, but I'm still uncertain. hope you guys can help me out.

These are my specs:

OS: Windows Vistaâ„¢
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2CPUs)
RAM: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 160 GB
Video Card: Intel GraphicsMediaAccelerator X3000 (integrated) (DX10 Support)
Internet: 10mbps cable
Drive: CD-RW/DVD-R combo drive

While everything appears to surpass the requirements of Halo 2 Vista, I am worried about the Intel GMA X3000 integrated chipset. I can run Halo in 1280-1024 resolution and max settings with No lag. I can also run Half-Life 2 1280-1024 resolution max settings No lag. However, I cannot even start up Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, because that game checks for T&L, and my chipset does not technically support T&L but it emulates it well. Games that generally dont run on my computer, are games that check for T&L, or require NVidia or ATI graphics cards. Some examples are Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2.

I was hoping someone could help me out to see whether Halo 2 Vista checks for T&L or whether it requires an ATI or NVidia graphics card. I didnt wanna spend any money on a new videocard if this one will work. I would appreciate it if some guys at Bungie could answer my question. Thank you.

Hey buddy. I don't know if your question was answered yet (Some of the posts in this thread make me cry), but I can answer it for you now.

No, this is not a guess. This is something I am 99% positive of from information released regarding H2V.

Yes, your computer will be able to run H2V on high resolution with low to medium settings due to your midrange-equivalent GPU. A simple and cheap upgrade will get you running the game on Maximim settings w/ Antialiasing in no time. See you online after the launch!

alright so i picked up my pc for 500 bucks and i dropped 50 on my G15 keyboard, 35 for my headset, and 89.99 for my razer Copperhead mouse, i really don't want to dump more money into it because im only 15, and money is tight for me... Even on medium that's fine with me, i don't make a big deal over graphics like some people do. Just because one game wont run on high doesnt mean it's time to hit the stores and get a new gpu, maybe in the future i'll upgrade to duel 8800 GTX's and intel core 2 duo extreme but for now im just going to save up some cash and wait for prices to go down. Thank you for your help guys... can't wait till may 8th, not only is it the H2V release day but it's my birthday and i learn to drive... WOOO

After taking the slightest of glances, I can tell you with almost complete certainty, that your computer will have no problem running H2V. I'm pretty sure it will run on max settings with minimal or no lag. As for the keyboard, I have no idea. I don't own that keyboard, but I hear its the best in the business.

oh no, kim has to upgrade to the -blam!-y 7800gt to get his h2v fix!

actually, i did some reasearch and there is an xfx agp 7950gt. it costs $270 (cheapest 512 mb 7950 costs $215), but itll run h2v without a hitch.
Dude, I'm going to run Halo 2 with lowest settings at 800 X 600 and hope for the best on my GeForce 6600... ugh...

at $270 it is a much better idea to get a x1950xt which is a bit more powerful. Here

You said that you can run Oblivion on max settings? What videocard do you have? If you can run Oblivion, then I know we dont have the same videocard.

get a 8800 after hd 2900 xt comes out the price will be lower and you will be ready for crysis. on a different note anyone thinks that with the hd 2900 you could force 24x antialising with h2 just like people turned it to 2x so that antialising would work with halo 1
nope the 8800 GTX is better than the 2900xt

I was simply curious as to how he came to the conclusion that my computer will be able to run Halo 2 Vista on high rez with low to med settings. My main reason for concern is this.

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-011910.htm

"A small number of games that specifically check for hardware T&L support may fail to run."

I'm worried that Halo 2 Vista might check for this, like COD2 and many others.

Yes, see it says a small number of games. This is no "small" game and even though it is forcing you rather bluntly to make an OS swith, it still is trying to appeal to a large group. Including that would be crushing to the reception of the game, and with as many technologically uniformative people are in this world, that wouldn't be a very smart move. But I could be wrong, as I am not working in M$ marketing, nor am I creating or publishing the game.
