Slaying noobs since 2007.

So you don't really want an answer to your question, you just want to know why people are confident in theirs? You have gotten some very good supporting answers, but to be very honest we won't know, and if one of us does know then you will question how they got theirs, hence ongoing process.

I'm looking for a confident answer that is supported by facts. I have yet to see any facts other than stuff like, "Dude, H2V wont run, 'cause integrated sux." Or a variation off of that. No one is giving me something like, well based upon the fact that intel is supporting a game with a similar engine, H2V will work, or something like that. No one is giving me an answer, and if I am mistaken, please point out the mistake.

Ok, this is mainly just your preference but I personally am not sure, some of me says "Absolutely not.", but the other says "Well it could possibly just not very well.", but if it does work it won't work like a charm, but if it doesn't work then..... it doesn't work.

And my response to that is, "So what will it perform like. Not very well, or not at all. And what do you base this conclusion on." OMG, someone gimme a clear answer. ARGHHHHHH!!!!

Because integrated was not designed to give you 8800 GTX like graphics, no where close to it actually, that is why if it works at all then it would be low settings.

IF it works. I understand that IF it works it will work on medium to low settings, however, the question is WILL it work, or WON'T it work.

Yeah, maybe you missed the part where that was cleared up for me and I posted this:

Yeah, with a integrated DX10 next-gen chip, I would think so.

Maybe posting the computer you bought next time would clear up the question quicker? What do you have? A Voodoo?

Um, now I'm just confused. Are you asking me what my computer specs are, or what my computer manufacturer is?

It's a Dell Dimension E520. But I don't see how that helps.

Well, since your integrated chipset comes with it, that would tell him something.

You know, the real key test, to see whether our computers will run H2V or whether they wont, is to download the demo and try the game out that way. Does anyone here know when it's coming out, or any information pertaining to this soon to be released demo?

Your final answer:

The integrated chip set you currently have is the new wave of integrated chips from Intel. To make a long story short, if the game supports your said chip set, then it'll run quite well. Your integrated chip can be compared with newer technology today, especially since it utilizes DX10 when possible.

Now, the biggest draw back to this chip, of course, is whether or not the game supports it. Most gaming companies require ATI or nVidia, mostly because those two graphic chip companies might be "supporting" them, which is why many times you will find that some games run better on different chips. Considering this chip was designed for the highest version of Windows Vista, I would definitely say, in my opinion, that Halo 2 Vista will support it. If it doesn't, then I would then think that they would come out with driver updates. In the end, I doubt Microsoft would neglect a new generation chip that was aimed exactly at its new operating system.

You can read more about your chip here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA

It also has its own manual:

You know, I went and Wiki'd that Intel chip the other day, and it's quite impressive for an integrated card.

I do. That is, I have a video card of that caliber.

Integrated graphics chips use up too much of your system resources. Most integrated chips I’ve seen through the years use onboard memory not ddr at all.

OMG, the release date was just delayed to the 22nd of May. That means my countdown to H2V timer shot up from 4 days remaining, to 17 days remaining...WTF!?! I guess it'll be another three weeks before I can see if my computer will support it. I can't understand why they just couldn't put the updates in a patch.

Did you really need the poll?

Video Card: Intel GraphicsMediaAccelerator X3000 (integrated) (DX10 Support)Do you honestly expect this to run Halo 2 Vista?

The only reason you can play Halo or Half-Life 2 at such high-resolutions is because the rest of your parts are high-end to make up for your crappy GPU--I'm not even sure if you can categorize your integrated chipset as a video card. Just buy something else. Like a GeForce 7950.

i 2nd that!!!!!!!!! its true trust me i know cuz i too got me a new computer thinking that it would be able to play everything.but i found out that everything but the gpu is high end.i say u get the GeForce 7950 its what i got and its the -blam!- TRUST.plus that graphics media accelerater isnt really ment to make 3D graphics.

I did not miss it, and I believe that it WILL in fact come out in circuit city because it would not make sense for it to be delayed so late in the process for bungie to make a complete recall to fix the products. I find it hard to believe that the game will be delayed for another three weeks. I have seen the updated weekly ad flier for Circuit City, and it says "available Wed., 5pm." I am in the group of people who have faith in the retailers rather than a single behind the scenes report made by gamepro, and a few companies that have changed their pricings. As the NYMets' motto says "Believe."

SUCCESS!!! Got the game and it works. It does lag under medium settings, but it works, and is awesome. I'm surprised a demo didn't come out before the game itself, so that I could test out my integrated video card's compatibility, but hey... it worked so I'm not complaining.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Bungie forums, however, I am not new to Halo games. I was wondering if anyone could help me out to tell me whether my computer will support Halo 2 Vista. I have looked at the minimum specs of the game, but I'm still uncertain. hope you guys can help me out.

These are my specs:

OS: Windows Vista™
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2CPUs)
RAM: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 160 GB
Video Card: Intel GraphicsMediaAccelerator X3000 (integrated) (DX10 Support)
Internet: 10mbps cable
Drive: CD-RW/DVD-R combo drive

While everything appears to surpass the requirements of Halo 2 Vista, I am worried about the Intel GMA X3000 integrated chipset. I can run Halo in 1280-1024 resolution and max settings with No lag. I can also run Half-Life 2 1280-1024 resolution max settings No lag. However, I cannot even start up Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, because that game checks for T&L, and my chipset does not technically support T&L but it emulates it well. Games that generally dont run on my computer, are games that check for T&L, or require NVidia or ATI graphics cards. Some examples are Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2.

I was hoping someone could help me out to see whether Halo 2 Vista checks for T&L or whether it requires an ATI or NVidia graphics card. I didnt wanna spend any money on a new videocard if this one will work. I would appreciate it if some guys at Bungie could answer my question. Thank you.
