I just want to know, if this is possible;

Finally making use of this blog I created almost a year ago. What a busy year it's turned out to be, from the inception of the Alky Project to the creation of Falling Leaf Systems and the Sapling Program.

As a fitting start to this blog, I'm proud to release a preview of our DirectX 10 compatibility libraries. These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista, and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn't capable of running it. No longer will you have to upgrade your OS and video card(s) to play the latest games.

The current preview allows you to run a number of examples from the DirectX SDK on Windows XP. They're not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but we want to whet your appetite. We hope to release builds in the coming months progressing from demos to fully functional games. We also plan to post on this blog from time to time with screenshots and videos of what's to come.

The preview build is available here. Inside this zip is a README.TXT file with complete instructions on where to install the files (don't worry, we'll have an installer in the near future) and how to get and run the examples from the SDK.

We at Falling Leaf welcome your feedback, and we're committed to giving you the best high-end gaming experience possible, regardless of OS.

I see it happening, just not this way. From what you posted here, they are adding compatibility for DX10 to programs meant to simulate a Windows environment, but Halo 2 Vista is a DX9 game, so your DX10 compatibility in all truthfulness does nothing. you would need to incorperate more then just the way the system runs graphics to run Halo 2 Vista most likely, seeing as the program is made to run on only Vista. it may be possible though, but with limited fuctionality.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

To get it to run on any platform, you first need to get the Games for Windows Live runtime installed. That will be a huge problem on Macs, Linux, BSD, or even XP.

not only that but if you port a game to a new platform with out the game makers saying yes, you'll get your but in jail.

Reading comprehension is your friend, just so you know. Read the post and you will see they arent talking about porting the game.

Like said above, this isn't the only thing you have to get around to get h2v, or any other vista title, working on non-vista platforms. However, even if it was, you are defeating the purpose of DX10. Its a new standard, it forces people to upgrade their -blam!- hardware. That only comes out good in the end.

H2V is a DX9.0c title and makes no use of DX10 hardware. Name a game that requires DX10 hardware period. There is none. Not Crysis, not Halo2, not anything.
