so with the release of hang em high on halo 2 i got the urge to play halo ce this past weekend. I still own my orginal copy of halo (in good condition) and i went to best buy and picked up a "platinum hits edition". me and my roommate both have 360s so i figured system link would be no problem but I was wrong. every time i tried to join the system link game it would say "failed to join system link".

I tried going through a router, i tried going through a crossover cable from box to box and nothing worked. I know the boxes were communicating because I could see the system link game that had been created i just couldnt join. There are only 2 reasons i could think of, either i cant play system link on 360's or the platinum hits edition is different from the original, but neither of those really make much sense. please help.

Well, what you can do is either get a non-platinum edition or a platinum edition of Halo to use. Or you can just use Xbox 1s instead of 360s.

Two time Mythic member

I got an xbox and a 360, an original disc and a platinum, I don't have a problem linking them. Maybe one of your 360's needs an online update or something?
I use a original Xbox system link cable to link them.

Well, since the 360 is more faster than the origional version, it's possible that the Xbox just can't keep up with it. However, linking a 360 with the Xbox does work. If you're using a 360 system link calbe, that mught be the problem. Try using the origional system link cable.

That made me laugh. :)

Sorry, but the Xbox actually offers better performance to the 360 when it comes to Halo. That goes for most original Xbox titles, too. Games like Halo were meant to be run for the Xbox, by the Xbox, for efficiency and performance. Even with the 360's superior hardware, the Xbox runs the games much faster.

I think it might have something to do with an onine update becuase i had the same problem with an original Battlefront 2 Disc and a Platinum Hits one, they just wouldn't connect to each other on a system link 360 to xbox. Don't know what to tell you but i've never had a problem with my Halo discs
