Sigh. I bet you're one of the same guys that was demanding to know the date of the beta and is still demanding to know the date Halo 3 will be released. I wonder if you understand the irony there? I think a little reality check is in order.
The playlist update and rank reset were announced a date, but here is what we said: "This is currently slated to happen around 4/24 to 4/27ish but we’re going to wait and see how things are going online before locking that down. We’ll keep you posted."
Notice the part I underlined. Explain to me exactly what part of that isn't professional or honest. Would have prefered we not tell you about a rank reset? I mean, we could reset things right now, but given the problems some people are having, that wouldn't be prudent. Gee, that's EXACTLY why we said we hadn't locked things down. Imagine that - a date changed because we had to adjust to the situation! It seems to me an the lack of "professionalism" is in your analysis of the situation, not our decision making process.
And what dates are have we missed? I seem to recall Halo 1 being released when it was supposed to. Halo 2 also was released on the day we said it would be. I'm somewhat curious as to what dates were missed? I don't mind people complaining about the download issues, or even that they have to wait longer for the matchmaking update or rank reset - those are perfectly legitimate issues. But calling us unprofessional because we miss a date that we even told you was subject to change? Please. Come back when you have a valid complaint.
In reply to your first question, the part of that statement that is unprofessional is the "ish but we’re going to wait and see how things are going online before locking that down. We’ll keep you posted." part. I think the other part that is really erking us all is Frankie's "This playlist update and rank reset will probably occur next week, pending the outcome of our ongoing work with the Xbox Live team." A truly accountable company would balk at making such public statements to it's eagerly awaiting customers. One could even consider what was done as a bait and switch, although I'm sure some slimy lawyer somewhere made sure that you included the last parts about seeing how things are going and keeping us posted. Let's compare your statement to a real world situation. Your mom just asked you when you are going to clean your room, you coyly respond "Mom, currently I'm planning on cleaning my room in a couple hoursish, but I'm just going to wait and see how things are going, I'll let you know for sure when I make a decision. I'll keep you posted" and than a couple hours later when she asks again when you are going to clean your room you again coyly say "Mom, I've had some issues, so I'll probably be doing it later, pending the outcome of how I feel in the meantime." I don't know about you, but if i said that to my mom, she would look me in the eyes and say "You're full of *blam*. Quit making excuses and get it done". Which is the same I say to you.
I mean, we could reset things right now, but given the problems some people are having, that wouldn't be prudent.
How do you consider shunning your PAYING customers to be fair? If you ask me, you are being too prudent - again as I said previously, pick up your skirt and do it, what are you guys so scared of? - I'm guessing the real reason you haven't done the update is because of people who have paid for the map and can't download it yet. Fair enough. But you know as well as I do that a good business always has a contingency plan. It seems, in this case at least, that the contingency plan was to make vague statements so that you could withdraw any previous statements and run to the hills with your metaphorical tail between your legs when things went wrong. What about a statement regarding a "Team Preview" playlist? As others have stated, every other map pack release was immediately followed by an addition to matchmaking so that users could begin playing the new maps immediately while any download issues were resolved. Why not this time? A: Because it was too much work and it was much easier to just do one playlist update instead of two.
As to missing dates, wasn't halo3 originally supposed to be released hand in hand with the 360 as an initial 360 offering? Then I do also remember rumors about a push to release halo 3 this past Christmas? Granted, a lot is rumors and yes you have been very secretive and probably haven't ever said anything about these dates, so fine, according to what YOU guys say and release, you're on time, but it's easy to look like your on time when you create the schedule and news releases now isn't it?
On a side note, why does it seem like we never see any posts from you (Achronos) until somebody just says something God awful and stupid and you feel the need to lash out? Why not a kind and *professional* response with any kind of useful info like "Hey everyone, we're really really really sorry, in the meantime, we are working as hard as we can to both solve the download issues and we are currently debating about whether or not a team preview playlist would be possible." Instead, your response is simply a cold, dry, sarcastic shadow of a statement, just like Frankie's statement that started this whole debate.
