Let me explain what i mean: Lets take a look at BTB Skirmish. When it was first removed, the outcry was enormous. Now, it has gotten lower. Gradually over time, it will be reduced to the occasional "clanmatch" or so type of thread. I have seen this with many things, the ranks being reset, the maps costing money, etc. At first, the communal outcry is enormous. Then eventually, most of the community accepts the decision and moves on. So, eventually the community accepts all decisions by Bungie that make sense, and 90% of them do make sense. Of the other 10%, 90% of that is just stuff like the letters to the webmaster, and the disembodied soul, which are humorous, and are great. So eventually, the community accepts Bungie's decisions, even though there is a large initial outcry.

Well, it's not like we have a choice. And anyways, if Bungie said they were going to do certain things and then constantly went back on their promises because they don't want to upset certain people, it would make them look weak.

it's not that we accept it inside. it's just we have no power. so we accept that no matter what we say, nothing will happen. we give up. sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong. normally, it's all opinion. sometimes, we have logic to back us. but in the end, we have no say, and so we give up.

I don't see why there has to be all this pissing and moaning over the decisions they make. True, to some it sucks that new maps cost money to download at first, but they should know that's how this economy works. People have to pay money for things that cost money to make. Suck it up.

For a company that makes such great games, the community sure does like to hate on them and say that they suck for "removing ranks from a certain playlist or removing it altogether."

I mean get real. Welcome to Earth, 3rd rock from the Sun, where everything is not handed to you on a silver platter or done especially for you.

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

Quite. At this exact moment, there is one poor soul who's dedicated his freetime to play Big Team Battle as much as possible. Now that's it's being removed, he's become one of those guys who stand in crowded streets with a "The end is near!" sign.

Now, any sane person to its removal with "Oh, well that sucks. Eh, it's not too big a deal, though." Especially with the 6v6 coming back.

Being one of the people who were originally "upset" (used in place of a more.........'colorful' word) I can agree to this. I made that one thread with a pretty upset original post, then when I eventually stopped caring I changed the post to just.........you know....accept what's going on.

Though I'm still a bit upset they're doing this, I'm over it. The majority of the other BTB diehards are over it too. It's probably true that eventually we'll all accpet the decisions being made, but that doesn't mean we're happy they made it. Even the people that didn't play BTB knew that this is a really bad mistake (and a really poor decision on the Match Making playlist.)

Go to a mirror and ask yourself.

Anyway, of course eventually they're going to stop complaining. I'm over the fact that Bungie decided to make Halo 3 instead of buying back the rights to Myth and making a Myth IV, or a Marathon 4. I don't complain about it all the time, though. That's because I have better things to do with my time than -blam!- about something that doesn't matter all that much.

People are, by and large, afraid of change.
When we do not understand the change, we get confused.
Confusion + fear = anger/hatred.

I welcome change. Spices things up.

Everyone can except everything in time. In regards to BTB; its not like we have a choice except playing customs, but big parties are hard to do. Although to be honest I will still try to get loads of people together for some "proper" BTB. On a sidenote, would you have said that because BTB will no longer be 8v8, and it will now be 6v6, would that not make it "medium team battle?"

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Except for cockroaches, humans are the most adaptable creatures on planet Earth. Although we might complain at first, we eventually get used to pretty much anything.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

The communal outcry you speak of is actually a very vocal minority.

For example, the decision on playlist updates were backed up by matchmaking statistics. When they took away 1v1 the site blew up and looked like every Halo player on Earth was pissed off. The actual matchmaking statistic said it was played less then 1% of the time.

I work for the Department of Defense.

While i haven't complained about it. I pretty much decided to stop playing halo altogether.

I'm going to give "big team training" a chance. But I doubt i will enjoy it.

Stupid players on XBL have ruined the best game ever to me. Bungie couldn't care less about halo 2 IMO. There BUSY. And i understand that. But ultimately removing carnage and Action sack have severely hurt my trust in them. The games population is slowly diminishing, and what do they do? "remove play lists" to "home in" the players.

Well, its caused me to take a long break from halo. Because there are no fun game types left. Unless you get lucky and have a game of swords or shotguns in training, or rockets in BTB. But those are one in a hundred, and usually dedicated by a trash-talker with huge host.

On topic: Not I. I wont ever accept the permanent removal of carnage or action sack. Because i have yet been told why, and with good reason for as to why they wont or, didn't return.

Bungie may make decisions that isn't the most popular but they do what they feel in needed to be done. If people are so enamored with this game that they can't accept some of those decisions, then they should really just back off for a while. It is just a game. Its been going strong for 3 to 4 years now the population is dwindling. You can't expect them to keep a playlist that gets like 2% of usage. They simply try to keep the playlist fresh so it'll keep whats left of the community around until Halo 3 comes out. If they make a decision you disagree with, just simply let it go. It isn't like they just totally talked about your mother in the harshest way. Just Deal with it.

I know it doesn't seem like it sometimes, but there is a rhyme and reason to matchmaking updates. With Halo 3 coming and the Halo 2 population growing smaller, the last two updates have been more about condensing the playlists than broadening them.

Like it or not, BTB Skirmish was by far the less of the two played BTB playlists. Unless it was Friday or Saturday night, it took forever to find a BTB Skirmish match.

The updates are not a perfect science, but I know Bungie cares more about getting us into evenly matched games as quick as possible, than it does keeping playlists around for sentimental reasons.

I try to come and voice my own feedback when I can...

...and then realize that I have no rights and try to play nice...I guess.

I'm still pondering Bungie's decision to let Shishka get away. Ninja's are chained to desks, why not employees?

  • 04.26.2007 11:48 AM PDT

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

NO U!

I think TGP's and others have made a good case on it. I may not be happy that Bungie has (Dropped BTB match size to 12 people, not bought back Myth and Oni, refuses to do Oldskool Humpdays, Lessened some of it's fan interaction.) But I can accept that as the present reality, and get on with my life.
