Subject: My Group's Anniversary Went Uncelebrated.

Well, my group, the Lair of the Flood's 1 year anniversary was today, and if you ask me I am very disappointed that the groups aren't up yet. I am desperate to know because it has been WAY too long since the groups went offline. I would appreciate it greatly if anyone could give me a heads-up if groups are still available or not or if they're still being worked on. I'd really like to know. Thanks.

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

Did u need the group to celebrate? If you are so hung up on it then celebrate, I'm sure you can PM some of your members and do it over MSN or AIM.

And yet, people still refuse to use the search feature, or ever get off their ass's and look for the answer themselves, which is easy

I never said anything about preferring one over the other. I was referring to his comment, "or some group that nobody uses." The poster obviously never really got into the group thing.

Now, as for the first point. Of all the threads to complain about, you chose a bad one. The original poster was trying to start a dialogue concerning groups, and how he missed the anniversary of his particular group. He was exercising his right to free speech (opinions and that). Try to put forward something constructive; something of value. Don't come in here telling people to use the Search Feature because you don't like having the front page of The Septagon cluttered.

I like how you defend someone who simply cant look things up himself. Having the Septagon cluttered is generally a bad thing... I'm not sure if its ever a "good" thing. What i said was to the point. Nothing more. If users would start using the tools Bungie works hard to create, it would make it a lot easier on the ninja's. But no, many refuse to read he rules, read the stickies and there are only a handful of those who A. look a few pages back to see if their topic or question is already stated and B. check the search feature. I'm a fan of free speech, but the US constitution and all that, hardly apply to the rules on Bungie.

If more people tried a bit harder, and didn't feel the need to take every single personal issue and question to the public via thread, bungie.net would be a better place. Its important for people to realize that when you ask a question, especially a very very old and abused one, that most users will flame the OP.

When a child touched fire for the first time. It hurts. It is pain, and it does not forgive. It doesn't go.. "Oh yeah, sorry about that mate, I'll try to avoid you next time"

Theres only two ways of learning.reading the rules. Or breaking them.

In........................................................Out .

Seriously guys, stop going off topic and talk about what this thread was made for.

Anyway, we've been waiting way too long for the groups, they said "oh, it's only going to be gone for a few weeks", and now look, two months later, and no groups. Last time I checked, they said they were undecided on something, seriously, it shouldn't take this long to decide on something...

Its been said time and time again that freedom of speech doesnt exist here.

On Topic: Knowing that the groups were going to go offline (with more than a month of advance notice) for an unspecified amount of time, most of my groups (the decent ones anyway) set up temporary forums at proboards or phbbp or whatever. In those forums, we celebrated our two year anniversary.

To be honest, getting upset at anyone other than your group members isnt justified. Everyone had more than enough advance warning as well as knowledge that there was no set date for the return of groups. That leaves a finger pointing directly at the members of his/your group(s). Dont come here and be pissy because your groups lacked the foresight to find a temporary home.

Did you even read the OP's post? Before deciding to try to act like what I said was without reason? He didn't ask anything about HIS group. His only question was that he wanted to know when the groups will be back, answer?

Unknown. Its always been unknown. And, like most of the rest of us who actually know at least a tiny bit of whats going on in bungie, its general know;edge that groups, are their least of concerns. They are busy with some game... Some people say its going to be huge or something. Since your rather adept in "searching" perhaps you wont mind searching for a game called "halo 3".

I also in now way prohibited him from posting. I couldn't care less about his topic, its fine by me (not that my opinion should ever matter). He has all the right to be mad cause he couldn't access his group for its 1st anniversary. But it was when he asked a very old and incredibly "hot" question, that I felt the need to make a post like I did.

Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.

I don't expect to see groups until the end or somewhere near the end of the Beta. We won't be able to escape the flock of idiots that will come here to piss and moan about every little thing in that god forsaken beta.

The beta is the shiny new puppy that everyone wants to pet, while our groups are the loyal old mut that nobody is remembering to feed. Curse you Achronos! Feed my dog!

Feed Jake. He's been a good dog.

Groups will be back whenever they're ready, and yeah, using the search feature will help when it comes to finding out when groups will be back. Nobody knows. I remember before the search feature everyone whined that we didn't have one; now, the people whining don't even use it (I'm not saying you whined about it, OP, I'm just going off on a tangent, sorry).

First off, what the hell does being new to this site have to do with anything?

Did you even read the OP's thread title? Just because the only thing he actually asked was how long until they come back, doesn't mean that's the only thing to be talked about. He didn't ask anything about his group, but the thread is about his group.

And you're wrong in assuming that the production of Halo 3 is somehow hindering their progress with the groups. Achronos (you know, the webmaster) is the one that's working on the groups. Achronos is not involved in the production of Halo 3.

Thats good and all, but you can't blame Bungie because people in your group dont participate. Online groups are wierd. You'll see someone every day for a year, and then POOF, they're gone.

My thread wasnt directed at anyone in particular. Just general rant.

Achronos has stated a few times that the Beta is considerably higher on the Bungie "To-Do" list than the groups are, so Halo 3 does have something to do with the groups taking so damn long. I'm not exactly sure why that is, but you can look around and find more than one place where he has said it.

*Hands Snap Dragon an organ* Thanks for supporting me. [/not sarcasm]

Actually, "DarkM0d", I did search for both my group and the answer to my questions but came up with nothing. And this is a thread, not a warzone. Calm down or take it out on your Xbox or something.

I was in Mexico when the groups went offline so I missed a lot, and you can't blame me for that. 2 months is a long time, isn't it? Shouldn't Bungie care more about their public?

Also how could I have access to every single member in my group? First off I don't think I'd spend as much time as to write every single one of them down. Second of all the groups are down, which means I can't find my members section. It's sad; really.

Lastly: People, calm down.

(What I also find cool is how people are interpreting my words just like any product of Bungie! I feel special!)

The thread was about the group. The Title said so. His post said so. The guy was right. Yes, he asked about groups. but that doesn't mean it was the topic.

Back to the topic, Happy Anniversary! 1 year groups that I knew used to be very active for a while. New ones tended to focus a bit on fanfics and Live. Very fun. anyway, I'll take it that yours was great. I miss mines, but shortly before the site update, my groups completely fell apart. So I'll start from scratch, rebuilding a group of Live players, fanfic writers, and Bungie fans from this site. I wish I could remember my groups' anniverseries!
