I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Operating System: Vista Home Premium
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Memory: 512 MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405
Hard Drive: 71.2 GB

I know I need to get more RAM, and thats a fact.

Well you also need more ram and your CPU is kind of weak.

Well, of course it would run. My question is would it run smoothly with about what average frame rates?

Meh, maybe 40 fps. Not quite sure how many fps.

Okay, so it's obvious to me that my current video card (NVIDIA GeForce 6100)is crap, so heres my current subscores and Basescore for my PC.

Proccesor: 4.2
RAM: 4.3
Graphics: 2.3
Gaming Graphics: 2.3
Primary Hard Disk: 5.4

Base Score: 2.3

Now Halo 2 requires atleast a Basescore of 3.0, so I am almost there.

So assuming I atleast get a NVIDIA GeForce 7900, should Halo 2 work properly without any problems?

Halo 3 isn't even on PC and if it was it would require a base score of about 10+, thats to say if its ported by Hired Gun. Halo 2's recommended score should be 3, but since it was a rather crappy port (not saying the game is crap on PC or anything), you need a more powerful system to be able to play it good.

If your referring to Halo 2 which I believe you are, an 7900 will run Halo 2 perfectly fine at max setting at around 1280-1024. You "may" have to lower the graphics if you increase the resolution.

Oh, it'll probably run it. *snickers*

That being said, I wouldn't even try. It will be a painful experience.

Actually, the 7900 line will not run Halo 2 at max settings very well. The 7900 GTX might, but the GT, and certainly the GS won't. I have a 7900 GS and I have to play it on 1024 x 768 on high with no AA and no AF, and it still doesn't run incredibly smoothly.

M6D Pistol - $190
BR55 Battle Rifle - $320
Halcyon-Class Cruiser - $198,783,189,420.92
Taking out an entire Covenant Armada all by your lonesome - Priceless
There are some things marines can't do.
For everything else, there's Master Chief.

Does anyone know why although the system diagnostics on the games for windows website says I'm able to run Halo 2 Vista I'm getting errors saying I don't have enough system resources to run the game?

Ok, dont have the graphics processing capabilities, probably because im on a laptop.. Is It possible to scale things in the game back to run it? Or possibly upgrade the graphics processor in my laptop?

I love music, and I want to learn all of the Halo Trilogy music. Please! Give me the sheet music!

I was wondering if Halo 2 Vista would run on max settings without lag with these specs:
(Note: I borrowed the game from my friend (he uninstalled, gave me the cd key and cd and made me uninstall when I was done) and played it on max settings with mostly the same settings, but with 1.25 gigs of RAM...I experienced major lag during any nade or rocket explosions that were near me. I alo lagged when there several AI's near me.)

Pentium 4 2.8Ghz with HyperThreading
EVGA e-GeForce 7950 GT KO 512mb
4 Gigs of RAM
Vista Business
on an EVGA nForce 680i SLI motherboard.

Thanks to anyone who answers.

Subject: My experience with 2 PCs

The minimum requirements are bull.

I'll tell you what doesn't work
P4 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB
1G DDR PC3200
ATI X850 XT (256MB)
This is higher than the minimum, and it runs Vista fine. H2V however is unplayable at 800x600 with all settings on low (talking 5 fps unplayable). In campaign mode, I gave up on easy before I even got to the hangars on Cairo station.

My other PC
Pentium D 3GHz
2G DDR2 PC2 6400
Geforce 8600 GTS (256MB)
This runs the game *acceptable* on 1280x1024 with all settings maxed out. There are occasional drops in framerates, (although never really below 30), but I prefer playing on 1024x768 which gives me a steady high framerate.

After playing the game I consider this the bare minimum you need for an acceptable experience.
A core2 duo CPU and a Geforce 8800 with 320MB or more is recommended, certainly if you want to experience the upgraded graphics on high resolutions.

Subject: The Official Halo 2 Vista "Will it Run?" Thread! *Ultra-U...

I'm getting a new laptop, for college, and was wondering how well it would run Halo 2 Vista because I don't really know much about how laptops compare to PCs performance-wise. It's a Dell inspiron 1520 with some upgrades and it scored 2,906 3DMarks on 3DMark06 and 5,316 3DMarks on 3DMark05 if that helps.

Pic of the system specs: http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/7785/dellea4.jpg

P.S. I don't care about turning the settings down as long as it's playable at a decent framerate.

P.P.S. The above test link wont work because I'm not using the computer ATM, I haven't even bought it yet.

Yeah, I find that kind of odd, it says my video card failed, yet it is an NVIDIA GeForce 8600, it also says my CPU failed yet it is a 3500+ AMD Athlon 64.

The only problem I ahve is my PC locks up on me when I am playing the game in Full screen mode due to the fact I only have 1535 MB of RAM.

Besides that there is my current score.

Proccesor: 4.2

Memory (RAM): 4.4

Graphics: 5.9

Gaming Graphics: 5.6

Primary hard Disk: 5.4

Base Score:4.2

Required Score for Halo 2: 3.0

heh is it just me or is this thread kinda pointless, if you know enough about your computer to post your specs, you should be smart enough to check the minimum reqs for h2v. maybe im biased against people who settle for store-bought, underpowered (and overpriced) comps, i guess you might not know exactly what you've got to work with. still if you've ever played a pc game you know that if you have the bare minimum specs your qualitys going to suffer, but you can still play. ish

*so* funny to see people ask if their top-end custom rig can handle this game. really hilarious ill do it too! what do you think?

AMD Athlon X2 5200+
ASUS M2N4-SLI
GeForce 8800 GTS 320 Mb
4 Gb DDR2 800Mhz
2x 160 Gb WD Raptor
Windows Vista Ultimate

omg i dont know if i can run h2v cause i only spent $1100 and built my comp especially for crysis! help

k im not even really annoyed anymore im just bored

"i don't mean to go on a rant here, but..."
"...-the hell does rant mean?"

It's weird. According to the ATI website, the Radeon Xpress 200m is essentially a Radeon x300 card, and it's integrated, and yet I can play Halo 2 Vista with everything turned down with 10-20 FPS. Double you tee eff?

^^^
Integrated cards "borrow" RAM from the system. If you have 1024 MB of Ram and the integrated chip uses 256 MB RAM, the system has only 768 MB of RAM left to run Vista, H2V, and all other programs!!!! In short integrated cards SUCK!!!!!111!!!one!!!0ne1!!!!
