ya i would definately upgrade that gfx card. Your processor is sitting right at the minimum requirement right now for H2V, remember you will also have Vista running in the background (ugh!!) I would recommend a little more ram too.

I don't think agp can get any better than this...go here .

actually you can buy an AGP x1950 XT but it's a waste of money as his proccessor has no where near the amount of power to let these high end cards shine. Don't waste your money and just get a 7600 GS or the AMDTi equivalent.

Ok, While I know my current rig won't run H2V especially since the Vidcard's on it's last legs. I've been researching some nice components for an upgrade.

Motherboard: EVGA 122-M2-NF59-TR Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard <--- Heard good things about EVGA, are they true?
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor <---I'm an AMD guy, so don't bother telling me Intel is better, I don't care, unless you can give me a good enough reason.
GPU: connect3D 3061 Radeon X1950 CrossFire Edition 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express x16 Video Card <---Again, I'm an ATI guy, so unless you have a good reason, I don't want to hear how Nvidia is better blah blah blah. I've heard Crossfire allows you to double your GPU power by buying a second card, so that's what I've been thinking about until the New DX10's come down in price a smidgeon.
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory <---Heard really good things about Corsair.

What I need some advice on is what kind of powersupply I should get with that. Since I'm fairly certain the one I have isn't up to snuff.

I found a CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W Power Supply, on newegg and it looks pretty nice. But I'm open to suggestions on another brand/wattage/whatever. Since I haven't paid much attention to PSU's over the years.

First off, if you even mention that your computer has agp instead of PCI-e then you definitely need an upgrade. By upgrade i mean new pc. Building a new pc isn't a bad idea either. I would do it myself, but im getting a laptop next. I need to be mobile :)

Antec anything is pretty good. I have an antec power supply and two antec fans. All in awesome working condition ever since i bought them three years ago.

ok i have an idea. instead of listing your specs and having other people tell you if it runs... go to this website

http://www.yougamers.com/gameometer/10160/ its the Halo 2 Vista Game-O-Meter. currently it only has the Minimum Requirements listed in Halo 2 Vista but this will tell you if your PC can run Halo 2 Vista period...

Thanks Sparts, that was really informative. I'll go for an X1950xt then, and I'll look into an intel board and CPU, hopefully AMD will gets it's act together and come out with something that will roxxorz my soxxorz. I won't be upgrateing right away, since I've only just started saving.

Ok smarty panteses, which is the better buy:

LAPTOP #1: IBM Thinkpad T61 - $1395
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM (2 x 1 DIMM)
Hard Drive: 120 GB (5400 RPM)
Optical Drive: DVD/RW Dual Layer
Graphics: 128 MB NVIDIA NVS
Screen: 14.1 in. WXGA (1280x800)
Weight: 4.7 lb.
Battery: 6 cell (~5.5 hrs. new)
Inegrated LCD Camera

or

LAPTOP #2: IBM Thinkpad T60p - $1599
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM (2 x 1 DIMM)
Hard Drive: 160 GB (5400 RPM)
Optical Drive: DVD/RW Dual Layer
Graphics: 256 MB ATI Fire GL 5250
Screen: 15.4 in. WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
Weight: 6 lb.
Battery: 6 cell (~5.5 hrs. new)

Are the upgrades in the bulkier, higher priced 2nd computer really worth the higher price?

Much Appreciated... Cheers.

EDIT: Please no quote waterfalls... they are rather annoying :S

Oh, and to appease those thread national-socialists: will these run h2v (of course :P)

What level of detail and resolution can I expect to get from:

CPU: ..................AMD AM2 5000+ @ 2.89GHz (stock Heat/Sink and fan)
M/B: ....................Asus M2N32-SLI-Deluxe Wireless Edition
RAM: ..................2x1GB DDR2 667
GPU: ..................Asus Geforce EN7600GT 540/700 @ 630/750 with latest drivers
PSU: ..................Usicase 500W silent power
HDD: .................250GB
DVD: ................. Sony DVD/CD Writer/Reader
Sound: ..............SoundMax HD Audio............ with latest drivers
Screen:..............Samsung SyncMaster 753s CRT 1280x1024 @ 60Hz
Speakers:.........Sony Headphones

I usually have AF set to 8x to 16x, and don't usually have AA turned on as jagged lines don't really bother me. I'm hoping to get a resolution of at-least 1024x768 to 1280x1024 with at-least medium detail settings with at-least a frame-rate of 30 or more (45 or above recommended). Can you tell me if I will be able to achieve this. Or if possible will I be able to achieve higher results. If so can you tell me what I will be able to play the game at???

You don't know whether you can play it or not, back a few months ago, my computers specs where under the minimal on a lot of games like oblivion yet i still managed to play them, probably not well, but i managed to break the 30FPS barrier on the lowest settings.

I mean, with my current rig, i only have 512MB of RAM and yet i still play Oblivion at medium details scoring anywhere from 30FPS to 80 FPS depending on the environment.

Yes, it should run fine. And a little tip for next time, your monitor has nothing to do with how well a game will run. Unless you take into account the type and the refresh rate.
