Alrightly, so I bought the game, and thus an update :). The game does run on a X1300PRO, however I have resolution and details at the lowest settings. Now is it playable? Well, I just finished Cairo, and I can say it is :). Had no crashes either. I do have a bit of sluggishness at times, but nothing major from preventing me to play the game itself. For the first hour I did have to tweak it a bit to find the right settings, and will probably tweak it some more. Nonetheless, I do plan to purchase a new video card...mostly likely the Geforce 7900 GS (due to my power supply of 375W, and thanks got milk12 for pointing me in that direction, also a big thanks to halochimp :)) or perhaps a 7950 GTOC if I can swing it. The ATI X1900Pro however is too much of a power hog at 450 W, same with the X1650 model. Thus, in summary, if you do have an X1300Pro, do not expect anything shocking or dazzling. All I will say is that I am a patient fello, and I can run with this card for a while. Otherwise, I recommend an upgrade. I have to say that after all this, I do like Nvidia's line a bit better than ATi's. They seem to be a bit less power consuming, and more bang for the buck after extensive research.
Nonetheless, i was able to play on multiplayer as well. Plus the installation was a breeze, no problems whatsover, same with Live (even though they make the steps complicated sometimes ;P).
However, was what disappointing was not being able to map my gamepad controller the way i wanted to (which was so easy to do in Halo PC). Also, I would really like to turn vsync off if I could (again no option to). Also, Halo 2 PC does have a very eery Halo 2 Xbox feel to it, a bit irritating a least for me being a pure PC gamer.
Furthermore, not being able to see all the stats during a Team Slayer or CTF game is a bit annoying.
Despite that, got all past that and actually had a good time on live and the campaign so far. I am sure once I procure a better video card it will even be more so :). Cheers, and thanks again for the advice.
EDIT: Oh yeah, this may also help some folk in ways looking to lower RAM for vista so h2v and vista do not have to share ram...turn off windows sidebar, google desktop, everything in the toolbar, except for perhaps your antivirus or windows defender. Takes off at least 200 MB ram, perhaps even 300 MB. Lastly, I did not overclock the card either.
Well there you go! I guess those lower end cards don't have too much trouble playing games such as H2V! Thanks for the review. Now we can tell what range of cards we should be within.
