Considering it's a CRT monitor, probably neither. You can probably run it at 1900 x 1200 (or was it 1920 x 1200?) with a super low framerate. That's the highest resolution the game supports.

run it at 1600x1200 as the highest your monitor supports that will still keep the aspect ratio correct unless of course you have a widescreen CRT monitor for which I know there is only one model.

Im getting halo 2 for my laptop tomorrow and just a bit worried if it will run ok:

Processor: Intel Core Duo CPU T2250 @ 1.73 GHz (x2)
RAM: 2 GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 128 MB Dedicated (Total Availiable 384 MB TurboCache)

I would like it to run at 1024x768 on Medium (Low if need be) settings.

Also, is it safe to use the latest GeForce 7 Series Vista Drivers (158.24) for my Go card? Would I see better performance? Or stick with the current Go driver I have?

My pc has a Windows Experience Index of 4.1

This is because...

Processor--------4.1
Memory(RAM)----5.2
Graphics----------5.9
Gaming Gfx-------5.5
Primary HDD-----5.4

It judges it by the lowest...which is really stupid because you could have a laptop meant for business, have no need for gaming yet have an awesome Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHZ processor, 4GBs ram, 120GB HDD, etc. However, if you don't have a real graphics chip and it's just integrated your Gaming Graphics will be like 1.0 or 1.2. Therefore the super awesome laptop has no been dubbed garbage thanks to vista :)

Will it run?

It is people like you that make people like me need medication.

Well. I must say I am floored but I can run it.

So some background. I have a 2.8 GHZ Pentium 4. I have a bit over a gig of ram. This POS Dell has only PCI slots. So I have an Nvidia Geforce 6200 PCI card.

Amazingly it runs decent on the lowest of the low. It seems to run smoothest fullscreen. The only time it really gets laggy is when the AA decides to turn itself back on. Other then that it runs pretty smooth at about 30 FPS.

So I am a happy camper. I don't care how bad it looks I can play the Vista version of Halo 2.

I think this is the first absolute "no" in this thread. You need 512 MB RAM to even run Vista. While your processor and video card would probably run it, it wouldn't be worth it, because you'd get probably 5 FPS on lowest settings.

Well I plan on upgrading soon anyways but I'm just wondering if I should fork out the cash for H2V now or wait until my PC is better.

Current PC

Windows Vista Ultimate x86 + Windows XP Professional dual boot configuration
Intel Celeron D 2.4Ghz
1gb DDR RAM (mhz unknown to me)
400w Power Supply
256mb nVidia GeForce 7600GS
16x dual layer DVD ROM drive
Seagate 400gb 16mb cache 7200 rpm Hard Drive
2x 17" CRT monitors

Future PC

Windows Vista Ultimate x86 + Windows XP Professional dual boot configuration
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz
2Gb DDR2 RAM 800mhz
500-700w Power Supply (undecided)
512mb nVidia GeForce 7900GS
16x dual layer DVD ROM drive
Seagate 400gb 16mb cache 7200 rpm Hard Drive
2x 17" CRT monitors

So what do I do first?

One tiny correction folks from my review earlier, you can actually review the stats from a multiplayer game, in fact it is comprehensive. You have to scroll left/right; you can see your kills, deaths, suicides, medals, flags stolen, flags scored, average life span, best killing spree, flags saved, you name it :).

Other than that though, I am fairly disappointed with halo 2 multiplayer. It is very hard to find a quality gametype. So far, in 16 to 17 games I have joined, I have only found one, and that lasted only a few minutes lol. Pretty much you either melee, or use the sword to get your kills as everything is in close quarters. Can not even see an enemy till he is right beside you lol. I must say this gives me a new appreciation for halo 1 multiplayer, requires a ton more skill, and less of pushing buttons quickly to get your kills.

I finished the campaign on normal, now I am going on heroic. The campaign I must say is very solid, nice and challenging. It has definitely exceeded my expectations.

On the other hand, due to the multiplayer (again still a low player count, not surprising, that may change however tomorrow when the game is released in Euorpe), I would recommend folks not to hurry to buy this game. Wait till the price drops, the campaign may be worth it, but it can wait :). Additionally, for folks who want to upgrade their cpus to play halo 2, I would recommend against it as well. At least not any major upgrading, if you plan to play other games in the foreseeable future, then by all means. But if it is just for Halo 2, I really do not think it is worth it to be honest.

ok, i solved my problem, it turns out that computers using ANY video card produced by Intel....will stop the game from running PERIOD, it could have 2gb of video memory and it won't run just because it's Intels video card....lucky me being my laptop is the only computer running Vista in my ENTIRE house....so now the game disc is useless to me and the Gamestop i bought it from doesn't allow returns on PC games.....freaking joy...

Wait, haven't people been running this game with the Intel GMA 950s? Anyway, I do sympathize with you, Wall Ninja, but the minimum requirements do say you must have at least an NVIDIA 6 series, a Raedon x700, or higher.

Tons of people still asking if integrated video cards/chips will be able to play the game. I can see the game running on low everything on the extremely new integrated video, but on older integrated video I can not see it running. You really do need a good graphics card to run this game. Do not think that an nVidia 5200 is going to get the job done, they have integrated chips that are better then that. On my dad's new dell it came with an integrated nVidia chipset. It was an nVidia 6150 LE. He could just run Age of Empires 3, no way he could run H2V, Half-Life 2, etc on medium or high anything. I gave him my old e-Geforce 6600 GT and he was able to play game so much better, keep in mind that to play H2V I could on play on Medium everything. I now have an e-Geforce 8600GT and can play it on High everything. Im about to finish building a computer, its going to have dual e-Geforce 8600GT cards, that will be kickass. I could never see buying running a computer with dual 8800 Ultra cards, there are no games out there that will be using the cards to their fullest for a very long time. My friend has dual 7900 and he can run all of the latest games at high everything. So if your going to be doing Sli I wouldn't recommend getting two $700 gfx cards. It's going to be a waste of money...

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Crysis won't be able to get maxed out even by dual 8800 GTX Ultra's.

nope, everyone with an Intel GMA 950/945/etc... have been whining to Intel about WDDM drivers, allegedly required to run Vista Aero and Halo 2.....apparently i have the drivers in question, cause i'm running the Aero theme quite nicely.....and the guy said that people specifically using Intel video cards cannot run the game, the processors are fine, while the cards cause it to eff up, along with some reports of a BSOD using the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 card. although the minimum requirements say that i've been able to run alot of things with a lower card, such as FEAR and the Half-Life 2 demo and various other games [tho not at max visual quality ofcourse]

i did get to play it on my friends computer with a GeForce 5600....lagged to hell on the main menu tho [he has the video card nothing else, and i have all the power and no video card......]

so now i'm the one who has to mooch off my friends for some Halo 2 action [my XBOX disc is destroyed thanks to a little accident]

Here

New information from crytek says that a c2d and an 8800 series card should run the game on "Ultra high".

I've been wanting to get a new GFX card for some time now. I got my 6600 like 1 1/2 years ago. It was awesome then, now it can't play any of the new games. I just want to be able to play Halo 2 Vista and be able to go into private chats and tease my friends about how i can get achievements for halo 2 and they can't :p That and the two new maps, map maker, its on a pc therefore better graphics, easier to record halo 2 now :P

WIth my GFX card will it play better then Halo 2 on the Xbox/360?
absoulytly.. i have a 7300 evga 512mb 455mhx video card PCI-e 1.5 gigs of ram and 2.21 ghz amd... runs perfect on highestr settings..
