I'm not aware of any upgrades for laptops. You might be able to call Sony and see if they could upgrade it for you, but I've never heard of anyone doing that, and I wouldn't get my hopes up.

My first pc has a XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX Edition / 256MB GDDR3 will it run on at least medium setting's please describe it to me in detail. My second pc has a XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX / 256MB DDR3 also please tell me how well it will run halo to vista. Thanks a lot I really need to know this ASAP. Thanks.

Laptops currently cannot be upgrade graphics card wise, I know that for a fact. I don't think they can be upgraded anything except for like adding RAM or replacing the HDD. I could be wrong though, im not as all-knowing with laptops. I don't think laptops have a standard motherboard configuration, so that would have to be worked out by tons of companies over the next few years if they were to try to make parts such as the graphics in a laptop removable.

I have the 8600 GT right now. It is an amazing card, I would go with the 8600 GT, unless the other computer has all better specs...in which case I would switch graphics cards :p

My current specs are...

Pentium 4 2.8ghz
2 Gigs ddr2 533mhz
e-Geforce 8600 GT
250GB Sata HDD
DVD +/- re-writable drive.

With those specs I can run Halo 2 Vista with almost high everything, I run it on 1024X768 resolution.

Now it's time for you guys to help me!!!!

Im trying to build a gaming computer. I want to get it done by the end of July. I already have a DVD drive, 200GB HDD, e-Geforce 8600 GT. These are the items I need and their current prices...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.5Ghz - $130 on newegg.com
GIGABYTE Sli-ready Motherboard - $80 on newegg.com
10 - Bay Matrix ATX Window Case - $32.50 on geeks.com

I don't know what type of powersupply I will need for running the above as well as...

200GB Sata HDD
DVD Drive
2x EVGA e-Geforce 8600 GT

If any of you find the above cheaper please let me know!! Also, someone let me know about the power supply issue. Im sure there are some people on this forums doing SLi, let me know what your configuration is power supply-wise and case-wise.

Someone let me know about ram too. The motherboard I listed I want to stick with; it uses DDR2 800 ram.

Of course I will be looking into all of this as well, but your input will definitely help!

Thanks Guys!

I don't know what the hell is wrong with some peeps PCs. I have had the game for over a week(thanks to circuit city) and I play it maxed out at 1920x1200 resolution. Runs flawless in game and cut scenes. I have a Pentium D 3.4ghz, ATI xtx1900 512mb, 4 gigs of ddr2, and a 24 inch Dell monitor. I have the latest drivers for everything. I didn't even have to dis-able vsync. The only problem I have is trying to figure out if I like to play with the k/m or xbox360 controller. I can switch between the two instantly. I seem to own more with the controller. Maybe cause I'm so used to playing halo 2 on the xbox.

That is simply not true. Go look up axiom and MXM to start off with. Many laptops have upgradable GPU slots, although they tend to be more narrow in what you can put in them.

Forget AMD at this point unless you plan on waiting for phenom. If you plan on building by the end of july I doubt you will be getting anything phenom so forget AMD. By the end of july dual core will be superseeded totally by quad core except for the extremely low budget chips. Get the core 2 quad q6600 when it drops in price july 22nd. Anything based on the 650i chipset will be fine for SLI although SLIing midrange cards has always been a waste.

Just get any good Antec 550+ watt PSU as it is a great brand for the price. Getting anything cheaper you risk ending up with garbage.

As I said above any Antec 550+ watt PSU should be fine as 8600 GTs dont draw very many amps.
I have SLI 6800 GTs and I have an OCZ 520 watt SLI PSU in a Coolermaster Wavemaster, but the 8600 GTs arent big cards so any case should work as they shouldn't obstruct any HDD.

Just get cheap DDR2-800 Ram from any decent brand:

OCZ
Corsair
Mushkin
G.Skill
Crucial
Kingston
Just look at the reviews on newegg.

You dont need any fancy ram as the money is better spent on a better GPU or CPU as they would affect performance a bit more

Thanks Staticx576, im definitely going to look into that stuff. I went on Slickdeals and they had a 2GB DDR2 800 Kit for $50 after $15 rebate. Of course, im not getting the stuff now, but there will be better deals in 2 months. Hopefully cheap quad-cores by the end of the summer!

unfortunately your graphics card is severely lacking so details low and resolution low.

Figured as much, ah well, may as well give it a try :). With resolution and details low, will i still experience any lag or sluggishness of the sort? I rather not dish out too much cash to upgrade, what would be a suitable upgrade Radeon wise to run the game at moderate settings, or at high settings (I am guessing the X1900 series)? Although does not make much sense to buy a new graphic card just to play one game though :).

If you are really into games, and plan on playing other games in the future (and now), an upgrade would be wise. I haven't played H2V yet (getting it tomorrow), but from other people's judgements, I'd say you'll be ok with low resolution and details. Wait for someone who's played it to respond, though.

If you insist on Raedon, this looks pretty good.

If you need something cheaper, you can try this.

Don't forget, though, NVIDIA does exist. This is my top reccommendation.

You can't do anything about it accept get a new computer, unless you have some sort of upgradeable laptop. Yes it's for single player too.

Thanks for the responses fellas, I may get a new video card down the road I suppose. I am wondering how the following cards below would fare for halo2vista, specifically once again the resolution and detail:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E168 14130073
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E168 14130017

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141501 82

Trying my best to learn and what not, but I am relatively new at this. As you can see I am not going for the big splash, just a card that will run h2v at a good rate, at a good setting with no lag. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :).

Try to get a card in or above the 7 series in the nVidia cards. With ATI try to get something above an x700.
