First, a 360 is 300, and it's 400 for a hard drive, or even 470 for an elite. Second of all, I never said I was buying vista just for halo 2. How did I get vista plus h2v=70? The oem is 130, so actually it would be 180 but still. Premium isn't the lowest you can go either. I have a computer that will handle vista or h2v, so I don't need a new pc. Do a little more research next time you say something to criticize a product. Yes Halo 3 is coming out soon, but we don't know if it will actually will be good, we can only assume.
I thought that we were going to stop this debate before it became a "flame-war" but what the hell. Let's get it over with.
You do not have to get the Xbox Elite in order to get backwards compatibility to play Halo 2. Getting the Elite for $470 is about equivalent of me saying that you should get Vista Ultimate which btw costs $500.
Secondly, I was answering to both your comment and the main question. Your comment being your statistical numbers and calculations, and the main question being, "Will you buy VIsta just to play Halo 2 Vista?" My response to you was that your numbers were biased and inaccurate. My response to the main question was that, "I see absolutely no reason to get Vista if you arent getting it for free or with a new computer." In other words, I don't believe anyone whould get Vista just to play H2V, which again, answers the main question, and not only your comments.
I have all of my research, and as a matter of fact, I own and am currently typing this reply, on my computer which is using Windows Vista. I have already stated for over two pages on why I don't believe that Vista is worth paying more than a hundred bucks for.
Also, my mention of Halo 3 was to make the point that the game you would be gettnig is three years old. It's nothing that new, besides the graphics. If you want to play the game, buy an xbox 360, and it would be more cost efficient. To reply to this guy's post, right above me. I believe that the PC is in fact, the absolute least cost efficient gaming system to date. All you would need to do is compare the specs of your computer, to the Xbox 360. The reason why you get a console is because it is in fact more cost efficient and more reliable. If you want to know what I mean by more reliable, ask me in another post, I don't feel like going into Vista's new computer numbering feature and a bunch of other stuff that would take up too much space. My point is that consoles are and have always been more reliable than PCs, and on top of that cheaper.
Let me finally restate my stance. If you want to get Vista for various reasons, I believe that you should. But if you want to get Vista, for the sole purpose of playing H2V, you are an idiot. if you have any questions, comments, or if you want to be like Panchobelt and question the accuracy of my information, then by all means, go ahead.
I know you don't need the elite for backwards compatibility, but I might as well add that in. Obviously, if you did research, you would know that vista doesn't cost 300. There are the oem versions. H2V is also more than just a console port. It's nearly a whole new game. New graphics, live anywhere, and much more. Sure, it's not the only reason to get Vista, but it's not like H2V will be the only game you will ever get for Vista. Crysis its self is nearly enough to convince me to get vista. Vista's capabilities for gaming will far surpass the 360's. Some examples are live anywhere, dx10, ability to have 4 or more gigs of ram(which is less efficient), games that use the power of multi cores. I could name more, but I believe that list supports what I'm saying well enough.
