Wortwortwort! I guess my whole last post could be summed up as:
Information obviously exists. Anything and everything else is subjective interpretation, so it's existence is a matter of opinion.

That's one I'd like to ponder about...

I have a poem! Ahem:

Born with insight and a raised fist
A witness to the slit wrist, that's with
As we move into '92
Still in a room without a view
Ya got to know
Ya got to know
That when I say go, go, go
Amp up and amplify
Defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
Action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Fist in ya face, in the place
And I'll drop the style clearly
Know your enemy...Know your enemy!
Yeah!

Hey yo, and dick with this...uggh!
Word is born
Fight the war, -blam!- the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy!

Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Now action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
Sick of sick of sick of sick of you
Time has come to pay...
Know your enemy!

Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams

"brewing"? *runs away anxiously, in fear of the retort*

But let's stay on topic, this topic shouldn't get tainted any further by non-intellectual babbling (which is my fault, I know)

Wow. It's a poem from perspective of a zealously defiant human, presented in a way much in line with the imagery within it. It's cool how he placed it in a way that emphasises it's mood, stirring up our correspondence here. Good job!

Quiet? Chief? I think we're alone here.

I've got some packaging of stuff to do and someone who needs to help me with that is ready to start. I'll have to leave soon anyway.

Edit: Hey, how did this thread get where it is anyway? I'll try to catch y'all later.

Well Obbi, I'm glad to see this thread hasn't died. In retort to your earlier statement about abstracts, I think you left out one crucial detail: You limited God to human influence. We consider ourselves "higher" beings, yes? We make abstractions to help define the world around us. Would abstractions such as the numerical system exist without their physical counterparts, guidelines to base them in? I think not. The world is real, as we can all attest to, and any philosophy that tries to disprove that is as pompus as it is unreasonable. Like it or not, the physical world is an abstraction, subdivided into countless near-infinite numbers of laws, rules, and systems. Who dialed the gravitational constant? Who engineered the countless physical laws that constitute the greatest to the most minute facets of our universe? True, "higher beings" can form abstracts, but only in mockery of the true Creator. We inherited the ability to form concepts, but not to fulfill them. We lack ex nihilo, the ability to create from nothing. That is what defines the difference of our use of creation, including our own minds, and the creation of the universe itself. Just my thoughts. No one has to agree, but I thought a rebuttal was in order. Thanks again for the great thread Obbi.

I'm baaack!
I wasn't trying to disprove the existence of anything. I was saying that we can't take anything for granted. Don't confuse agnosticism with atheism, please. It's just idle speculation from some stuff on a poetry thread. It doesn't matter whether the reality we know and love is illusory or not, because we can never prove absolutely, beyond all possible doubt that it's not illusory. To do so would require evidence of something beyond. Naturally, any evidence of anything that we ever find could hypothetically be part of the illusion. Think whatever you want about the implications for the meanings of "illusion" and "reality"... I just say everything's hypothetical until proven wrong.

My original contribution was based on the fact that I'm not the same person as you, so I can't ever know you as well as I know myself. Our experiences, memories, and possibly the way we interpret sensory data might be different: we're isolated by the simple fact that we are separate people and can never be one, get it?

Ah. :) Then our writing, though it may sound similar, will be from opposite poles.

I come from the perspective that life has no meaning, because maeaning is superfluous.

Do you have any more writing I could read?

Do you mean that life is meaningless

"No offense, but you're a bunch of [psychos]...<rambles on obsessively>... Talk about a freakin' psycho!"
I don't think he was not playing nice. Unless he's an obsessive lunatic, it seems to me he was obviously making fun of humans- you know, as a humorous free-form poetry thing. Let's not jump to conclusions by assuming he means to be mean!
