well actually a lot of places, i.e. Blockbuster and Hollywood video, if you go to get something and it's not in you'll get it free next time.

They realize that you spent time out of your life to give them money and show you some respect. If you have trouble or are inconvienced with a purchase then by all means the company should make it right. It's called good customer service.

Oh, ok :) I hadn't heard of anything like that before.

I would make them free as a "thank-you" to all of the consumers who have helped Halo become such a kick-ass game and help the Xbox along the way.

If it was Bungie making the maps, maybe. But it's Certain Affinity, and they need all our shinies to make Halo Wars a kick-ass RTS.

Posted by: Spartan9807
[There is a solution: make them free. Both Xbox 360 and Xbox owners have no problems downloading the free map packs.

Well, I'm still having trouble downloading, and I don't think its a money-related problem, it just says that the download failed, and please try again or something.

Certain Affinity is working on Halo Wars? I thought that was Ensemble Studios. News to me if your right. Even so, this isn't Certain Affinity's fault. Bungie is the one distributing the maps.

Some of us are having the Premium Purchases problem even when premium purchases are enabled, so it is a money problem for some of us. Besides, can you download the free map packs? If so, then it proves my point that making them free would solve these problems.

That is somewhat misleading because the context here is a rented medium. These maps are not rented. These are sunk costs in our eyes. If you go into Best Buy for a DVD that is sold out, they will not give you a free DVD when it comes in. If you go into Target for some clothes that are gone, they will not give you free clothes when they are restocked. If you go into a grocery store for some Sockeye Salmon and they are clean out, they will not give you credit for free Salmon when they get it in.

However, if there were to give it to some for free, then they will have to give it to everyone for free, which means excessive refunds.

In all, I think we can all agree that Bungie has handled this situation very poorly.

Either way, people will be complaining. And as I've said before, it won't be the first time anyone has been screwed over.

Whoops, my mistake :) I wasn't saying it was Certain Affinity's fault, anyways. I meant that - well, you said that Bungie 'owed' the maps the community. If anything, really, it's the other way round, because of the way that Bungie has stayed on developing for Halo 2, even right up to the release of the Halo 3 beta ( and possibly further ). I think we owe them something for that. And my original point was that Certain Affinity had made the maps, not Bungie, and Certain Affinity certainly don't 'owe' us anything.

I don't think it does - because this map pack isn't like any of the ones before, as in it's on two consoles. I don't think you can compare it to the previous map packs, because it's been done differently, which is where the problems are coming from, not the payment system, as far as I can tell.

I'm sorry if this has already been said.

For everybody complaining about the update and saying that most people have the maps already, what do you think would happen if the update was released already? You would have seen all the people that don't have the maps on the forums screaming, " WHY DID THEY UPDATE WHEN WE CAN'T EVEN GET THE MAPS?! NOW WE CAN'T EVEN PLAY MATCHMAKING!" Then you will see how many people actually didn't have the maps. By that time you'll also be complaining and asking, " Why is nobody on matchmaking?" Think before you say anything; take your time when your typing. I've had the maps since day one on both of my accounts-- one on the 360 and one for the xbox 1. I was one of the lucky few, but many weren't. Try to slip yourself in somebody elses shoes first, then say whatever you have to say. I do hope, however, that all the people saying they can't download it have actually tryed calling microsoft already. Then you can have the right to complain.

I think we gave them plenty. We've undoubtedly helped them in their plans for "world domination". Halo and Halo 2 sold millions of copies, and were the kind of games the Xbox needed to survive. Just look at the Halo community, it's spawned into a way of life. LAN Parties, map making in Custom Edition, modding (off of LIVE of course), fooling around. This forum is like a cattle ranch. New threads and posts are popping up like crazy. Bungie has become so popular because of, not just the Halo franchise, but of their consumers continuing to support them. We're helping to keep that game alive as well you know. It would be a nice gesture to give their consumers a little something as reimbursement. Unfortunately, big companies would rather have your money than think like that.

Nevertheless, this seems like the only plausible solution at this time. How long will we wait until this problem is sorted out in the manner they want it to be? At this rate, the first Halo 3 map packs will be on the Marketplace before they get this one working properly.

I never give 'em Hell. I just tell the truth and they think it's Hell.

"your misplaced belief in made up release dates that weren't given by us"

Are you kidding?

Has Bungie suddenly subcontracted the Weekly Update?

Was I dreaming when I read 4/24 for matchmaking on the new maps?

Don't insult my intelligence or yours by trying to suggest it wasn't Bungie, thus you guys, who put that date out to us.

I also have no problem paying for content. I've paid for every map I have access to. As I said before, I'd pay $4 for a Sidewinder redux... but what I don't like paying for is something that's worthless because a minority portion of the population can't access it.

Certainly it's unfortunate that people who were paying for the maps weren't able to use them in Custom Games for the last 2 weeks. However, many of us have paid for them, did get them, and are also being punished?

Functionality of the game was supposed to be limited by now to those who have these new maps. Whether that limitation stems from people being cheap, or a problem with compatibility or whatnot, it shouldn't punish the rest of us.

I'm not saying we deserve anything ahead of anyone. I'm saying that it's ridiculous to punish in perpetuity an entire populace because of a glitch for a minority. It's not like those that have been precluded up to now can't play customs or unranked games to familiarize themselves with the maps. So another week only pisses the rest of us off, and as they trickle in they're still faced with people that are already familiar with the maps in a Custom setting... So please tell me the point of all of this other than some misplaced notion of fairness to those with a glitch.

If some can't play nobody can? You're going to take your ball and go home... nice.

Today.. Tomorrow.. Next month..?

You guys have being obscure down to a science.... I know it's only four bucks.. that's not the issue.. How about you accelerate a refund of my cash and then I'll give it back to you when you let us know what's up.. or when the rumor in your forums is that the maps are finally in matchmaking..

Or... how about you guys "accelerate" simple daily updates on your web site.. saying.. "Still not in matchmaking... try again tomorrow"!

I'm with you. I want an "accelerated" refund until bungie can get their crap together. and what the hell does accelerate mean to them? cus so far ive seen anything but that.

Do you have proof that only a "minority portion of the population can't access it"? Unless you have some good numbers that you can give proof to, I will have to disagree with your opinion that the update should be out already.

I understand your frustration even though I've had the maps since day one, but I think we're lucky to even get new maps for Halo 2. Of course Certain Affinity made the maps, but its still rare that any game gets new downloads after about 3 years since its release. I think asking bungie to do any more that they are doing right now is rediculous. Right now, they're trying their best to make Halo 3 the best game on earth, they're trying to fix map downloads, they're giving us a public beta, and they're trying to deal with everybody complaining on the forums. I'm not saying its wrong to complain, im saying sometimes people complain way too much. Of course this is just my opinion, so you can go ahead and diss me all you want.

In ages past the hand of time
Has hindered our migration,
But it cannot slow the will of faith
In times of confrontation.
Let all those worthy walk the path
Where we shall all soon meet.
For what once was lost, now is found
And our journey is complete.

Ugh...I STILL cant download these godforsaken maps...Im gonna go cry now...*sob* *sob*

Whether it's superbouncing or interrupting weapon animations, just because we don't personally ban you for it doesn't mean it isn't cheating and extremely poor sportsmanship.

i still cant download either, but im not complaining. since ive stopped playing halo so much my life has gotten better. (weird)

my grades are shooting up, im getting more sleep, im sick less often, the ladies are on me (more than usual haha), and my singing voice is getting better. i also found an awesome band. maybe everyone should just take a break from halo for a while and enjoy life. that would certainly make people less vicous in matchmaking because im generally happier since ive stopped playing
