this is piontless I'm 24. There are way to many kids (13 & under) that play the game and are saying and hearing things that they no idea what they mean.

were you never a kid!?! Im 14, and I know that I think most of us "kids" do understand what we hear on here. And you probably did too when you were 14!

What's "piontless", as you so boldly stated, is that you care so much about what age we are. We're all here for the same reason, we love Halo.

I agree. Im only 12 but i love Halo, its the best game ever.

Personally, I like to stick with those 14 and over, only because I HATE squeekers. It's terrible, my god those voices! But I play with people in their 20s and one or two in the 30s, either way, as long as they are mature people, I'm happy to play with them.

I'm certifiable.

39. Reflexes are a little down from peak (though I'm told that could be fixed by training) and some nagging RSI hamper me in multiplayer, but I handle the campaign end pretty well.

As to who's "too young" or "too old" to play; well, I've seen some pre-teens act far more maturely than their parents in online play before. And I've seen some "oldsters" who're a bit slower on the draw but utterly deadly through tactics and planning. So I'm thinking that just slapping a year down probably isn't going to be terribly good at predicting who's ready to play and who isn't.

-- Steve does think that the ESRB ratings are appropriate for purchasing the game; if parents can review the contents and decide that their children can play, why not let them play?

It would be great if there was a way to limit this game to the age group that it was meant for. By that I mean stricter regulations on the ESRB rating. This game is rated Mature and meant for people 17+. The fact that their are so many kids playing this game just shows how many bad parents their are in America. If i had a kid and found him yelling obscenities into a mic I would be sure to whip his ass and make sure he didn't do it again. Parents these days just don't give a damn and let their kids do whatever they want.

Edit: AzPaTriX, your write up on How to solve all problems through arguments by programing was great but the lack of response to it clearly shows how immature the community is as a whole. People will spend all day arguing why clan matches should come back but won't take a few minutes to read about ideas to fix some of the major problems in Halo 2

Funny you think the bad parents are the ones that let there young kids play a 17+ video game. But you are the one that would beat your child.

I never said i would "beat" my child there is a big difference between smacking a kid on the ass a few times to discipline them and beating the crap out of them. Its a big difference and you are a moron if you equate the two.

I'm surprised there are not more 10 and unders, it seems like I can't go through a single game without being screamed at by some high pitched voice screaming profane language in my ear.

Im 16 it doesn't matter how old you are if you have the game you have the game. Id rather play games then watch tv now a days nothing good is on except the Sopranoes. The older you are the wiser you are the younger you are the squeeker your voice is. This is for the parents who say if a game says mature your kid cant play. You know how much -blam!- i see in my school now of days just today i walked in the bathroom and about 10 condems were open and stretched out on the floor. The point is you see more in real life than in a game now a days since I live in baltimore I see more on the streets than in the games. Parents let your kids live their lives dont ruin them.

  • 05.04.2007 3:55 PM PDT

I'm 13. I have been been playing video games since I was around 6 or so. I play halo halo competitively and take halo seriously.

As for this whole "Kids are hearing things they don't understand and cant comprehend." umm ya bull-blam!-. Sure, I may swear a bit but name one 13 year old who doesn't , and don't try to say you never did. Don't get the wrong impression, I don't cuss people out or go off on people.. but I through the occasional "-blam!-" or "-blam!-" in every once and awhile. This is The United States Of America were there is something called Freedom of Speech. I fully understand any term that anybody uses on xbox live.

I agree that most kids my age shouldn't be playing halo but there are some that should. Really, I don't cuss anybody out, I don't harass people, etc... All I do is mind my own business and practice with my team.... So I really don't see any problem with myself or mature players of my age playing halo.

See the problem is not so much with specific people playing, but age groups DO have a certain psychological aspect that affect others in online play.

My friends have taken numerous teacher classes and child psychology classes in college (as they are now grade school and high school teachers) and they have learned on how kids/humans develop.

for instance, kids in the age group of say.. 3-8 are still developing coordination skills. Its a bit more difficult for this age group to play games like this in the first place.

Ages 9-12 or 13 have not yet gone through complete development of analytical skills. Which basically means, they can argue with you, however they cannot grasp the point of view of the other party in the argument. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, much like many rules. This is why you have kids around this age constantly complaining about not getting power weapons and complain about "kill stealing" and basic teamwork. They are just unable to grasp what other people are thinking.

Ages 13-17 or so begin to understand a lot more, however they have the 'me first' mentality. This is generally a selfish phase in which teens believe they are invinsible, insecure, and generally do not care much about pleasing other people unless its for personal gain. Now Id say this group has a lower percentage of ALL being as described (of course exceptions to the rule) and are mainly known to brag about their stats/kills/talk more crap in post game.. etc.

Contrary to all the posts about ages not meaning anything in terms of a game like Halo, psychological studies say otherwise.

Now of course there will always be racists/sexists/idiots of ANY age..but thats just a result of societal characteristics in which they grew up in. If only there was a way to segregate these types of people from the general population, Id be all for it. By the time these guys reach 21 or 22, they will never change.

And the reason is that your not allowed to hit your children. ( ok hit is the wrong term ) Punish them I rember when I was a kid it was a lether belt over the toliet seat or go pick a swith off the willow tree. Now it you even slap them on the wrist someone calls the cops or cps WTF!!!

EXACTLY and that is why America is going to crap! When I was a kid i got my ass beat and I learned my lesson. Seriously my friends gf has a 3yr old and he is already a horrible kid because his only form of discipline is "don't do that its not very nice" and then the kid continues to do whatever he was doing and sometimes even more since he know knows he is getting attention for doing it.

Exactly
im not saying im supposd to b playing this game its rated M(18+)
im 16
but im not like those kids that yell "That was a -blam!- kill" OR or other stuff like "ur mom jokes"
i hate kids like that!
they piss me off

14, the way games are rated these days, Halo should be teen.

But then, Bungie would not sell as much.

I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and im all out of bubble gum!

im 15. And I personally think i am a hell of a lot more mature than some kids my age. I know this one kid who is just redicoulous and thinks hes so cool. And sometimes i will play with him and i will own him and then he gets one measly kill and hes like "WAT NOW O THINK YOUR SO TOUGH" and then i come bak and beat the -blam!- out of him and tea bag him but never say a word. I never brag. I dont have killer stats but i am clost to "above average" not guite tho. All im saying tho is it just depends on how mature they are. some kids are years above wat there age states.

all I know is that I hate getting downright destroyed and dominated by kids who are half my age. I'm not saying that I hate the kids because more power to trash-talking little bastard that humble me. I'm just saying... I feel like a little schoolgirl getting picked on by bullies when some 12 year old tells me that he owned me and keeps calling me a noob.

Im 16

and im old enough to kno tht nothing anywhere at anytime matters anymore, ppl just live and die, money is the wat u need these days, and its not going to change for A LONG LONG TIME.

As for clan matching and arguing about it, yea, its hard to imagine how hard it is to make a perfect game (since evry1 seems to expect halo 2 to become that ), but see, lots of ppl just play it nd complain, even i do once in a while, but hey, its life, it hapens everywhere.

O and i dont rly think ur age matters playing halo 2 but if i here a 9 year old kid cussing and stuff, yea, tht bothers me alot, i d say the range should be 13-w/e. Just start at 13. o and of cousre of ur mature enough
