I've got three daughters (15,20,22), I'm 41 years old, and I've NEVER allowed my girls to see a movie that was rated above their age. Nor do/did I allow them to play games rated above their age. Maybe it's just me, but I don' think companies/governments have strict enough standards. My girls get TONS of freedoms, but they have certain guidelines to follow. It's a shame parents don't feel more responsibility in raising their kids. It's always the teacher's fault, or the governments, or the "Man's", etc...
Just my two cents.
PS: Halo is the one place I let my guard down, so if you happen to hear me slip in a swear word during a game, I'm gonna have to snipe you so you don't tell my kids.
Wish more parents were like you.
Game developers do have a responcability. But when they build a game, they focus on a certain market. I don't promote or support games like GTA and such because it promotes Sex, etc And the fact that Rock Star uses cartoony art to promote their product (GTA) don't hep a bit.
But the games ARE rated after all. Once they are rated and placed in stores, it becomes the responcibility of both the retail store that sales the games as well as the parents who buy them. It's the Retailer's responcibility NOT to see Muture games to Minors. Even if the parents are there. Make sure the parents understand that it's rated Muture for a reason before they buiy/rent. It's up to the parents to watch their kids. Don't buy Muture games for the kids, and DON'T let them play 'em either.
Now, what I love about the Halo Franchize is that it's no where near as muture as other games we've seen. And I pray it stays like that as well. Otherwise it could really hurt the FEEL of the game and story line. Even though it's not a fully Mature game, Halo IS rated "M" and kids should NOT be playing it.
I'm 28 by the way.
