I'm really getting "pissed" at my frames in halo. I know that it's mostly because of my graphics card. I'm running an Ati Radeon Xpress 200 series. It's integrated, so it's really sucky. On halo, I run it at 640x480 with specular, and shadows off. I get around 50 frames.. But once like 3 people join, it gets to 25 frames which really gets me mad. I use the -11 command line in halo and if i turn everything down low there is no increase in frames. I was wondering if there was anything I could do. Or Do i need a new graphics card all together? If so, is there anything good out there for around $100 or should I do something else.

Specs: Amd Sempron 3500 - 2.0Ghz Also running halo at NoVsync.
Ati Radeon Xpress 200 Series (integrated)
1.5 gigs of ram.

Another thing is that when i go to my pc's properties, I have a 2.0 ghz processor, but when i go and check, it keeps switching to like 900mhz, 1.3ghz and after like the third try it goes back to 2ghz.

Anyways, I was wondering if I could do anything to raise frames, or should I buy a new graphics card. If so, I'm only willing to spend $100

Reduce the video settings starting with resolution, specular, shadows and decals. add -useff on to the end of the command line in your icon. Example: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -useff

Yeah.. I know that but it looks like crap. I used to be able to run Halo at 800x600 everything on with higher frames. I don't know why all of a sudden it dropped.

What's a good card for under $100 that will get higher frames? preferribly Ati because im a noob at graphics card. Do I need to take out my integrated one or what?

i have the perfect suggestions for you, which you have thought of already but i like stating the obvious. GET A NEW CARD!!

as far as removing the intergrated card....you cant.. not to sound like a dic or anything but what part of INTEGRATED isnt clear? unless you have some special mother board that is almighty and has a removable integrated card (which i have never heard of or seen one) you just put your new card into the PCI or AGP slot depending on what connection you have.
to find that out look @ how old your computer is: if it is older than a few years it most defiantly has AGP but if not your gonna have to call ure manufacturer or do some research to find out if you dont know.

No, you sacrifice it to your God who will grant you more frames.

yes but make sure to read any and all directions that come with it so you dont connect a 750w powersupply cable to the card that is suposed to use 250w (i know it should be the other way around but w/e)

ok open your case and look on you powersupply there should be a label with a chart on it

look under 12+ and it should say some number like 15A

if you got a PCI-E slot and a PSU with 15A or better, your in good shape

for now theres nothin to do

lol! Why would you think that? Halo1 PC is not the latest and greatest game. It's several years old and thus doesn't require anything more than a $200-300 build job could get you.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Try running at 480x360!

-vidmode 480,360,60

Keep in mind, any tinkering you do with video options will change the resolution back to at least 640x480 unless you specifiy otherwise.
