Will Halo 2 take advantage of EAX? My EAX will never work with my Windows VIsta, but always works with Windows XP. Anything wrong?

I read somewhere (Maximum PC?) that Vista has excluded Direct3D Positional Sound and 5.1 support in favor of OpenAL, now since alot of older titles have always had and used D3D Audio w/ EAX, I'm wondering why Microsoft would forgo this older, but more supported technology in favor of one particular format....

Oh well...I also heard of a project called Alchemy that allows, ingame, the sound to be converted from D3D to OpenAL in realtime. Now I personally don't know if this actually works, but it would really sweet if this did fix this problem for Vista gamers.

And back to the Halo 2 EAX question, I'm sure it would. IIRC, Halo 2 on the Xbox supported 5.1.

I hope Windows Vista will eventually offer support for EAX.

Yes and now FRAPs won't record sound for me. Is there a Vista codec pack that fixes this?
