I think it was b.net devotion and interaction.

If it were based on friendliness, then I can almost guarantee that I'm not gonna get a gold ticket, LOL...

Yeah but their had to be a way that they measured devotion and interaction, I don't think the mods just picked their favorite posters.

I think it probably has something to do with

-how many posts you have
-how long you have been a member
-how often you post

Heres to hoping, I've been a member since December of 2004 and I'm a regular poster. I doubt I will get it though, it seems like there will be very few spots. So my question is when those lucky few who get the invite on May 11th get their codes, does that enable them to download the Beta that day? Frankie said something about the fact that the Friends and Family people get it a little bit early. I wouldn't mind getting it on the 11th, but I have a neurobiology final the next morning so that would be bad if I played all night. And then on the 16th in the morning I have a physics final so that is a bad day too. Oh well, I will get my time in no matter what. But in any event I got in through the rule of three so I'll be playing it eventually.

I've been around since May 3 years ago. It would be nice to be in the beta. I just didn't have the cash laying around for Crackdown, and Apparently the 3 hours +sign up didn't select me either.

Unfortunately, no one I know got in, so beyond some wave of the magic hand of Bungie, I will be waiting till November to see the H3 goodness.

Dude go rent Cracksdown from Blockbuster today, no late fees!!!

You can keep the game for a month and a half and all you have to pay is a $1.25 restocking fee. No need to fret, you can still get in easy for just 8 bucks.

Yeah, I'm sure there are a few peolple the mods would have loved to veto.

I was under the impression that friends and family meant friends of bungie employees and family of bungie employees. I never thought that random b.net users or halo 2 addicts qualified for that. do they/we? i don't wanna get my hopes up for nothing..

Yeah...the mods veto people everytime they warn them, or blacklist them. I'm sure the biggest thing that will make sure you DON'T get in the F&F is if you've ever been warned or blacklisted, or are on the *hit-list* is HFCS. And I'm sure that if the mods really had to veto someone, Tom would already know about it. Like the update said, it is semi-random, but I'm sure Tom had a lot of feedback into who gets it and who doesn't. Oh, and this deals with B.net, so how many games you've played on Halo 2 means jack. Here are my predictors:

* Length of profile (profile join date): Don't change profiles, because that could be seen as trying to get around the "warn" system.
* Do you have an attached XBL GT: It's just another level of validation because it shows you're willing to volunteer information.
* Do you post in the forums (without getting warned): If you're a fairly active member, while not getting in trouble, you'll probably be considered.
* Does Tom *not* hate you: I'm sure the "buck" stops with him, and any person he wants to veto is going to be.

Those are my criterion...but who knows, your guess is as good as mine.

What do you guys think were the requirments for being selected in the lottery for "Friends and Family" invite to the Beta?

- Number of hours logged to Bnet
- Number of posts
- Group involvement
- Multiplayer time on Halo 2

I have been heavily involved in all of these things at one point or another, I really hope my name was in the runnings.

I would pretty much tend to agree with all of those

Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

I hope I was recognised for a few things I've done for the community. (I can only think of 3 though) and i am a regular to the flood forum. Although I have been lollerbant 3 times so i guess that ruins my chances. I'm not the phased about it though 'cus if I don't get in, I still have crackdown.

I agree with all them but this one, for this one I disagree with myself.
Though your point of having older join dates is something to consider, you have to also realize that there are A LOT of new members, or members that have not been around for a while, that are really swell people and which I think are deserving of being considered. Then again, Tom has said before in the 'join date' topic, that join dates are nice to have because generally people who have been around longer can be trusted better and are held to higher expectations. However, since I I've been around longer, I realize that I'm probably biased towards them counting towards F&F's, so I try to think up reasons of why they should not factor in.

In conclusion I end up argueing with myself, and I figure out that even if I was the one to choose people, I really shouldn't be, and someone else should decide that can take a less biased view.

Good thing someone else is making the decisions. ;)
