New Flood for life <3

We’re looking back laughing because they called us crazy, but we took that chance on that feeling, living for the moment, we were spinning in. Maybe we were a lot of things, but we weren't crazy.

I know this doesn't have much to do with the game play itself, but it does have to do with the Halo 2 updates. Please hear me out before flaming and whatnot.

My 360 broke about a month ago, I got the thing that all Xbox 360 owners fear besides the words "Halo 3" and "canceled" being in the same sentence, the ring of death. So I called up Microsoft, they told me to send it back to them, and they would repair it for 140 dollars because my warrenty had been long over with.
So within a week I get a box, send out my 360, and it comes back 2 weeks later in this damaged box. I opened it up and the frame and face plate were cracked, the controller port door was snapped off, and it didn't work. So I called them up (kinda was mad at this point) and they told me to send it back and they would give me a new one for free. I sent it back and waited for another week for it to return. Along the way my power supply broke when my brother's friend tried to hook up his 360 to play Guitar Hero II (so I got a new power supply as well). My 360 finally comes back with a brand new wireless controller and all in one piece! Everything worked fine.

I just tried to play Halo 2 for the first time in the month that my 360 has been away. So I turned on my 360, didn't sign in, put in Halo 2, and it asked for an update. So I said yes, it did the update without problems, then went away and looked like it was going to restart. But then another message came up asking for another one and it did the same thing...about 8-10 times.
So after playing this little game for 10 minutes I said no to the continuous updates and continued loading Halo 2. The screen came up and I couldn't sign in, so I restarted my 360, signed in, then put in Halo 2. I was allowed to sign in, but I had to do another update so I did. It worked and I was on my way to finally playing again. Then I realized that new maps had come out so I went and downloaded them. When signing back in afterward, a message in Halo 2 comes up telling me that the download was damaged.

I tried downloading them again and the same thing happened. I can no longer go into any matchmaking games and I can't see my ranks. Its really ticking me off.

And yes, I have seen the Bungie update about the new maps and such and having to switch accounts. But I have Xbox Live Gold and my credit card number is already registered in my 360. I bought the maps and downloaded them from the 360.

Any help?

You might wanna delete the maps and re download them. Careful though, because sometimes the banhammer will mistake doing that for dowloading corrupted content on purpose, and may ban you.

Damn, sorry to hear about all the troubles lol ... I wish I could tell you how to fix it, but all I know is I was forced to wait until they fixed mine ("Installation of content failed. See www.xbox.com for support information", or whatever) and now it works fine.

Can't believe a brand new box is f-ing up too.

Yeah, someone else told me this, but how do I go about doing that? Never really had problems with my original Xbox before so yeah.
And what about banning? It has to be a corrupted download, thats whats it telling me.

I've have nothing but problems with the Xbox 360 since November 22, 2005 xD

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

There is not much us we/ Bungie can do for you man. Just go through the customer support rings and hope you get someone competent.

Yeah, its just frustrating. I deleted all the updates on my Xbox360 in my memory so I'll try again -_-
Thanks for the help everyone

I've had nothing but problems too. Had mine since Dec. 21, 2006 and I got the "Ring of Death" In January. Kept getting it, maybe 5 or 6 times randomly until March and haven't had them since.

Yeah I had hard drive issues the day I got the hard drive, needed a new 360.
Then I got the ring of death and had to go through all that crap, only to get the "repaired one" back cracked.
Its a mess -_-

And the deleting updates thing didn't work *sighs*

Nah, you need the updates or you can't play. What you should try is deleting the maps and redownload them (possibly pay for the new maps again) then do the updates.

You did buy the 360 with the Hardware already snapped on, right?

I just deleted the maps and it still gives me that message -_-
And my original Xbox 360 was a core, had issues so got a new one from Microsoft. The hard drive still didn't work on the new one so I got a new hard drive from Microsoft and it finally wanted to work.
After I got the ring of death, I got a brand new core system. The ring of death was recent, so most of the bugs they had in the beginning should have been fixed.
It was one of those updates that corrupted my 360, has to be.

Holy crap...that sucks.
I would probably explode if my 360 glitched, because i had to pay for it all myself...and i have no job...

Wow that does suck indeed..........hmm.............I hate to say it, but you may have to call Microsoft for support.

If there's anyway to get a refund outta this, you might wanna try that. Possibly end up blowing some cash for a new system :-/

Yeah it pretty much sounds like internal hardware problems. If it were me, I'd wipe everything and try to start over fresh, or just trade it in and use whatever money I can get from that to buy a new, fresh one....

the exact same thing happend to me once. However, i fixed it by formatting my hardrive. Youl lose your free gamer pics, movies, and any saved data, but its new and Hexic HD is boring and the gamer pictures are retarded so it shoulnt bother to try

Well this is why i'm not a fan at buying a system right off the bat. I wait like 5 months then buy mine because by then all of the people that had problems will have told the company. They will have fixed the problem and it just keeps repeating. They will fix all the problems then thats when I buy mine. That way I don't have any of these kind of problems. It's a bummer though sorry to hear about that dude hmm..... try doing what these people tell you they have amazing advice and maybe you should check your hard drive and maybe your network connections but mostly your hard drive. Just a suggestion I don't know much about this kind of stuff so just listen to the other guys lol.

There is another option that may help that is worth trying before you try reformating your HD.

First go to the system blade of your dashboard and select memory
highlight your Hard drive and push Y

now this next part seems rediculous but it works press the following button sequence

X,X, RB, LB, X, X

Select yes when your box asks you about preforming a system maintenence

this clears your Xboxes Cache where it stores all your software updates. it sounds like your H2 update got corrupted so doing the above will delete that and allow you to redownload the game update. if the above sequence of button pushes does nothing it means that i have switched the order of the bumpers and try going LB then RB.

If this doesnt work then you definately have a hardware problem or completely reformatting your HD is another option. let me know if this helps.

Well, I got the Ring of Death before the new maps came out, way before actually. Took a long time for the Xbox to come back because of all the -blam!- that happened in the process and me having to get another one.

This "Damaged file" still allows me to play Halo 2, but only in custom games. I can play the new maps, but only in custom games.
