You read wrong. I don't think it's compatible with anything besides Windows Vista.

Not the actual game but just the server, I read at http://blogs.ign.com/MGS_HiredGun/2007/05/04/53959/

Quoted from the blog:

we designed the dedicated server so that it could run on Windows Server 2003, since most rack servers aren’t going to be running Vista. Set up your dedicated server to run as a Windows service and it will keep itself online automatically after every server reboot. The only time you ever need to intervene is if a LIVE update comes out or you want to change your server’s settings.

So am just wondering what the requirements are? if any thanks!

Hmm, I never noticed that. Interesting.

Considering you're just going to be using a dedicated server on a Windows 2003 Server no less, I can't imagine the requirements being high.

Let there be CHAOS!

Well, I think they should release the dedicated server program as a download a day or two before the game ships; that way, people could get there servers set up and ready for when the game hits the shelves.

That's just me though.

The few, the proud, the leet.

Why are you going to pay for two days you're not going to use? It takes less than an hour for a company to set up a dedicated server as long as you have a credit card where payment is confirmed instantly.

Yeah, vista server isnt out yet (longhorn i believe), so 2003 would probably be right. i thought a lot of game servers ran on linux, but im sure a microsoft funded game would have compatibility with microsoft software.

there is no way to be sure. hired gun has done a pretty cruddy job releasing things like that, so u might just have to wait until release day. will all the dedi's be up and running by then? or will it be a week later? im not sure how that kind of thing works with online games.
i think its just windows server 2007
