Alright, so we all know (or at least should know) by now that Halo 2 Vista will not be cross-platform.

But I decided to start this thread in the hopes that this could change sometime in the future- maybe with a software update. Look in the upper-right hand corner of your screen. that's how many people are playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live right now. Do you want that number to double? maybe even triple?

then state the reason why you want it below this line.

I don't want it.

I don't want to listen to some 9 year old crying over xbox live. The PC community is much more mature that the Xbox. It should stay that way.

AMEN!

It's not going to happen. I really don't know what you hope to accomplish with this thread.

Yeah, but it's not like the PC gaming community doesn't have its share of retards. Trust me, with built-in VOIP for Halo 2, we're probably going to meet plenty of racist, asinine jackasses. Not all Xbox Live members are like that (which goes without saying, but I'm just restating it here).

It's not going to happen, anyway.

Plus, I hardly doubt that many people will be playing Halo 2 like they did on the Xbox. Not many PC gamers really care about a three-year-old console port when there's Crysis on the horizon.

The ONLY way this could work reasonably well, is if when you click "online" or "live" or what ever it is, you have the option to either browse through a list of xbox games you can join, and a game of PC players you can join.

check my sig. I haven't played halo 2 in over a year, and I remember that towards the end 9/10 of my XBL friends list was offline whenever I played. The population for this game is sort of dying.

as for PC gaming being more mature? no, I disagree with that statment. I know people who have played games on PC from the beginning and never touched a console. I know a guy personally who was working for Apogee (A.K.A. 3D Realms) on the game, Crystal Caves, at nine. But saying that it's just more mature is a joke. I play CS:Source and yes, while there seems to be less kids, it's only less kids use voice comms.

besides...
There's always the mute player feature that every game has

Um, no. Not many children or teenagers can afford a decent gaming computer or know how to build/use one compared to how many people can easily make an Xbox Live account on the console. Usually, a certain amount of prerequisite knowledge is needed before you can even play PC games (i.e. installing games), and that usually goes hand-in-hand with age, and maturity. Look at one of our members, Iggwilv. He's rather mature and knows how to use his computer. That's not to say that the youth can't be mature, or afford or build/use a computer.

The PC gaming community has its share of people who should really put a hammer to their machine, only less so than the console crowd.

I disagree with that statement.

I have been playing halo and counterstrike: source on PC for a year now. I must say that I found more hackers in Halo 2 (xbox) than I ever did for Countertstrike and halo PC combined.

I think you just contradicted yourself there. What do cheats or hacks have to do with this discussion, anyhow?

I don't want cross platform to happen and I'm glad they didn't implement it. I can't stand the xbox community. all those little 10 year olds cussing their heart out over a microphone... then when you say 1 word to them they TK you... stupid kids...

... Mute button?

I go to work with people I don't like all the time. and you know what I tell myself? I don't need to like them on a personal level, I just need to work with them.

its not that simple. you have to go into your friends list on the xbox, go to players, click the guys name after looking for it on the list, hit mute, then exit the menu. you do not want to even attempt to do that in a ranked game unless your in a spot you know you won't die at.

When I said something about "people who should really put a hammer to their machine," it was because they're asinine jackasses who do not deserve to have electronic gaming systems, not because they use cheats or hacks.

Or you can use these nifty programs that just came out, such as Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, Xfire, and Skype, just to name a few.

I figured if you used Private Chat there would be less of a time delay than you get on TeamSpeak.

I personally hate when people abuse mic chatter with sharing music so mute buttons on Voice is great

Well that was racist. You don't have to use the word screw. That might offend someone.....

Ok, so we know that Halo 2 won't have cross-platform gameplay, but microsoft has stated that there will be cross-platform for some games in the future with an xbox live and a games for windows live gold account. Look at this page, you'll see the comparisons between silver and gold and you'll see gold supports cross-platform. Which game do you think will have it first?

http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Live/Pages/AboutLive.asp x

EDIT: My bad, Shadowrun will be the first to support it.
