I know there is always a risk .But some of us just want to talk abut halo 3 without any spoilers(with the exeption of bungie´s oficial info) Just reading the titles I have heard about some "orbs" and "energy drainers" and some of us just don´t want to know what is that (until is time)
For that I request that any coment or thread with leaked info to be locked or deleted
for your time thanks.

I have to agree.

If people want to ruin their surprises and "ooh, ahh!" moments by watching the (illegal) videos, then fine. But they shouldn't ram it down everyone's throats with 30 threads a day on each frame of each video. It really does take the piss.

Well sometimes the moderators can't be there on the exact time the user posts leaks, but when they are the user wishes he had never posted anything. They all work on different time schedules and if they can't lock/delete/blacklist on time, then you will just have to refrain from looking at it or deal with it. I know it sucks, but that's how this website works.

that could have a solution

I say just make a group and keep it there. If you want leaked info, use the group. If you want to discuss it, use that group.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

The very second we see a leaked post, we lock/permaban the leaker.

We allow discussion of the leaked content because its going to be discussed anyway, and it really doesn't break a rule.

You'll just have to steer clear of those threads when you see them. That's your only real option.

I didn't want anything to be ruined either, but due to the nature of this gig, I have to see it all. At least you can avoid those threads, we don't have that option.

True, but importantly so far none of the leaks have had much of a single player component to them. I mean I can't imagine you'll get less enjoyment of the game to know that such and such weapon now has more or less ammunition per clip, or that there's a new piece of equipment you can use...

At the very least, I would prefer to see a "spoiler warning" on threads that are discussing the material. It would allow members who do not wish to partake in real or fake leaks to avoid them and stay in the clearly speculative and wish-list discussions.

This is an excellent idea. I do admit though, I do partake in the "leak frenzy" but I have not created a thread about it because I do not want to spoil it for others. I respect the other users personal obligations to the leak, whether they are for it or not, and I do not wish to upset anyone.

You have to let the people discuss what they want (within reason). If you don't want to see these threads, just avoid the Halo 3 Forum.

Ima have to go with Snap on this one, "View at your own risk" ideal. No one forces you to come to bungie.net. IF you do not want to see spoilers, Avoid the H3 forums, and don't CLICK any threads that look suspicious.

This is a very strange thing you say.. If you didn't notice, and this has been said quite a few times, all threads that contain links are locked and the OP blacklisted. If you want to avoid spoilers, just don't go to the thread saying "The new Pistol sucks!" Or "Did you see the new pistol!?" etc.

Titles can't really ruin it for you that badly. This is the joy of a public forum where anyone can post. ;)

Spoilers about Halo 3 are still about Halo 3, and thus they belong in that forum.

My advice? Avoid the forum. Avoid any topics that hint at leaks. If I had the choice, I wouldn't touch the Halo 3 forum between the time it comes out and the time I get to play it, because I hate having a campaign ruined for me. But, that's rather infeasable, because it'll probably take like, a month or two to get it (or something stupid like that).

So I just have to bite the bullet and be cautious. You should too.

I have to side with the OP. I was a little bit surprised when the first leaks(scans) from the Swedish magazine came out and people were allowed to discuss the content of them on the forums here. My memory is a little hazy, but what I remember from the days when Shishka was still a ninja was that all discussions of leaks were off-topic. True, he was more privy to the actual nature of them being an actual employee and all, but I was under the impression that there was no room for discussion. What ever did happen to THAT sticky?

I do find it a little odd that it is punishable to post links to leaks but you can discuss them all you want. If somone were so inclined to, they could pretty much post the entire contents of a leak in text form. I guess that's already been done. How is this not in effect leaking actual content to the forums on this site, be it factual or false? We have a stickied thread in the Halo 3 forum where you can find all the info you want about a map that Bungie has not officially announced or hinted at right on their own forums.

I don't think I should have to just 'avoid the Halo 3 forum' to not have to deal with potential leaks. This to me is a poor excuse. I would almost bet money that if, however impossible and implausible, if someone somehow came across actual leaks of the campaign in some form(again) that the policy would change in a heartbeat. Say this happened a month after the Beta was over and the soon-to-be Beta forum was closed. If I want to discuss somthing from the Beta and remain unknowledgeable about aspects of the campaign am I out of luck because the only excuse you can give me is that I should 'avoid the Halo 3 forum' due to people being able to discuss things that broke an NDA-a legally binding contract? I'd bet the aforementioned Leak Policy sticky would pop back up.

Okay, maybe I'm being a little rash and over-reactive here. Perhaps a better question is why have the rules been relaxed so much? My only guess is that there are less moderators who are actual employees(only Achronos, Stosh, and Yoozel?) who would be able to verify the nature of content of a leak. If so, I would think that would actually call for a more strict rule on them.

Sorry for a long rant. Just my POV.

Hey if there's any campaign leaks, can you guys handle that ASAP? I know you will, but I don't want to see a "MASTER CHIEF DIES" when I just browse the Halo 3 forum come launch day (or a leak)

Maybe I should just stay away from Halo 3 forum during the fall...........

Well IMO, you can't stop some things. Multiplayer components (the only major leaks we have seen), don't really bother most people. Why? Well because a lot of game manufacturers announce the new weapons etc. Sure it may bother you that people discuss the "Zanzibar" leak, but does it really bother you if you find out about a new map?

Because if it does, I suggest you don't frequent this site, or any gaming site for that matter.Bungie themselves have released maps that will be in Halo 3, and given us multi player tidbits. Discovering those isn't really a "good" part of the game for most people. Obviously, Single player leaks ruin the game for most people. But I think if something from that was ever leaked, then Bungie obviously would not allow its discussion. However, with multi player leaks, it simply takes too much man power, and the effort is not worth the result. The moderators (who are volunteers), would have to lock thousands of threads, on a subject that Bungie often "leaks" to the public itself.

Another thing, I am very sorry, but expecting Bungie to cover your eyes isn't something that they can do. This is the information age. Information hits us from all areas. Would you expect High Impact Halo, or many of the other sites involving gaming discussion to shield your eyes from content, that is "appropriate", and etc. Also you don't pay for this site. The moderators are all volunteers, their all human. They can't shield you from everything, especially in an age where we are literally presented with thousands of bits and bytes worth of information on a daily basis.

Additionally, a large amount of the population enjoys speculating on the "leaked" multi player content. It gives them something to do. Most of the discussions in the forum are either based on content that Bungie gave to us, or that came from leaked vids. And the content that Bungie gives is just as "damaging to your experience" if finding out Zanzibar is a map in Halo 3 is. Because, we also know that Valhalla is the new Coagulation. Even though its official, it really entails the same basic information: A new campaign map. Thats what most of the leaks are: New Maps, or New Weapons, or a sneak peak at the graphics.

Good luck to all the PC players trying to avoid spoilers. What is it, 4 years since Halo 2 was released for Xbox? And it is just now making it to PC! Imagine the wait for H3!
'Mustn't read game mags. Mustn't look at billboards. Mustn't talk to friends with Xboxes. Mustn't go on the internet. AAAAH SPOILER NOOOOOO!'
