Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I know that some people avoid topics about how people are being selected for Halo 3 F&F Beta, so you may not have seen Achronos's post from a little while ago that a new dedicated forum is being created solely for discussion of the Halo 3 Beta. The forum will be open to all, but off topic posts will be "ruthlessly dealt with."

What do you think about this? I think that this is a great idea and, in the long run, this should actually help to reduce "bad posts" in both forums by keeping the forums' purposes focused and clear. Any other opinions? Thoughts? Dissertations?

Try to keep it community-related rather than Halo 3-related. This is, after all, the Community forum.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Definitely a good idea. Would clear up a lot.

It is a great idea. Bungie will be able to gather feedback. Also, people who don't want to read spoilers will just have to stay out of the beta forum and not the whole Halo 3 forum.

Yeah, no kidding!! Although hopefully people in the beta will be kind enough to keep their spoilers out of the Halo 3 forum. I'm not terribly hopeful, but I do have confidence in the ninjas to keep things separated.

So this would open on May 16th do you think? Or sooner, to coincide with the F&F beta start...?

Recon, I noticed that Achronos mentioned awhile back that he could restrict the forum to people that have gamertags linked. Perhaps it would be less "THIS LEAKED VIDEO SHOWS THE PISTOL SUCKING!" to "I played the Beta, and uh, that pistol sucks."

While that would be a good idea, I don't like it simply for the reason that if the only people allowed to post were those IN the Beta, then Bungie would only be getting feedback primarily from them.

Kind of the point? Yeah, but I'll probably want to comment (as I'll play at my friend's house) and I don't even have a 360.

And I hope the pistol doesn't suck as much as I'm hearing- I'm a Halo PC player, and it's going to be hard to get weaned off it if it is.

No, if you read Achronos's post, he says that the forum will be open to all.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

So if you got blacklisted you won't get selected?

I think what Achronos meant was members who were blacklisted at the time of the selection, as he did say he wouldn't be holding grudges, and i doubt he'd let a blacklist for something that may have been minor (or even accidental, eh ghandi?) from 6-months+ affect you now. I think a prime example would be impurity; likely to have a very high trust rating, but blacklisted for a stupid act, which, in his case is understandable (Free Impyâ„¢!!).

Yeah, last summer I was blacklisted twice, one tme for psoting in a political thread, the other time for quoting something offensive (I wasn't trying to be offensive but to I was warning the spammer to edit or be banned.).

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

Well... I'd like to see some kind of restriction on posting in the H3 Beta forum. I think it will be a useful tool for those in the Beta to bring up legitimate grievances etc. etc., but then those will be diluted and obscured by people who aren't in the Beta making threads or even just agreeing with things they don't know about...

For instance, say the pistol really did suck, and someone playing the beta had a legitimate complaint. The thread would not be people from the Beta talking about it and weighing up the pros and cons, giving their input... It would mostly be people who haven't played shouting "YEAH IT SUX BRING BACK THE M6DEEEEE!!!".

I seriously believe that any H3 Beta forum should be restricted in that only those with a linked GT in the Beta can create posts. Everyone can read it, and discussions from information in there could be held in the Halo 3 Forum, but only those who actually have any experience to back up their points may raise issues/discuss topics...

Means less work sorting out the wheat from the chaff - "I can pull this flag through this wall" vs. "GLITCHES ARE BACK BUNGIE SUX" which could have come from anyone. The latter, unfortunately, is likely to spawn a more active thread than the former, thus junk like that could push real problems down and out of view. :\

Perhaps easier than a dedicated forum, a dedicated group, that everyone can join but only those invited may post in? Ah, I'm sure you've got it covered. [;

Another forum to moderate? Yay...
Still, I see the benefit of it.

Ah, but the benefit of having a specialized forum like that is that if someone tries to pull that kind of crap in the Halo 3 beta forum, they'll be banned quickly. Offtopic crap and the usual flaming topics will not be tolerated there... and the moderators will be encouraged to be heavy handed and Shishka-like to everyone in there.

Furthermore, it is quite easy to ban you from the beta itself if a forum ban doesn't make the point.

Funny thing is though how would banning someone from the Beta reflect how he does something on here?

Because this is the community surrounding the game. People come here to talk about the game, and the creators of the game maintain this space as a free service to the fans. Makes sense to me...

Why not? Achronos will most likely read your thread and forward it to the proper people. Or maybe he'll get those proper people to actually hang out on the forums for a bit, seeing as it does help with their job..

Either way, I plan on making a big thread of all the things I didn't like, liked, bugs, etc. If I come across anything I feel needs posting about.

What i meant was just because he was baned from the site doesnt mean he should be baned from the Beta.

I don't doubt that proper bug reports would be forwarded on. That is not the problem I'm concerned with. Mine rather, is the high signal-to-noise ratio that these forums have. I've seen many good posts about bugs and such in the Halo 2 forum buried under a mass of crap. And unless the moderators are prepared to ban those that make poor posts that clutter the forum (despite not being off-topic), I have the feeling that the same problem will occur again.

I'm pretty sure moderators will be much harsher with the "What weapons should be in Halo 3!?" threads in that particular forum. The Halo 3 forum will still have that crap, but the beta one will truly consist of Beta-feedback related topics etc.

The problem with the other forums, is that they're always there. The beta forum will be hre for only a few weeks, and mostly likely will be under a lot more supervision during that period compared to the other fourms (not that those will be abandoned). I don't think any of the moderators would mind being shishka-like for a few weeks. *giggles even more*
