As it is, I think that the moderators are just going to have to police the Beta forum a little more, although I imagine that after a couple of days, the bad posts will quiet down a LOT.

Your right, but thats just because their won't be any one left to post bad stuff after the first few days.

Maybe Recon can test the "open all links" button?

What could be a solution, is that everyone can post in the Beta forum, but that only those that actually participate in the beta can create a new thread.
So if someone played the beta only at a friend's place, (s)he can still voice his opinion in an exsisting thread, (s)he just can't make a new thread. And people who haven't played the beta at all, can still ask questions.

You know what? I agree with this, but there's really no way to police it. It would be unfair, for example, if a guy who did not manage to get a Beta invite (through no fault of his own... just bad luck and not enough cash to buy Crackdown) goes over to his friend's house and plays the Beta for a couple of hours, finds a bug and has some comments about gameplay issues, and then cannot discuss them in the Beta forum. I mean sure, he could tell his friend to post it in the Beta forum, but I would imagine that he would want to discuss it on his own Bungie.net login ID.

Hahaha! Good one!

Wait a second.

Does this mean that I can finally try out my "open all links" button?

Hot DAMN!
>.<

The friend at a friend's house playing the Beta is a special case and I can't really see it happening too often to be honest. The Beta Forum should be for Beta feedback, not for people who haven't played it to fill up with posts... I just want to see the Beta being effective and actual problems/bugs being discussed by those in the know. Everyone else has the Halo 3 forum, they can discuss new info from the Beta Forum in there. :\

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

"Access Denied..."

Under the forum tab Halo 3 Beta forum was at the top. It's not there anymore.

Forum # 99999991.

Saint, I disagree.

I happen to have personal anecdotal reasons for believing that this is incorrect. I already know that my little brother will be comnig over to play the Beta at my apartment all the time. He cannot afford a 360 yet and so he'll be camping out in my living room (til I kick him out). I imagine that this situation WILL be quite common -- especially in parts of the USA and the world where many people cannot afford to plunk down $500 for an XBox 360 quite yet but may still love Bungie.net and Halo.

Let's remember that
1) If you check the Halo 3 forum, there are people who are STILL just finding out about the Beta
2) Not everyone is privileged enough to have their own XBox 360
3) Some people wanted to get into the Beta and just didn't get lucky and couldn't afford Crackdown yet.
4) The Beta has splitscreen play
5) As I mentioned before, some people have a different (or no) gamertag linked to their usual B.net login

For the above reasons, I think that the number of people without "registered Beta" gamertags who end up spending significant amounts of time playing the Beta is going to be much larger than you imply. Many of these people will have legitimate reasons to discuss the Beta here on Bungie.net. It would be patently unfair to exclude them from -- or even to make them jump through pointless hoops in order to -- participate in the H3 Beta forum.

I say keep it open to all.

Agreed, Foman.

I think it would be awesome of Bungie to make all the matchmaking playlists unranked, so we could go in with 7 friends (some being split-screen guests?) and fight with and against our buddies. Honestly, I wouldn't mind that one bit. I know I have about 10 people I want to get some Halo 3 beta time with, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to, since I know a few of my friends will be playing with me almost every night. ;)

The more the merrier, I would say. What better way to test out a beta than play it with all your friends? :D

You happen to recall the Custom Game list? You can set up a BTB game and advertise it, then hopefully people will see it in their list, just like practically every other XBL game out there.

Sorry i cant quote, i agree with "just another fan" and how the only beta participants with linked id can create threads/polls, yet everyone else can post in them. Then the moderators would still have to police them, but it would be narrowed down into informational thread titles. Anyone else agree with this? best so far i think.

I like the idea of only allowing players of the Beta to create new threads in the Beta forum. It would certainly help keep down some of the spam, allowing moderators to ensure that serious threads get kept clean of spam by policing them on a somewhat thread-by-thread basis.

Except that part of what the Beta is supposed to test, I imagine, will be how the ranking system holds up to a larger population now that they've got some data from the MS Alpha and Beta to go off of. Making the playlists unranked would kinda defeat the purpose. ^^
