What I really liked about Halo 1 is that each weapon had its uses and each was fun to use but required skill to use also. We didn't have 20 different SMGs or 20 different pistols because we only needed one. What I really liked about Halo 1 was each weapon wasn't like the other.
For example the Plasma Rifle.
In Halo 1 this weapon was an actual weapon. It was the Covenant's assault rifle, because it had a high rate of fire, did really good damage, and slowed down enemies when they got hit by it.
In Halo 2 this weapon wasn't it self anymore. It felt like an SMG, it didn't have a good damage output, and what happened to the slow down effect when someone gets shot by it?!
In Halo 2 the SMG, Plasma Rifle, Needler, and the Brute Plasma Rifle are all the same thing. They all done the same damage and they all felt like an SMG. Why do we need so many weapons that do the same thing?
I fear that in Halo 3 Bungie is going to throw in a bunch of new weapons and features and not focus on what makes it fun. I could play a game with a hundred guns, but if they all feel the same and aren't fun to use it will be a boring game, but if I play a game where there is only 10 weapons but each is unique and fun to use then that will be a good game.
Remember quality not quantity.
