Alright, the following story may seem a little off topic at first, but read the whole thing and you will see that it pertains to terms only used in Halo 2. The following is also a 100% true story from last night.

Alright, so my friends and I went to see Spiderman 3 yesterday and the theater was packed for obvious reasons. We chose my favorite theater and arrived early to get amazing seats, so all would appear to have gone well right? Well NO, there were 3 or 4 boys, (probably between 10-14, the kind that randomly scream into their mics or just keep blabbing on in their girlish non-pubescent voices in the middle of a great game) sitting behind us. They talked the whole time, even after one of my friends turned to ask them to stop. This was annoying enough, but at some point during the movie, a character gets knocked down and the kids start yelling variations of "oh pwnt!!!" Pwnt quickly turned to "headshot" and "running riot" and those escalated into "ohhh bxr!" and "no no no, bxb!!!" with each kid playing off of the other's exclamation. That is no exaggeration, the kids said each of those terms, and I was pretty much ready to stand up and start swinging at them. So not only did they talk during a long-awaited movie, but they desecrated Halo 2 terms (not saying pwnt is a Halo 2 term) and glorified the stupid glitches/exploitations. I wonder about how parents could have brought up such kids, but then I laugh to myself thinking how said kids were probably still in kindergarten when Halo: CE came out.

With that story in mind, I now pose this question to you: Have you ever encountered such angering real-life situations that have something to do with Halo 2 or gaming in general? If so, post about them here.

Halo, like all other video games targets children. We all don't like it but when little annoying kids are around, but they always will be around; have the balls to ignore it.

Not talking to thread starter.

don't take it too hard kid, I'm 31. You probably get just as pissed off as we do with immature stuff. The adults are mainly to blame. Firstly there are the adult smack talkers, swearers and racists using terms like raped etc. Their immaturity is worse. However it is amplified in the yound ones who repeat that crap but have no real understanding of what they are saying. Basically then it once again comes down to adults they should monitor the kids if they are too immature to hear that drivel and realize how pathetic it actually is then the parents should not allow them to play (thats why the game is rated M).

good luck with the driving

I have not experienced this, but I feel your pain. If anything is too much for the kid to handle (To the point where they start to be obnoxious), then the parents or someone of higher authority should take some initiative and tell them to politely leave. If they refuse, then the adult should somehow find a way to inform the parents of the child's misbehavior.

I'm 14 and I try to act as mature as I can be. I know some people in my age group can, and will be unbearable voluntarily; I try to redeem their actions, but lately it seems that people have been taking advantage of me and using me. Now instead of trying to redeem the title of my age group, " immature," I have just stopped trying, I guess you could say resistance is futile when you're in the 10-14 year old age bracket. Soon enough I will be free of it, September 1st is my birthday, and I'm looking forward to driving.

Meh, my parents are hardly around, so I have to be mature enough to get up in time to get ready for school, go to school, go to the gym, etc... Most of the kids can't even pour they're own bowl of cereal, let alone cook meals for an entire family. I have a job, I contribute, most of the 10-14 year olds don't. i guess you could say I'm a pretty mature guy.

Good job.

Send A Friend Request to Schloxictonkey if you need a good teammate and you are good

in math class one day these kids were talking about how the only reason they bought their xboxs was for halo. I thought these kids were really dum cause i had a ps2 and san andreas wasnt coming out on xbox for a long time. a few years later I tried halo 2, one year hundreds and hundreds of hours, four regular xbox controllers, 1 360 controller (thumbsticks are as fantastic as the day i got them)and 100000 kills later PLAYSTATON SUCKSSSSSSS HALO 2 RULES IM IN THE BETA YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW

Popcorn to the face: "BOOM HEADSHOT" = Problem solved.

I must admit, I shout lame Halo/Game terms when out, but in movies? No.

You know, if you complain about a customer to the front desk, and say you refuse to come to such an unmonitored "joke", they will give you vouchers or free tickets (if they're polite enough).

My evening at the Spiderman 3 showing consisted of constant crying by 30 different babies and a couple kids that kept knocking the back of their seats into my knees. The two kids in front of me couldn't have been older than 6 sitting by themselves and needed a good bit of supervision in my opinion. I have had plenty of bad experiences in theators, thats probably why I hardly go anymore. The last movie I'll probably go to a theator for is Transformers, I avoid situations where people are being overly immature and obnoxious like the plague. Parents need to wake up and smell the coffee, your children can't raise themselves and video games aren't the problem, your laziness is to blame, TV's don't babysit for you. (For purpose of argument, I'm 22)

Good points all around everyone. I forgot to come back and check this thread. I definitely agree with everyone's thoughts on parenting, and can definitely relate with the one kid trying to defend his age group, I remember bearing the same weight on my shoulders in front of adults when I was that age.

Yeah, I definitely wanted to, but the theater was packed to the brim and we probably chose the worst seats to have had to get up from during the movie. The theater was stadium seating and the exits were way down at the bottom, while we sat in the second highest row. We also centered ourselves in the aisle, so basically there was no escaping the pain. The kids behind us were also in the middle of their row. I tried to get my friends who were sitting on the ends of our group to go complain, but they couldn't get out so they just asked the kids to stop. Haha myself and one other tried looking for the kids afterward, but to no avail. My question: where the eff was their parents??!!

The popcorn to the face was a good idea, but I only got a small popcorn and basically wolfed it down moments after the movie began :-( Haha, I do admit that I will shout "double kill" or "triple kill" if someone throws something and it hits multiple people. That NEVER gets old :-)

I've heard more 10 year olds playing halo than in 5th grade. But thats not the reason of his post.

Something similar happened to me. When i was with my girlfriend at the movies early December of 06, there were four 12-13 year old kids behind me. They looked fairly small in physique (I'm 15), so i barely noticed them. Untill they started to comment on every little thing with medal terms like, "oh he was beat down, or, that coke bottle just got an overkill) in that slide show thing before the previews. I ignored them untill my girlfriend said (and these were her exact words, which was kind of weird) "Hey don't you play halo? Go pwn those noobs." They were biting on my last crumb of patience so i got right in the front of all 4 of them and said, "hey, please shut the f*** up before i totally pwn your asses with no sheilds and only a pistol then teabag your domer with a free sample of my plasma nubcakes." (All said in about 7 seconds)
Not a word from them for the rest of the movie.

Sweetest killtacular ever.

i've taken a grand interest in this topic. . . it makes it seem like we are doing more than just playing a video game now. . . now we are helping society. . .

to the thread starter. . . as annoying as that may be. . .it is funny

Uhm...

and to that guy.

it is. . . my sisters are 13 and 14 and they just LOVE halo. . . because even if they do reallly realllly bad in a game. it doesn't matter. because they can always come back to life and try and kill 'that one guy with all the numbers and x's in his name' or 'that one dude with the lips as his symbol' they have fun. and the reason is, is because halo *to play* takes no skill. . . just a little hand eye coordination. as for tactical games like counter strike, or battlefield. they aren't so fun for the younger kids because it is MUCH harder to play. . . now granted both games are hard to be GOOD at. . . halo is much easier to get kills.. . trust me, i've seen my thirteen year old sister noob combo somebody. . . haha

and for the 31 year old guy with the exeptional post about the older generations influencing the younger.

my sisters do not use a mic. i will not let them. . . i tell they to disable voice until my brother gets into the party *he lives out of town* and then they play custom games with my bro, my cousins, and their friends. . . but if they are in matchmaking. i do not allow a microphone, or even voice period.

  • 05.10.2007 10:52 PM PDT

Don't hate me for playing a game...Hate me 'cause I read your email... Yes - right now - I am reading your email.

do not allow a microphone, or even voice period.
EXCELLENT idea... I rarely use the mike - and yeah I'm older than anyone else has mentioned so far. If I am in a game with friends then ok but the language skills used by others has been exceptionally poor... I can imagine a senate hearing with a tape recorder playing the pregame racial and -blam!- tirades being blasted over the world on CSPAN... Ohh the calamity...

Where has parenting gone the last generation?

Amen to that. Sadly, parenting these days means sitting the child in front of a tv or computer and ignoring them. No discipline whatsoever. Children need a good beating if they mouth off to parents or don't behave in a manner stated by parents. And the saddest part is that children are a direct reflection of THEIR parents. What does this say about those kids now?
