I have high doubts about this one.
I don't really think halo 2 on vista will stand a chance beating the amount of players online 24/7 that counter strike has.
But thats just my opinion. What do you think
I say Nay.

I dunno about this one, probrobly nay.

Counter-Strike has had a large and active group of players since around 2000, and the group has become absolutely massive. With the fact that Vista and Xbox Live are required to play Halo 2 online, I doubt it really stands a chance.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Right now, there are roughly as many players on CSS as there are on H2 Xbox. I doubt H2V will get as many players on at one time as H2X does.

H2V won't be as popular because it's Vista only.

Good Lord no. I doubt it even tops 3,000 players at peak hours.

Dudes, you forget, Halo 2 Vista will be newer than CS. Modern society loves everything new and shiny...

True, but when Halo PC came out in 2003, it was relatively new in comparison to CS as well. It may have trumped CS for a bit, but after the initial "wow" effect was gone from Halo and people began to see how flawed the port was, the numbers began to dwidle down and CS was back on top as one of the most played FPS for PC. Depending on how well Hired Gun did their job, Halo 2 Vista could overwhelm CS, or it could do the same as HPC did.

Cheers.

What Bungie Jumping said is correct, in all new games whether they are a port or a newly released game, they always have the WOW factor with all the new and shiny stuff. However what truly is important is the staying power, if it will endure months later and into the next few years like CS has done.

The game that has the best staying power right now is WOW. Already 8.5 million subscribed since late 2004 and STILL GOING STRONG!! Maybe it's because that game has the WOW literally in the name. :D

What a pointless thread...

#1 - CS has been out for so long and has a bigger community then halo 2 on the xbox
#2 - way more people have Windows XP over Vista which is required for Halo 2 Vista...
#3 - Halo 2 Vista also has pc requirements that not many people have...which is sad...

So, im saying no...it will have a massive community, but it will be dwarfed by CS.

Lucky for myself, I just got my new pc with Vista (which works fine, stop dissing it). Along with that, I've got an ATI 1950xPro graphics card. Bring it on Halo, I can handle Oblivion maxed out, so this will be cake >:D

Dude halo for the pc didn't even touch cs one bit. Not even halo 2 on xbox live has as many players online 24/7 as cs does.
And graphics don't really say much except beauty. Game play is always going to win in the end. You can have a game with the most ridiculous looking graphics and it still will sell like crazy because of its game play.

This is too one-sided in two ways.

1.) Halo 2 Vista has no chance of beating the playerbase that counterstrike has.

2.) Both will pale in comparison to Team Fortress 2.

(Yes I know TF2 is in no way a part of this arguement, but you know it to be true.)

Halo 2 vista won't even come close to the number of players in CSS.

The number of servers in CSS is so vast, that my ping increases to 1500 from 30 when I refresh the server list.

Just now, CSS ahs 28000 servers running, of which 8000 have people in them. the median number of players in non-empty servers is 8 players(possibly 9) bringing that to a VERY ROUGH average of 64000 players online in CSS currently. 56000 in H2X.

H2V will start off really slow, first month there prolly wont be more then 3000 players, not a lot of gamers have Vista and people have already played Halo 2.
