"Waiting for Halo REACH to hit the streets"

(if I'm supposed to know the following, I apologized)
I dont know what is the deal with superjumps;
1. How do they work?
2. Were they integrated into Halo 2 on purpose?
3. Can you also superjump in Halo 1?

I started thinking about this when I saw a video in Youtube.com that shows a bunch of guys doing superjumps in the 2 new maps. And I thought that kind of thing was not supposed to happen in the 2 new maps. So then I was like, How did they know they can jump on that certain spot so they can support jump? They just seem to know where to crouch, and where to land and all that. How is this done? Did Bungie intend for this to happen? Are you supposed to be able to get out the maps?

Vero Nihil Verius. Nothing is Truer than Truth.

a super jump occurs when a player stores up kinetic energy(crouch walking into a corner) and then jumps without releasing that energy onto a point where two planes of geometry (think of the polygons that make up the ground) intersect. like two squares that are side by side and touching. the kinetic energy causes the player to ALMOST fall through the "crack" but at the last second "rebound" by releasing all the stored kinetic energy, launching them high into the air. this was probably not done on purpose but is a side effect of the physics engine. Bungie considers superbouncing a glitch and is considered cheating if used in matchmaking. if anyone has any corrections let me know.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

1. Google it
2. No
3. No

They are also cheating if used in Matchmaking (or any other game that does not allow them).

I cound have swore that I read those mini informative paragraphs that read crouch at the last minute to achieve a picture perfect super jump. I read it all the time. Are they reffering to somthing else?

i honestly dont know. ive only super jumped once and that was like 3 months after halo 2 came out. i only know what i do know from that one game that was years ago. but i know for sure it involves stored kinetic energy and then jumping onto a "crack" to release that energy

What if you're in MM and you superbounce on accident? Is it still cheating? I had that happen to me a few times.

as long as you get your butt right back down no its not cheating. assuming it really is an accident. which i assume you are lying about. ive NEVER accidently bounced more than like 3 feet off the ground

I'm bringin' Spartan back.

No, you can't superjump in Halo 1 because of fall damage. Hmmmmm, fall damage .... superjumping ..... something's telling me .....

Sucks, its great fun when it happens.

I was at a 4v4 tournament in my city and we were playing Midship Slayer, MLG rules and I jumped off p3(Top pink) to avoid a triple team and I bounced right back up, resuming the triple team.

It sucked, but it was exciting (Yes I know I sound "-blam!-" for saying that, but I mean... cmon, it was)

There is no free speech here. There is no due process.
Welcome to Bungie. You have no rights. Play nice.™

I thought bungie stated that superbouncing was allowed because it is a part of the map...theorys about how a bounce takes place are when you hit a certain map line, instead of falling through that map line, the game sends you back up at a higher spot then a normal jumb would occure, thats why sometimes when you are killed by the guardians, the game engine decides that you should fall through the map line instead of getting shot upwards

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

No, you can't superbounce in Halo 1 becuase Halo 1 uses a the Halo 1 engine, not the Havoc Physics engine.

Actually, it was an accident and I did a normal bounce. On Beaver Creek, Midship, Gemini, and Turf was the maps that they happened to me on. I have bounced in training on purpose before and once in MM when we were being cheated.

So you speak on behalf of everyone or something? I've superbounced on accident before. It's quite possible.

Lockout, burial mounds, midship. I can distinctly remember accidentally superbouncing ton those three maps with the intention of playing a normal game. Hell, the lockout one was even a double bouce.

lol its not cheating it says so in the cheating faq.....

Q
What is NOT considered a bannable offense by Bungie?
A
Quitting a game is not a bannable offense. Having a team-killer on your team sucks, but that's not a bannable offense either. Many people are also aware of the "super jumping" phenomenon that allows players on some maps to jump to extreme heights. We are monitoring this situation for long term impacts to game balance but we are not banning people who do this simply because it's too widespread and is something that's basically built into the map. Anyone can do this if they want to though it is difficult to pull off in many cases. We will continue to monitor the impacts this bug has on our game.

I have accidently superjumped around 3 times on Turf near where the warthog spawns. It doesnt happen that often and it seems it seems completely random as i havent seen people try to do it.
